Hi Mary and everyone from boris fx, I follow all your tutorials one by one and I really enjoy how you go in depth with some issues. But I think powermesh would deserve a lot more attention, given that this feature is brand new and in a way works differently than the other features in Mocha pro. Certain things are still difficult for me to understand. For example, why am I making a mesh bigger than I really need? How is it possible that I can afford to adjust the powermesh by hand when it is so sensitive to the slightest movement? Why is it necessary to click on "unwarp" before importing into AE and how does warp and unwarp actually work? I repeat, I am very grateful for how often and how well you create tutorials, you are my favorite youtubers: D. Thank you and move on
These are great questions and are going to be answered as you get through the other PowerMesh exercises in the course. We also have a growing number of PowerMesh tutorials on our site : borisfx.com/videos/?tags=&search=powermesh I can recommend the PowerMesh Top Tips one as a great place to start : borisfx.com/videos/mocha-pro-2021-top-powermesh-tips/ Thanks for the comment and I hope you stick through the rest of the course.
Hey, I have a problem with the powermesh. whenever I try to render the Warp option render and there is a lot of layers other than the power mesh layer in the mocha panel, it never work! it only work if I delete all other layers except for the one with the power mesh data of course which is not convenient to work with as I obviously need the other layers tracking data. Any help?
Hi. In Stabilize, do you have your PowerMesh layer as the layer with the cog selected? That is the trigger to let Mocha know what layer to use. If you do and it is still not working, could you report it either on the forums (forum.borisfx.com/ ) or directly to Support (borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/ ). Give them screenshots of your setup too. They'll be happy to see what the issue is.
the subtract porion top of the mesh track not working for me.. that means not subtract the protect area which don't want to be track .. like shadow area, overlapping area. any one pls help
With PowerMesh you might want to be a bit more generous with the size of the track mattes than with regular tracking. Shadows can be quite tricky things with subplanar tracking. If you're still having problems, post a question on the forums with some screenshots : forum.borisfx.com
Interesting, you didn't even set the hold outs/garbage mattes to subtract or transparent... Perhaps this is why it's not been working for me. The user manual did not answer that question for me :/
If you're tracking inside of Mocha, then you don't need to do anything special with shapes to make them hold out masks. Any visible layer will block out any shapes beneath it in the layer order. The add/subtract/transparent settings work when you are rendering masks or exporting those shapes out.
