    Thanks Line 6. I’ve upgraded firmware on my my Spider V 240 mark 1 to the latest version. Once doing the factory reset, I spent the next 3 hours on the first 3 banks (only) of refreshed sounds - reinvigorated by the fresh, new, useful and sonically excellent tones. The presets with the ‘classic’ mode (no tweeter) are awesome from what I’ve heard so far. Well done Line 6, I feel like I’ve got a whole new amp, and love it!! 💪🙌😀

    I used Line 6 gear back in the 1998-2010 era...with the Pod, PODxtPro rack, and Flextone combo which all produced good clean tones...but the high gains were mostly brittle/sterile-thin and required a lot of tweaking and post EQ to make them usable.
    That seems to have changed now...from where I sit with my studio cans on...even though this is just Yutube.
    However,
    I do wonder why Line 6 doesn’t include the Helix platform sims on ALL their units today. It seems rather counter productive to market a line of amps that DO NOT offer your very best available tones. IF I was the chief at Line 6 I would never feel good about selling gear...that I knew “could” sound better...that just wouldn’t sit right with me.
    The flagship Helix platform should be included in the Spider series in 2020.
    Just my 2 shekels worth.

    So I’ve had the original Spider 210 with the original Floor Board and have been so happy with it that I’ve NEVER thought of changing. This series of amps has me second guessing about doing an upgrade.

    • @EdwoodCA

      Yamaha bought Ampeg in 2018, too!
      I didn't know about Yamaha buying Line-6 off of LOUD [Mackie] around 2014 or so, until about 2 weeks ago.
      Yamaha's restructuring/spin-off in 2014-ish really sparked their push, I guess.
      At least, they have the solidity to not crap out and kill off the brands. Too often in other acquisitions of well known brands, they only end abandoned after a few years worth of an attempt.

    That's a nice amp. If I could get rid of my spider 4 150 watt 2/12" amp I would get one of the smaller Spider5 ones. I have only used this spider 4 150 twice at the most is just too big for my apartment.

    • @BETAsin

      @@AndrewBonicaRR The same is true for any practice amp with a small speaker, digital modelling doesn't make that problem go away. The reason stuff sounds thinny and "digital" is because the small speaker doesn't have enough bass.

      @AndrewBonicaRR 5 лет назад

      BETAsin true that a small speaker can only get so loud and big, but suggesting the smaller ones are only useful on headphones seemed unnecessary, especially when the original commenter said he needed something not too loud for his apartment, in which case it’s perfect. 😉👍

      The whole point of my post was the fact that I had a spider 4 150 w/two 12s that takes up a lot of room in my small apartment. I can't get a smaller amp if I can't get rid of this big amp first! :-)

      If I'm not mistaken, just a female XLR to 1/4" male cable. [as briefly shown at the 2:10 mark]
      *Note: You can also just get adapters for whatever combo you need, if you already have good quality cables.*
      *I presume you have standard 1/4" male to 1/4" male instrument cable, if so, you just need a female XLR to female 1/4" adapter,* such as these two:
      Just be aware of the price of an adapter vs simply getting a full cable with the correct ends which might be worth skipping the adapter route.
      i.e. currently $6.59 www.amazon.com/CableCreation-Female-6-35mm-Socket-Adapter/dp/B01J33COI0
      or D'Addario/Planet Waves for $9.76 www.amazon.com/Planet-Waves-Female-Balanced-Adapter/dp/B0002E51AI
      *As always with Amazon: be VERY aware that choosing different colors, quantities, etc can change who the selling source is, and sometimes that means no more free Amazon shipping.* [Don't choose the Planet Waves that is just $3.55 because it has $12.99 shipping!]

    @scottbogfoot 5 лет назад

    That's great but you should have fixed the real problem with the spider v, which is that when you're charging the g10 relay you cannot use the amp. If you had a different jack or used the headphone jack as the charger I'd be able to cable in my guitar also the power has to be on, it should be unswitched power to the g10 charging so I don't need to have my amp on and being unused for the duration of the charger cycle. These are two huge flaws that get in the way of players using their amp.

      You are misinformed. It's much more than an aesthetic update. They've added the classic mode to the speaker sims which makes it default to a more typical combo amp tonality. I have a V240, which I gig with regularly, and the new software is a BIG improvement over MkI. Before you had to tweak to get a good straight amp sound. Now the first bunches of presets are just amp models, no effects, and they sound really good. I know, I have a full Helix rig, and the Spider works fine as a more grab-n-go, practice, small gig, or rehearsal setup.
      Also, using the app allows you to access cloud preset directly into your amp via PC/Mac. I upgraded to the MkII software when it arrived, and am very happy with it.
