  • Basel 3 released in Dec 2010, is the third in series of Basel Accord. These Accord deal with Risk management aspects of Banking Sector. These Norms partially implemented from 31 March 3015 in phase and would be fully implemented as on mach 31 , 2019. Basel 3 focus on Capital conservation Buffer - CCB. CCB designed to Ensure that banks build up Capital Buffer during normal Times. Therefore in addition to the minimum total of 9 % banks will be required to hold a Capital conservation Buffer of 2.5 Percent of Risk weighted Assets in the form of common Equity. Further in basel Accord 3 a counter cyclical Buffer within the range of 0 to 2.5 Percent of Risk weighted Assets are required. The counter cyclical Buffer has been introduced with the Objective to increase Capital requirements in good times and decrease the same in bad time. In basel Accord 3 also focus on leverage ratio. Leverage ratio is the serve as a safety net.
