I second the request for "Ain't Going Down (til the Sun Comes Up)"! They blow it out of the water. Adam slays it throughout, but there's one sound at the end of a harmonica solo that'll have you screaming!! Sounds like an electric guitar! 😳 🤯 It's only on Facebook now ... something about licensing issues. Probably because it's a Garth song. *sighs* It's still worth any trouble you've got to go through to hear it/react to it!! It's flat out AMAZING!
I'm 67 years old, and for me the gold standard for this song was Bobby Hatfield on the Andy Williams Show, 1965, 3 minutes of perfection, live, no auto-tune. This is at least that good. I didn't think anyone could do this song better than Bobby did, but Home Free put the right spin on it since it was originally for a (bad) prison movie (Unchained) in the 50's. This has a super authentic feel, and the guys just nailed the song!
The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. They gave it an old doo-wop feel. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family. The song focuses on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
Love that they took this back to 1955 when it was written and did it DooWop style. I think you're the first reactor to notice the harmonies when Austin starts singing, it sounds like a peal of bells, to me anyway, and I saw that you'd heard it! Great reaction, I always enjoy yours as you're so knowledgeable - glad you've got some time to do some more.
I so enjoy how detailed your reactions are in noticing and pointing out the details of their songs as you break it down. I'm never disappointed by the subtleties you notice and mention that make me want to rewatch Home Free's videos and marvel at how I completely missed them the first time around! On that note have you seen Austin Brown the top tenor for Home Free and his version of Unchained Melody that he did with Steve Martinez on the guitar? If not, check it out, it doesn't disappoint!
I missed watching your reactions to Home Free. Thank you for making time to do it. You are my favorite reactor to watch and i hope you continue to make time for my favorite band! JB Crew!!
Good to have you back, missed your reactions. Sure appreciate your analysis of the songs and point out interesting pieces I may have missed. Would love for you to reacts to Austins solo work, his cover of "bring Him Home' is truly Amazing and I love "Not Suppose to Love You Anymore". Also Home Free just release a new one on Face Book "Ain't Going Down till the Sun Comes UP". It is spectacular, Adam is a Beast on this one. You just can not miss it !!!
These guys are each giants -- both physically (really tall especially with cowboy boots, I mean like avg 6'2") and musically --- but put them together and oh my lord. Magic.
This is my favorite rendition of this song. It's absolutely beautiful. The gritty prison video keeps with the original theme for which the song was written. Love your reactions. I learn so much. I had to come back and add something. The videographer for this is genius. We Home Fries are very spoiled and get a lot of visuals of the members of Home Free in their videos. When I first watched this, I kept thinking there isn't much Adam in this and he's got his back to the camera so much, then: there isn't much Rob or Chance in this. And really just Austin and Tim but just short glimpses. Then it dawned on me. Having them visually restricted by short exposure to the camera and obscured by the bars adds to that feeling of being kept from us and being restricted and "out of reach in jail". Brilliant! Or am I just reading more into it than what it is?
Glad you're back doing Home Free!😊 I've missed your incredible, informative reaction to them! Can't wait for you to react to "Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up", like others in this comment section! It's on their FB page, not RUclips. It makes you want to run around the house like Garth Brooks does on stage! 🥳😊
Nice to see you reacting to Home Free again. I appreciate your musician's insight. Always on point. Echoing other comments: check out "Aint Going Down (Till the Sun Comes Up). Have Mercy! The boys are on FIRE!
JB - you hit the nail on the head with those chords for sure!!! That was the first thing I noticed about this arrangement... The bell tones was SICK on Austin's portion and the high note at the end was just plain awesomeness....Loved your take my brother. Keep up the good work!! RichieC (Atlanta)
First I am so happy that you are picking up gigs now that the rona easing up. For someone who obviously loves music as much as you, yes listening is good, but to be able to create it for others has got to be the ultimate hifeel lighter for the resolution. Love your reactions, but if you get the chance to balance reactions and the performance I will cheer you on. Doing what you love makes everything else you do that much better. Home Free is a sensory feast. You don't just hear there music, you feel it to the bone. They inhabit the lyric and take you on a journey where the harmonies lead the way to a destination that is so satisfying that it makes you smile for having bought a ticket for the trip.
