Track: Julias Song (Live), Artist: OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark), Album: Architecture And Morality Tour - Live At The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane - 1981
Thank you Julia Kneale for penning this spectacular lyrical experience. Thank you Andy for the amazing dancing. 40 years later and I am still listening. You're amazing!
STILL my FAVOURITE LIVE VERSION of this AMAZING SONG - Andy puts a slightly different VOCAL MELODY on it; gets soo INVOLVED with his DANCING that the band have to EXTEND the instrumental Break...LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! LOL
1983 Glasgow Apollo. Seen OMD. I was 17. Have fortunate enough to have seen them a few times more. This is my favourite track and love this live performance. VHS recording of this . Brilliant. Thank you Andy,Paul,Martin and Malcolm.
This song 1st appeared on an album called "Street To Street" A Liverpool Album and this was when the the band was called The ID. Way before OMD! I've seen these guys live when they 1st started out way back in the very early 80s. These are just amazing live!!! And his dancing is Sooooo 80's too!! lol
This track has such a prevalent Joy Division vibe to it that it almost sounds like it could be a long lost classic fitting for their final record "Closer". And with their classic "Architecture and Morality" LP, I would hazard to say that OMD are the better fitting spiritual successors of Joy Division than the obvious choice of New Order.
This was written b4 omd started nowt 2 with joy division ....when they were in the id ...the song about is Julie kneales relationship with Andy mccluskey...
My God...thanks for uploading this! When I was very young, this was one of my favorite bands! But still their studio stuff sounded somewhat sterile...I never would have imagined they would be such a live band, amazing. Unfortunately I never saw them live, so anyway, thanks again for this revelation!
This song was actually written when he was with the band before OMD...............they were called The ID and it 1st appeared on the album "Street To Street-A Liverpool Album" along with the likes of Echo and the Bunnymen and Big In Japan. Ace song too.
Iam 100 per cent sure this was st Georges hall in Bradford West Yorkshire iam sure of it and there played there about four or five times and one year was the best concert ive been to due to the fact that all the people whom was downstairs was rocking so much jumping up and down I was thinking the floor was going to collapse after a 15mins break I downed a few quick pints of beer and got into the thick of the crowd what a nite I was on a high for days after wards
@hareck66 They are still touring now hareck and although they might have slowed down a bit they are still as good as every go see them if you get the chance
This is actually sung a bit too fast compared to the track on the original album. It sounds even better that bit slower. This song should have made at least the top 10.....can even be played in clubs today and not feel outdated.
@@johnlissemore9545 look what Ill do is I’ll put it up on ultimate guitar as a tab and then post the link. But for now it’s 3 (twice) to 5 on the a then 3 to 5 on the d then 3 (twice) to 5 on the a then 5 to 3 on the d
I love Andy’s dancing. No cool ego trip. He just feels the rhythm. Refreshing.

Not counting Movement, OMD's earlier stuff certainly sounds closer to Joy Division than anything else by New Order

omd are totally different musically to joy division.

Gary Hampton Except it was written by a Wirral last called Julia Kneale, who is singing it with them in York this very year!
Goes to show that they genuinely played live. :)
When I watch this , unfortunately it reminds me how badly I dance. haha
Love the synth plucks at 1.28
Signature OMD
Reminds me of dad so much
I think that it depends on what mood you're in, this is an excellent song whether played fast or slow.
