Tony is a good mate, talked to him 2 days ago, the real Indoz, I never made it till 1980 but nothing much had changed, still rode Ulu with no one out with good mate Tezza McKenna, we'd go for earlies and walk in.... after a big night at Gado gado... thanks for posting, epic!
Same as every other country now. The world was better back then. In the 60s, 70s, 80s. Starting changing through the 90s and come the 00s and 10s+ the world has become too over populated
Was there in'78 we rented a bemo, when arriving a memory of what seemed like 50 million little faces staring into the rear of the vehicle all eyes on our surfboards to carry them for a nominal fee which i can't remember how much, walking that track and seeing local females carrying shop goods on their heads in baskets, being surprised after all that way to see a little shop selling coke and stuff. climbing that ladder, paddling out against that sweep which was hard work to get to the line up, then turn around to see what looked like a million caves and only one that we could bet back in and then wondering why I spent all this money to get the same aggro' from some fucking twat from Sydney that I could've just stayed there and got the same without having to go through all this trouble time and money, yeah before leg ropes we were experts in retaining our boards but not adventurous as leg ropes now allow.
Richard still shaped at Burleigh boardmakers total legend to have around yeeewwwww

No doubt about it!
''Me carry , me carry ''
Thèse guys were surfing single fins way better than 90% of todays surfers on modern boards.
It’s beautiful surfing for sure!
And no leash!
Spot on!