If you haven't yet you should check out Austin's solo version of this same song, recorded in his home, just him and Steven Martinez on guitar, sitting in comfy chairs in front of the fireplace. It's titled Unchained Melody sung like you've NEVER heard it! I'm still tickled that the two videos were dropped exactly 13 months apart.
Jarvis, I just love your reactions and analysis. Home Free killed it. They went back to the roots of the song. It was written for a prison movie called Unchained in 1955. Such a good video as you said and those voices are just so good. Loved the black and white film and the typewriter. (Yeah, I know typewriters too - hahaha). Loved Tim starting the song (that was different to hear his lower voice) and then handing off to Austin. Such a good rendition. 😀🥰
I don't know how all of that licensing stuff works, but I watched "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up)" on Patreon. Three other reactors have it posted on their RUclips channels with the video, not just the soundtrack. It's outstanding, but I don't think you'll get the full effect without the video. Another is one of Tim's solos from his Doo Wop album "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". Love your reactions.
These guys have some really Feel Good songs. My personal favourite include "Can't Stop the Feeling", "Friends in Low Places", Austin and Tim doing "My Maria" (not a cappella), "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" collab with Peter Hollens and a LOT of people, "Elvira" with the Oak Ridge Boys, and "American Pie" with Don McLean.
You should definitely check out Austin's solo version of this song - just him and a buddy on an acoustic guitar - it came out about a year ago. You'll definitely be able to hear both the similarities and the differences between his performances. Also, check out their latest, a cover of Garth Brooks' "Ain't Going Down 'Till the Sun Comes Up". It's ridiculous. Adam Rupp's 'no-monica' is crazy, and the vocals are superb. The fast paced lyrics and long slides are cool to listen to when a singer does it (i.e. Garth), but hearing 2 guys do it together in perfect harmony is on another level.
Glad to have you back! I really enjoy your reaction videos! Keep up the good work and I’m happy that you’re exploring Home Free! They are one of my favorites!
I’m so old I had two years of typing class in high school! 🤣 seriously, this is so exceptionally done and when Austin did that run up on “I need your love” I shouted the first time I watched this because I was so excited about how he nailed it. I love the boys and seeing them live is an experience you don’t want to miss. They are just as clean as their studio recordings, and a whole lot of fun.
My brother got in trouble in typing class because he’d yell “ F***!” or “ Sh**!” every time he made a mistake. It was like he had Tourette’s or something. 😁
I love to hear your analysis of the piece. I’m not a musician but I appreciate when you (with your knowledge and experience) point out, and explain things that untrained ears don’t grasp. Hopefully we all become better listeners because you’re good teacher. Blessed day to you.
Glad to see you back and that things in the "real world" are getting back to normal. Whatever that is. Lol! When people take on these massively iconic songs, I usually cringe because so many musicians and vocalists have covered them and have fallen way short. But Home Free never worries me! They have a way of taking the original and paying homage to it. All the while putting their own flavor on it! Home Free released their version of Garth Brooks song Ain't Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up! It's done to perfection and it actually spends time showcasing Adam's beatboxing skills front and center. It's on their Facebook page due to some licensing issues I guess. But reactors haven't mentioned having any problems reacting from that video here on RUclips! It's insanely good! Thank you for the great reaction! ❤
I am glad your rested and now back. You were missed. Great reaction to the cover of this song, only the Righteous Brothers cover can compete with this. Looking forward to more of your reactions especially Home Free. You have a great day
Jarvis I really enjoy your dives into what makes the music...always fun to watch ! The attention to detail even goes to the setting in a jail, as the original was sung in a 1955 B&W movie where the song came from. The famous Righteous Brothers version in 1965 was, alas, a cover
I am so glad you got to react to this one. I love this version. I am glad they took the song back to its origins for the video. They really put your facial expressions 'through their steps' with this one. Till HF makes us meet again.
