Dacia was founded in 1966 as a result of a tender launched by the Romanian government. The first models, the Dacia 1100 and Dacia 1300, were originally Renault 8 and Renault 12. The brand, which took its name from Dacie, the old name of Romanian lands, was transferred to Renault in 1999. After acquiring Dacia, Renault started a radical modernization work at the Pitesti factory. Becoming a legend of rebirth, Logan was produced in 2004 and broke production records in the brand's history in the second year. The Dacia product range expanded with Logan MCV in 2006, Logan Van in 2007, Logan Pick-up and Sandero in 2008 and Duster in 2010. Nowadays, vehicles such as Lodgy and Dokker have been added next to the make-up or completely renewed models. Dacia also plans to produce an electric model in 2021.
