Is it okay to use this instead of a crate? Or do we definitely need a metal crate for a new puppy?

While the puppy is small this can be used solely, but as he gets bigger he will learn he can push up against the sides and start moving/sliding it along the floor. Really depends on the size of the dog and breed. Other than that, I didn't use metal crates for my Dachshund puppy just this.
