And the fact that he was able to take a moment and collect himself and apologize shows a lot of character. And the way DC talk to him calmly and firmly shows what a class act he is. This is how adult interaction should take place.
Winn trains in the same gym DC did, also Winn had pulled out of this fight 2x before it actually happened. But that really has nothing to do with DC and it resulted in Hawes being put against 10-1, 13-1 and 10-1 records for his next 3 fights (losses) and will probably be the end of his UFC run with another loss
