I grew up on and around Tahoe in the 60's, 70's and 80's when there were no traffic jams and parking just about anywhere around the lake was no problem. Back then most of the best beaches were often empty and my family and friends swam naked. Nowadays the truck and vehicle traffic is almost constant and each one of those vehicles drip oil, coolant, windshield washer fluid, etc. on the roads that ends up in the lake. Imagine the caustic chemicals that are released from vehicles involved in collisions. It all ends up in the lake. Tahoe was virtually pristine 60 years ago. Of course Tahoe is still beautiful but not as beautiful as it was not long ago.
