Thank you! It’s a great thing to aim for. I managed with the bedroom studios by building my own acoustic treatment - it’s easier and cheaper than you think! Might help in the meantime
Thank you! They’re a Rode NT5 stereo pair mounted on brackets on the wall to minimise vibration. I’ve seen a lot of people mount arms on the piano itself - nightmare for clean recordings when you’re playing louder parts. Would massively reccomend the approach though - having stuff always set up to record is a big part of my workflow. I can also spin them round and re adjust to record acoustic guitars etc
Thank you! Gosh that’s a big one. I am definitely a melody first kind of songwriter. Most often the instrumental and tune comes to me and the words are just phonetic rubbish at first - but the odd line appears here and there and I sort of draw dots between them. I have adopted the form of an album when making a body of work - an overall theme or narrative helps to give context to what comes out. I think if you’re struggling the best thing you can do is think about big moments in your life where you felt a change or saw some clarity in something, or on the other end of the spectrum, small moments of detail that had a bigger symbolism or resonance. Most importantly - don’t feel to self aware or judged. When you write the lyrics down of some of the most loved songs in music history, they are actually incredible simple and even obvious. There is nothing wrong with that. Good luck!!!
@@HugoBrijs thank you for your reply! I hadn't thought about writing lyrics of songs I like, will give that a go. Thank you for the tips, hopefully something comes soon ✌️
It sounds amazing. The soundproofing is almost perfect, with the exception of occasional rumble from heavy duty trolleys which move equipment round on the floor above. The budget was around £15k - I spent around £12k but some of the costs and labour were contributed by the co-working space. All in all, very good value. I built costs for similar sized spaces are often £20k plus

Looks amazing, congrats on the new space! As a bedroom artist with thin walls , this is definitely a goal for me

How do you come up with lyrics? I have music but no lyrics and suck at writing; do you have any tips?

What was the cost? And how did the soundproofing work out!
