Is it safe to use a heat mat under a massive plastic bin where I house all My crickets or will it catch fire , I don’t have a thermostat and I’m not sure , but as you said you need additional heating for maximal results and to speed up the process . The reason people breed crickets specifically to feed to their pets is because wild ones could have chemicals or pesticides, or even worse diseases or nasty work parasites that are longer than a pencil
I actually fed my gecko some crickets and they laid eggs in the substrate, I don’t normally leave food in I usually feed with tweezers but I was going away and had nobody who would do what I do with feeding they’d only do the water. Fast forward 2/3weeks I have baby crickets and they didn’t stay in the viv, so are they gonna survive? I hope not. I have baby crickets in my enclosure from feeding grown crickets to my turtle ,when I saw the little baby cricket today I had to see if crickets multiply or something
Do you know if your way of sustaining them is safe for human consumption once it gets to the second generation? Or is there some sort of special place to buy them or THING to buy that makes them safe? My family and I plan on breeding and roasting them to eat
How often should you clean their poop? Since feeding them a lot will of course cause that? Any wet paper towel or will the moisture from the carrots and greens suffice? Thanks in advance!
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse oh ok, so similar as keeping our dubia. I thought the cricket process was a bit more difficult. Will give it a try! Thanks 🙏 We appreciate your feedback!
I leave it in for a couple days then when I visually see the eggs. They look like little rice stuffed in the sides. I take it out make sure it’s moist not swampy and put a lid on it.
How about the substrate? Research says it’s best to use vermiculite. I know you said soil. How often or would it even be possible to change cricket substrate?
Yes you definitely can and they will however mine still manage to hatch no matter what. I feel like it keeps me to a healthy number. Don’t want huge amounts
Preferably not an open cup of water because they would drown so what you can do is clean up some smaller rocks outside and place them in a dish of water and try to cover up spots where crickets and get stuck and drown

That carrot just took out a whole family lol
THANK YOU FOR THE TIPS ON THE SMELL, it's so disgusting
No problem. Yes the cricket smell is one of the worst smells known to mankind lol
@ChiefSweetsUniverse yeah they do smell really bad and yet the pet stores you can get them at almost always smell
Thank youuuu, just recently got a chameleon so I need this lol
I just said fuck it and threw some springtails and isopods and so far…I can say it’s been really good
Same!
Yes
I used to raise crickets in a big ass bioactive terrarium (mostly only isopods n springrails)
Nice!
Good👍
That’s a lot of crickets. I’m gonna get some.❤🎉😮
And how do you incubate the eggs? What humidity should the crickets be kept in?
i love that you have a BABYMAN pfp
(its what we call our beardie)
Haha nice thank you
Thank you I need this for my tarantula😭
How long until they lay eggs after mating?
Best tip that you left out … is use isopods for the smell . Regardless if you keep the crickets alive it’ll make a huge difference trust me
Can I take isopods from outside and just throw em in there with the crickets?

Oh, and don't open the lid, and accidentally let them escape in an Elementary school. They will be there forever.

Number 1 go to Nevada
Number 2 grab a jar
Number 3 grab some crickets
Nevada is literally a off brand version of Australia now

Pangea reptile

What type of soil
Can the baby crickets go back in with the adults?
They r good at hiding and grow quite quickly for what I've seen
How often do you put in the container of dirt ? Should it go In daily? Should you separate it since crickets can eat the babies?

@@ChiefSweetsUniverse ok good to know . Thank you for your response
Firstly, keep ure cricket tubs clean and free of excessive moisture , that's the number 1 killer of crickets .
Cleanliness is very important but they don’t like it dry. Mine die off if it’s dry
what purpose does the egg carton serve? Thanks
A place for them to crawl around on. It is shelter for them and allows more space to run around on so they don’t stress out and attack each other
I’m going lo do that
Very nice
Their poop stinks as well. If you want your crickets to smell less bad from the poop, feed them oranges