A wonderfully sung and performed cover of Home Free. With their own twist to it, but still keeping the respect for the original. The leads, the harmonies, the Doo-wop, the bass, everything just so good. Also wonderful how they bring back the real story. Beautifully portrayed in black and white and the shadow on the wall of the inhuman Adam
I so much love/appreciate your reactions - they combine not only your analysis but also include your enjoyment of the music ! Keep it up and stay real ! This was a most excellent cover.
Home Free and their harmonies!! Such powerful visuals and a remarkable version of the song ❤️ I know it hearkens back to the mid-century movie and they portray it spectacularly, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❤️🎼🥰🎶❤️
I love this group like I haven't loved any groups since I was a teeny bopper. They have great vocals and harmony and thanks for the reaction. They should come to LA!!!! I'm also there.
I'm a home free super fan their music has helped me though some tough times I like ptx but I'm country all the way I love all these guys they can sing the phone book and it would be great thank you for listening to them
They smooth as a 3 day weekend on this one. Great reaction J. Say man...how about some Dirty Loops bruh. You haven't reacted to "Breakdown" yet. Big time R&B groove to it. I think you'd dig it. Thanks for what you do man.
I always love your reactions and this one definitely made me smile. Missed you, glad your other projects are keeping you busy, but good to have you back. Go back and listen again. I think there was an interesting transition from Tim to Austin if I remember correctly and you paused there and possibly missed. I think you'll appreciate it though.
I love your energy and your reactions. I know you’ve been busy at your real job from your Instagram stories so thanks for reacting to this song. Home Free did such a great job with the video paying homage to the origins of the song. And the Doo Wop feel of the arrangement really suits it.
I send Home Free a message about once a week, telling them that they need to come to SoCal (Coachella would be good). They keep adding new concert dates so who knows, maybe they will get out this way sometime soon?
As a musician, you really should check out frog leap studios. Metal covers of non-metal songs. He plays every instrument, does the vocals (he occasionally gas guest singrrs/guitarists), the sound engineering and video editing. You can't go wrong with virtually any of his almost 500 covers, but my personal favs are "Beds Are Burning" - Midnight Oil, "Like A Prayer" - Madonna, "Insane In The Brain" - Cyprus Hill and "Tragedy" - BeeGees. Popular choices are "Hello" - Adele, "Africa" - Toto and "Sultans Of Swing" - Dire Straits. Those 3 all have guests.
What happened to the reactin to Tim foust and Peter Hollens Misty Mountains? You should check out tim foust's talent singing Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay.
As always, great reaction. I adore Home Free. Now to go in another direction, would you please check out Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats. S.O.B, Need never get old, anything by them. Their live performances are even better than the recorded.
This one started off a little slow for me…. Which made me think something big was coming. And yes, they delivered as always. Love your reactions to them, your facial expressions say it all.
hey jarvis! not really related to this video, but i love your reactions and how you percieve the drumming and explain it to us, so i was wondering if you could make a video on eloy casagrande (sepultura’s drummer)! i don’t know if you’re familiar with him or the group but either way i think it would be an awesome video! sepultura is a huge metal band from brazil, and eloy is just insane on the drums hahaha you could react to him playing “desperate cry” from the sickdrummermagazine channel, or any of the videos of him playing on his own channel, where he uploads ridiculous covers too, like the “herectic anthem” by slipknot or “battery” by metallica! anyways, love your energy! -a subscriber from brasil ❤️
Another homfredian gem. This song will always belong to Bobby Hatfield. But damn - they came THIS CLOSE to dethroning him. Holy smoking rockets. Nobody sings like these men.
