While waiting for some friends, I went for a lovely walk at the park during sunset earlier today. I sang this song at the top of my lungs when I reached an empty path where I was in the middle of a large field... One of the best moments of my life, just singing to God surrounded by this vast ocean of grass! What a blessing it is to be alive, and to be free! Thank you, Phil for this wonderful song and for serving God with your gift! Thank You, Lord!
i’ve had a similar experience, i was in the french alps with my family in summer. there was hardly anyone there. we found a small chapel, and it had a beautiful echo. my family left and i stayed in there for a little while. i sang waves by worship central and it was so incredible. the echoes rang around and i felt god’s peace fill me. i am so happy for you that you had this incredible moment :) god bless

no autotune. no need for special effects. Just a beautiful genuine hart worshiping God.
Actually there is a good bit of vocal effects, but the guy is phenomenal, no doubt. Always liked his style and timbre.
Yeah there’s some effects. It’s sticking out more than normal because Phil has a ton of natural vibrato in his voice that really shines in those louder parts and the auto tune is trying to correct that even though it doesn’t need to be. That’s why it sounds weird on those parts.
There actually are VERY good effect, and production on his vocal layer. Mastered to perfection that it's almost unnoticeable to the general listener.
That being said. Phil is phenomenal and has a vocal range and tone changes like none other. It's a true blessing and we should be grateful to God he can still sing after his vocal surgery years ago.

Seen a lot of comments on his singing voice. Well he had to get surgery on his vocal cords, I think in 2014, where he couldn't talk for like 2 months. Made him more humble than he already was and praises Jesus everyday for his gift to sing the Gospel to all. He's an inspiration to us all :)

Yesss, I tell the Lord all the time, “ if You bless me with voice Lord I will sing for You forever” lol I’m pretty bad but I know my heart sings with worship, all the Christian songs are just hope, peace, love and every good thing and they all point to Jesus!!

@@Godsserver22 Sometimes God doesn’t give you the fully grown fruit but he’ll give you the seed. Meaning he’ll give you the passion and the desire but you have to be the one to learn, to grow, to become the fully grown fruit from the seed of passion God gave you.
I just love Phil Wickham. His heart of worship and how much he desperately sings about our Lord and Savior and His resurrection power. My heart soars.

Would have been an amazing song if not for the Semi-Pelagianism. I like Phil alot, but I critique him on the theology of this song. "In deserpation, I turn to heaven"... we do not have the ability to do that outside of God's grace. God calls us....we don't call out to God. Guitar has an amazing tone!
Not sure I'd ascribe any kind of Pelagianism to this. One can be desperate because of the struggle with sin in their life, turn their eyes to heaven in desperation and seek help from the Lord. This can still happen under the guidance of God's grace and calling. One has to look at King Saul's life to see what happens when God is no longer involved in convicting one of sin. You have the example of David in the Psalms (multiple times), the prodigal son ("I will arise and go to my father..."), etc. Pelagianism dwells on the premise that I myself can choose when to come to God at my convenience. This song does not seem to propose any of that.

Just wish he'd rewrite the lyrics to reflect the truth. We are dead in sin, we have zero ability to turn to Christ. Apart from His grace & calling.... We perish
