    Reverse the shifter throw and you will have it right, Shift should follow g load. One the gas upshift by pulling back. On the brakes tap forward to downshift. Just like the older Formula type cars.

    A car with the lightness, precision, and "feel" of the Elise should always have had an engine such as this. Now this one is finally complete! Nice work, and great video thanks.

  • @rebel9838

    Besides everything just pulling up to a red light and reving the turbo'd inline 4cyl street bike motor is worth having the car. The sound of those motors is incredible it sounds like a formula 1 engine. I have many street bikes and the engine sound is just amazing.

    Man, I love this concept. The high revving, ultra quick revving Hayabusa engine suits that lightweight go-cart-like Lotus to a T. Here's a controversial approach: I think it would be even more fun without the turbo. You said you're only using a quarter inch of throttle... without the turbo you could get into it more and have even more fun driving it. The only other change I'd make would be to either adapt paddle shifters or reverse the pattern as others have suggested.
    Please keep us updated on developments to this car. Would love to see a POV camera view of full acceleration.

    • @mmoplayerful1
      @mmoplayerful1 5 лет назад

      Robert Smith The Turbo needs to stay. It’s what gives this car personality. This was his first time driving it of course he isn’t going to mash the throttle everywhere but on the drag strip or a track the turbo will prove worth while.

    • @catalintimofti1117
      @catalintimofti1117 Год назад

      I also believe that a standard busa engine would work better
      This car is not underpowered for its scope and the turbo/intercooler setup ads weight which is the enemy of this car

    • @RobertSmith-bh5cv
      @RobertSmith-bh5cv Год назад

      @@mmoplayerful1 Turbos muffle the exhaust note and create throttle lag. So it would likely have more "personality" without it. One more thing to go wrong too. But I'm usually on the side of normally aspirated so I might be biased.

    Great work! I would love to put this motor or a V8 Hayabusa in my miata. On a side note: I know this is an old vid so I have to comment on the quality of the mic. You have all these new Utubers today (2023)doing videos in cars like this and all you hear is wind noise and the engine and not the driver speaking. Maybe cuz it's a wired mic versus the Bluetooth ones everyone uses today or maybe it's just mic placement. Either way nicely done!

      That's only IF you are always matting the gas. If you are ginger footed on the take off, and mat it as you get up to speed, you will accelerate plenty fast and have gobs of power for high-speed maneuvering. If you think having 400hp in a light car would make it useless, that's because that's how you would drive it.

      Really dude. Have an exotic sports car... Do an engine swap and don't go heavy on the gas?
      If you are "gingerly" going to step on the gas do what he did... Keep it under 300hp.