I know there’s probably copyright issues that would prevent this, but I would love to see (or hear, rather) a song like this broken up into its different parts. I don’t have a very good ear for music & I really struggle to hear the harmonies apart from the melody line. After I read a comment below referring to the sound of bells when Austin starts singing, I went back & had to really concentrate to hear them, but they were there. I never would have picked up on that detail w/out that comment. Oh well. 🤷♀️😄 I will just have to enjoy the music as a whole.
I have enjoyed your thorough (scholarly) reactions. I have hoped that one day someone would react to Ger O'Donnell. He is primarily a cover musician focusing largely on Irish music. One of my favorite, however is his cover of "God Bless the Broken Road." If copyright issues permit Ger's music might be interesting to your followers.
Check out the original singer Todd Duncan who sang it in the 1955 movie "UNCHAINED "also in that year Al Hibbler, Roy Hamilton and Les Baxter all had placed the song the Billboard Cart. 1965 we have the most acclaimed and popular version by Bobby Hatfield and the Manhattan Transfer did a remake of a cover in 1984. These gents for those with a beard they have always had one.
This is the ONLY version of the song that I love. And I was around for the original. Which kind of shows my age, I guess. And yes, I learned how to type on an ancient Underwood typewriter, complete with carbon paper for copies, and a ribbon with both black and red colors. Millennials, you have it so easy.
I second the request for "Ain't Going Down (til the Sun Comes Up)"! They blow it out of the water. Adam slays it throughout, but there's one sound at the end of a harmonica solo that'll have you screaming!! Sounds like an electric guitar! 😳 🤯
It's only on Facebook now ... something about licensing issues. Probably because it's a Garth song. *sighs* It's still worth any trouble you've got to go through to hear it/react to it!! It's flat out AMAZING!
You can buy the song on iTunes. You have to search the name of the song, though. It’s not under Home Free, just under the name of the song.
or a live version because OMG they are Gooood !
I'm 67 years old, and for me the gold standard for this song was Bobby Hatfield on the Andy Williams Show, 1965, 3 minutes of perfection, live, no auto-tune. This is at least that good. This has a super authentic feel, and the guys just nailed the song!
Bobby didn't even use the bass singing partner on this one. No one can touch these five singers. GBjj
CK out Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up. A Garth Brooks cover. Adam Rupp kills it.♥️
Love, love, love your reaction videos! You are fun to watch! Home Free is awesome! They're truly gifted!

Wow, love the history. I had no idea and I am learning so much every time I come around. I love that. Thank you.
😃👍🤩
Best Country R&B group EVER.
Glad to see you back doing some Home Free! Another great reaction on this fantastic group. Thank you
Love Home Free. They just don't miss. Great reaction
When the stank face comes out, you know you’re doing something right. Gotta love those Home Free guys!
Sir, thank you for making my days more energetic and positive. I agree. The voices are outstanding!
Well, another masterpiece from HF!! Ty for your reactions! Home Free forever!!
I'll throw in a vote for "Ain't Going Down (til the sun comes up)!
Love this they did it justice please check out there latest AINTGOING DOWN TILL THE SUN COMES UP its 🔥
Yes!!!
Agreed!
Always loved Elvis's passionate version of this ... but Home Free's more melancholy rendition is beautiful !! Now I've got two favorites !!
The video was like it was from the '50s 60's era with the doo-wop in the background. One of them (Chance) actually lives in the L.A. area.
Oh my gosh I love watching you Jarvis 😍
Love that they took this back to 1955 when it was written and did it DooWop style. Thanks for pointing that out, I never would have heard that beautiful detail w/out your comment! 😄
Love this reaction 🥰🥰
You gotta check out their new video.
Ain't going down till the sun comes up!! Adam is a beast in it 💪 🔥🔥
I so enjoy how detailed your reactions are in noticing and pointing out the details of their songs as you break it down. Manual typewriter!! I learned to type on one of these. So hard to type consistently and get clean results. Younger folks have no idea......
Austin holding that last note, just hangin' out waitin' on the guys to show up.
