Nice build, I've also just started out with a gx390 clone but with a buggy frame. I'm struggling getting hold of hop up kits for intake, exhaust and a centrifugal clutch for the engine (reckons 16hp). Any suggestions as to specific places to go/look for these parts? I'm based in UK. Cheers.
hey did you remove the balancing shaft i got a go kart im thinking of putting a gx390 and modding it up , whats your take on removing the balancing shaft , would it vibtrate too much
mike2jz gte Hi I left mine in . Its called a balance shaft for a reason. No matter if the engine is at 1000rpm or 9999rpm , the balance shaft will always be counteracting the piston for a smooth rotation. Also the balance shaft has very little resistance on the engine so just leave it in 👍
I took mine out and havent suffered any real problems but it does vibrate quite a bit . Apparently they can flex and fail when the RPM gets up plus its more weight in an allready heavy motor. My next build has a rebalanced crank designed to run without the balance shaft but thats an 8000rpm capable motor. I've got enough pieces left over to build a lowish rpm stroker motor, I'm planning on leaving the balance shaft in that one and try keep it smooth
I left mine and took out governor and I got it on the two-seater go-kart buggy and I got up to 45 and that's as fast as I've got it so far but it will that wasn't even maybe half throttle with two people
Love the build man
Nice install, I have a GX390 kart as well. Have you had it on track yet against 2 strokes etc?
