Excellent work with a CK My two cents on Mark X, Fuga and Teana: another contributing factor to bad resale value is the frequent overheating with the older models. When you test drive, the mark x will usually have this unbearable squeaking from the rear suspension and the Nissans will have knocking sounds from the front suspension/steering, which push the selling price even lower. Disco3 onwards is a money pit. Diesel Touaregs achana nazo. Keep doing what you do.
Having owned a Fuga for 8 years I would not trade it for anything. Best money spent. The VQ engine is the only engine on the ward list for 14 years. Also have never experienced any issue and only changed the Front suspension parts
Other than the suspension having problems, the Mark X is a great car. Minimal engine trouble. I have owned the grx130 for 3yrs and all I have done is basic servicing and changed suspension, thats all, I even don't believe it. Suspension cost 40k, good quality

I think the topic should have been " cars that are fuel guzzlers " coz that's where your emphasis was.loosing value is relative. It's a question of willing buyer and a willing seller.after all aren't vintage cars more expensive?
Resale value is overrated! Ukiangalia inflation, asset depreciation, cost of maintenance...it makes more sense to buy a car with the intent to keep it. I'd rather have a "ndimu" that makes me cry when I go to the garage but gives me a smile each time I drive it rather than have a boring car ati juu ya resale value! Kwani are you buying a car for your next customer ama for yourself?
My friend I have a brand new 2022 Tiguan, the car rides and consumes gasoline very well. Imagine, oil change is only required every 6 month! It has a five years warranty! So far so good!
I guess the backlash is because some people have recently bought these cars and they love em and hakuna mtu hupenda kuambiwa amefanya makosa but for the european brands i can agree that we don't have many mechanics who understand these cars and those that do hugonga watu... the other thing, these European cars are not driven under the same conditions we have here like those discos, they built as offroad vehicles but no one really actually takes them offroad in europe
I can comment about 3 VWs 1. 2008 VW Tiguan TDI 6speed manual. This was one of the best none-Benz Euro imports I ever got Ex-UK The performance remains excellent todate and the owner is content. It will cost a bit more at the service interval but it is amazing in every other way. 2. 2006 VW Touareg 2.5 TDI - Another sterling performer todate. Parts now getting easier to get and also cheap. 3. 2010 VW Touareg 3.0 TDI - Still performing quite like new todate. These vehicles MUST be DRIVEN at least once monthly. Am talking good hard drive kama Namanga hivi as that is the easier way to deal with carbon accumulation. These are all ex-UK cars and they are built for a lot of highway driving. Hapa Nairobi kwa jam they tend to clog up. These ones I can vouch for but with a caveat. Erick will agree with me that mechs hapa NBO are a major reason why these cars fail too soon. Euro diesels are built to last. If you buy locally used chances are it's already been abused so avoid unless yiu know the history.
You wanna know about cars, the guy to ask is Ricko Wokabi, hao wanaotupa mawe hata hawasomangi about cars, keep on adding salt to their wounds and when it hurts them just know that soon they'll be healed.
Unless you are a broker I have never understood why Kenyans buy vehicles for resale value. If you are buying a car chances are you are thinking long-term. By the time you have your car for a long time when looking to upgrade not necessarily trying to get much money from it.
@@benjamin7114 that's it. Kenyans want to buy cars they can't afford so they can get out of a fix when it gets tricky. If I am buying a car I am thinking of usability. If you are worried about fuel consumption for a specific car model, that means you haven't reached the class to own such a vehicle. There are many factors to think of when buying a car and I'm sure resale value is not the most critical one.
I bought an almost new 3000cc toyota Crown 2007 for 700k...3 years ago. Best deal and best car I have ever had. Reliable and very luxurious. Beast powerful and ironically not bad on fuel.

Wokabi, please advise. With skyrocketing fuel prices I am thinking of a project. I buy a 15-year-old diesel car ( SUV or Sedan) then convert it to run purely on purified waste vegetable oil ( biodiesel). What could be the legal implications of such a project. I can collect waste vegetable oil in restaurant and from fish and chips vendors and process it at home for personal use
This is great content. I love this very much. However, I believe people who are interested and able to afford high end luxurious cars(in this case not the affordable ones) don't look at resale value and prefer zero mileage vehicles. Resale value mostly matters to the middle class. The affluent buy cars and keep them in garages till they become classics or vintage for their kinsmen, that's when they truly become valuable. I've never seen any Japanese car amongst the most expensive vintages ever auctioned, that means brands matter. On May 5 2022, the world's most expensive car the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was auctioned for $142 million. I'm relatively new on the channel and I love your content. You are objective. You buy a 7_8 year old car. Use it on our roads for a few years and still expect to make a kill from the same car.