"Ain't Going Down (till the Sun Comes Up! You're gonna love it! Love your commentary!
Your HF expressions are awesome!!!❤️
Wow. Wow. Wow
These guys are each giants -- both physically (really tall especially with cowboy boots, I mean like avg 6'2") and musically --- but put them together and oh my lord. Magic.
I thank God that I have lived long enough to hear these men.
Loved the reaction always love when you cover Home Free and about the type writer loved it millennials so true.
You really add to the listening experience 🎶 thanks so much I'll definitely be back for more home free
Have really missed your reactions, especially to Home Free. I always learn so much from you and appreciate the skill so much more. Thank You!

50's 60's vibe and motown rhythm. i loved this. thank you.

I love your energy and your reactions. I know you’ve been busy at your real job from your Instagram stories so thanks for reacting to this song. Home Free did such a great job with the video paying homage to the origins of the song. And the Doo Wop feel of the arrangement really suits it.
Your reaction is absolutely awesome, you really broke it down so well and love your attention to details.
I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned, this was Tim's arrangement.
I send Home Free a message about once a week, telling them that they need to come to SoCal (Coachella would be good). They keep adding new concert dates so who knows, maybe they will get out this way sometime soon?
If you liked this version? Go check out Austin's version. he did in January of 2021. He sings it totally different from the Home Free version.
My all-time favorite song + My all-time favorite band = HEAVEN The guys are in jail because they killed this song!!
Idk know a lot about them but I loved this cover!!! You always get me hyped with your reactions!
The audio on your channel is excellent!
Have missed you!
If you go back and look Adam Rupp was sporting a black eye. Next do Aint Going Down Till the Sun Comes Up please you wont regret it
It hurt my heart to see the guys "in jail" and Adam's black eye, but it's all for their art.
So happy to see you back! Wasn’t this a great rendition?
Glad to see things picking up for you! Really missed ya though! Glad your back!

Love this song and love the video.❤️
As always, great reaction. I adore Home Free. Now to go in another direction, would you please check out Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats. S.O.B, Need never get old, anything by them. Their live performances are even better than the recorded.
This one started off a little slow for me…. Which made me think something big was coming. And yes, they delivered as always. Love your reactions to them, your facial expressions say it all.
I think the slow pace was an artistic choice to emphasize the slow passage of time.
Love it at 5:20
You have been missed!!
Love 50s doowop. 😏
hey jarvis! not really related to this video, but i love your reactions and how you percieve the drumming and explain it to us, so i was wondering if you could make a video on eloy casagrande (sepultura’s drummer)! i don’t know if you’re familiar with him or the group but either way i think it would be an awesome video! sepultura is a huge metal band from brazil, and eloy is just insane on the drums hahaha
you could react to him playing “desperate cry” from the sickdrummermagazine channel, or any of the videos of him playing on his own channel, where he uploads ridiculous covers too, like the “herectic anthem” by slipknot or “battery” by metallica!
anyways, love your energy!

outstanding ❤
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another homfredian gem. This song will always belong to Bobby Hatfield. But damn - they came THIS CLOSE to dethroning him. Holy smoking rockets. Nobody sings like these men.
You really should react to Junna 's new playthrough. It's painkiller by Judas priest. She's amazing.
Cool Tim
Austin does an amazing solo version of this song on his individual channel (Austin Brown).
Please go check out Amazed! I’m certain that it will not disappoint. I absolutely love your energy and your reactions!!
Are you going to look at Nandi tribute to Neil Peart playing Tom Sawyer
PLEASE react to Folsom Prison Blues. They did an amazing job!
This is the ONLY version of the song that I love. And I was around for the original. Which kind of shows my age, I guess. And yes, I learned how to type on an ancient Underwood typewriter, complete with carbon paper for copies, and a ribbon with both black and red colors. Millennials, you have it so easy.
Ahh yes, the messy carbon paper!
I've seen them in concert
New marcus veltri videos are out. You should react when you get the time :)
