EP117 - Rowing Silver Lake - Travel and Exercise

In early May of 2024 I went to Silver Lake to do a row. Silver Lake is close to my house, and is where I do most of rowing workouts...other than on the ergometer. So I went there to assess my fitness and to determine if I thought I was ready to do the Seventy48 this year.
As you probably know, the Seventy48 (seventy48.com/) is a seventy mile rowing event where you row from Tacoma to Port Townsend within 48 hours. It is quite a challenge, and I have failed it once. I planned to do it again in 2024 but had fallen behind in my fitness regimen and I was concerned about whether I would be able to do it. Thus this row.
As it turned out it didn't go very well. I had almost another month to improve my fitness, but I didn't feel like I was going to be able to be adequately prepared, so I withdrew from the Seventy48. Sad and expensive, but clearly better than trying to do a difficult event like that without adequate preparation.

As the title suggests, some people think I am a little strange. And for sure I like getting out and about! That is why I am the Odd Man Out.
