Instead, Yoel and Whittaker had to fight it out for an interim belt while Bisping sat out for a year and got elective knee surgery while he campaigned to get the GSP fight made, even having Georges on his podcast. GSP had been retired for 4 years and had never fought at MW, and it was later revealed he suffered from ulcerative colitis to put on the weight. So, that was so much worse, and again, a precedent has been set, so you Brits, and especially Aspinall who's close with Bisping, can't cry about it now.

You have to remember at that time they’d just loss Francis, Conor was in limbo (still is), Poatan wasn’t yet the big star he now is, O’Malley and Ilia were still contenders, pretty much Izzy was the only big headline star they had so the chance to parachute Jon Jones back into the spotlight was just too good to turn down. He then gets done not once, but three times for PEDs, funnily enough after this once USADA had finally got on top of him, he looked a shadow of his former self, including close fights to Gustafson, Silva, and lost to Reyes who then went on to lose to whoever. Granted he had a fair few good victories in his reign, but a fair few were of an age advantage or were middleweights fighting at LHW. He looked entirely unconvincing against Lionheart in what was meant to be his prime for Christ sake, and ducked a short notice Chael Sonnen fight to save a card, again another middleweight, not in my opinion the actions of a true GOAT. The guy was a great fighter and I'll admit, helped revolutionise how rounded a true MMA athlete should be, but the praise he gets is so overblown. Would love to see what he looks like against someone truly his size, that's a well rounded MMA athlete, in their prime...I wonder who that could be?
