I'd love to hear a reaction to every song from Made In Abyss, personally. Every single song is so good. The Rumble Of Scientific Triumph is such a good song.
All of this composer's work (Kevin Penkin) is fantastic and unique. He did another amazing sound track for Tower of God that has a completely different feel compared to Made in Abyss and is amazing.
Made in abyss is a metaphor for man descending into the darkness. He stops being human, not human again, and has a great similarity with Dante's hells, that is why when you speak of humanity, you speak of a great, terrible and crude history.
And despite how degenerate and dark the Abyss (more precisely, the story) shows itself to be, us, the viewers will keep watching/reading. Even though the author put disturbing innuendos, questionable morality, and gore on children in this story: we still keep watching/reading. Because of morbid curiosity. The only way we can see the truth of the abyss is if we ignore everything and just keep on falling down like Riko and Reg into this beautiful depiction of hell. This manga is humanity's true form and that makes me question a lot, and its either we stop watching/reading to acknowledge the disturbing nature of this story and be disgusted by it or we just keep descending into this twisted beauty because we want to see what comes next. And this is why I love MiA but I cant recommend it to everyone. Its beautiful hell and morality becomes so twisted that you gotta hold on tight to your past morals to remember them and just keep descending. Remember that Ignorance is Bliss so just keep on falling. There's fun in that descent that I cant explain properly.

"this song want to tells us the story of the adventures, friendships and feelings" thats why even if you don't know the anime itself you can still feel the untold story behind its sound
Yep you were right about this being recorded live, Keven Penkin recorded the made in abyss ost at the Synchron Stage Vienna with a small ensemble live.
U know when a song is good when The breakdown is “basically the general plot/description of the movie”? When the music is part of the narrative and foreshadowing many things for the movie is when it’s a good song.
Atlas you never heard Hanezeve right? Transcendence and Hanezeve has a modified version of Hanezeve in the end, you should check the original one too, its quite adventuring and fantastic in contrast to this version that is more somber and emotional. No need to analyse, just to see the difference.
I believe he said on Twitter that he recorded the album in a Church in Vienna so the Instrumentation bleeding with human touch that you referred to was spot on.
Hell Yeah! I love this song. EDIT: In the past I made a comment about how this song goes through the many themes and feelings of Made in Abyss. You can hear and feel it all in this song, from despair to hope. And believe me, that show is super emotional, coupled with songs like this...yeah, it's a tearjerker...
i just finished watching the whole series and film and started reading the manga this week, so hyped about this track, also usual reccomendation for octopath traveler: those who govern reason with any character intro
In the words of a certain father and scientist: *"Subarashii"* Edit: I keep making edits about comments on your analysis, but all I can say is that it you've captured this song near perfectly. One thing I would recommend if you haven't yet is listen to the original Hanazeve Caradhina, which is where the final melody bit comes from, it's really important in the series. This is probably one of if not my favorite anime OSTs just of all time.
This is my favorite track from Made in Abyss. The way the synths sound like they are bursting out of the tension that the organ generates gives me chills every time.
Sadly you were directed to this before listening to the "original" track from Season 1. There is a clear recontextualization of the last vocal part in this version.
This song as beautiful as it ia you can feel/hear the dread and the horror that hid behind the gentle beginning and then it hits you at the part with the loud blaring piano and then the slow end that gave a remnant that there was once someone still there, only now living this empty existence. Exactly how Bondrewd was portrayed.
The best part about this version of Hanezeve is that its a direct reference to the happier one at in the dawn scene. Its a sad dawn, about the Sovereign of Dawn and is right around the time prushka gets prushkad.
I personally think it's incredible how a really good song listened by someone competent in music can give such a good description of what is happening on the screen even while you don't have a single image. You're just amazing keep up the made in abyss osts they are all great (And you're kinda right about everything but this ost is from the film). I hope my english can at least carry the main message: great song and great listener👍🏻
The song is from the soundtrack album for 'Dawn of the Deep Soul' which constitutes a sequel film to Made in Abyss season 1 and, effectively, its 2nd season. The lyrics to the thematically similar 'Hanezeve Caradhina' in season 1 were gibberish and I believe that was almost certainly the case for this song as well. Mr. Penkin was able to assemble a small group of musicians to record the songs for S1 so I can't imagine the studio cheaping out on a theatrical film. Once again your analysis of the piece is, in broad terms, very accurate. In spoiler-free terms, the song starts playing at the conclusion of a false climax and then transitions into a warm sleepy scene whose significance isn't yet clear, and finally into an artsy dream sequence/flashback.
I don't know if you watched Made in Abyss or not afterward the video. But god damn each word you said just made me get hit in the feels. It's as if you knew everything and said the exact perfect words to get them emotions in my brain. Made in Abyss too good.

Please make a video reacting to the song "Hanezeve Caradhina", also from Made in Abyss. It's absolutely the best track in the first Original Soundtracks in my opinion and it'd be great to see you breaking it down!
I love watching and learning from your videos. It's like showing a friend, or having a friend show you a soundtrack, and then talking about the moving parts of that music piece, the feelings, the instruments, the meaning. :) I don't really have many people who enjoy soundtracks and how they intertwine with characters and ideas in the story, so this kinda satisfies my need to hear/see people react to good music. Thank you for reacting to this track. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. :) I agree, there is a lot of different feelings shifting throughout the song and history. I love how it approaches and kinda explains Bondrewd's (from the anime) character with that sickly synth and children's choir. Funny story: The organ part of this track played one night when I was commuting from work just as I was merging onto a deserted highway. The darkened world, the sensation of rapidly increasing speed (well, as rapid as a little, old econo car can achieve with my less than leaden foot ;D), the very mechanical vibration of the car and the song...it was just really epic. You could listen to every song of Kevin Penkin and you will be shocked. The Pit; Pathway; Outside;
Now he just needs to listen to the original Hanezeve Caradhina, Tozo Hanoline and Rumble of Scientific Triumph (maybe even Underground River too)
can't wait for the Made in Abyss season 2, they announced it already
Kevin Penkin best composer !
Honestly, this song is only in my top 20 made in abyss tracks, but that just goes to show how good the ost is in general. Every song is so amazing that it’s hard to decide which is your favorite, leading to a lot of people having different favorites
Great choice
I was waiting for someone with musical knowledge to do a reactions about these Kevin Penkin OST's. My man come here and let me hug you in a nohomo way. You're awesome! :D
prushka sequence is another good one from the movie
