Same, the redesign just doesn't fit for me. I feel like the main purpose for EXE is to be scary and evil but it just doesn't make sense if all of the Sonic characters are in the same place as EXE. Also the main point for Faker is to be Sonic but fake it doesn't make sense of it's exactly Sonic, that's why the OG Faker Sonic has his shoes different because he's meant to be an imposter (sus). I really wish that the redesign used a 16-bit version of the Faker rather than the real Sonic. Just the off-putting feeling that Faker gives you in the original is what truly makes it great, and it's unfortunate that the feeling is absent in the redesign.
Now this is my opinion, but I do feel like people are misinterpreting the redesign. Cause at first, I genuinely expected Sonic to become the Black Sun version (I apologize for not knowing the name) with the sudden dark background. I even thought Sonic’s friends (and Robotnik) would be their .exe variants. This kinda felt like a what-if, since we aren’t 100% sure if Sonic.exe is a demonic possession or if he’s a whole new character entirely. The poorly written creepypasta didn’t really give us much except that it was a homicidal character that had an exact appearance to Sonic just killed his friends. It is unsettling too when you notice that GF isn’t there. So it’s like it’s own story with it’s own fair share of chills. Giving that, “something’s not right” feeling. Now if I were to nit-pick, I’d say it would have been nice to have Sonic sing along side with you in Black Sun, given that he isn’t phased but just bored. (Which does suit the character.) And keeping Boyfriend’s sprite from “You Can’t Run?” Excellent touch! Just goes to show how much work and thought was put into this mod. 9.5/10. Redesign is good. And I praise the art team for not calling it a “remaster.”

nobody so far has been able to remaster or remake the Faker sprites well. they always add emotion and expression to Faker when the thing that makes the original so eerie is the blank, forced, toothless, black void of a smile. you can tell its sonic but something is very, very wrong, yet its hard to put your finger on. its a skinsuit. a phony. a Faker.
