    Phantom Manor is the Haunted Mansion equivalent at Disneyland Paris. Darker and more foreboding than other versions, it contains scenes that are similar to other Haunted Mansions but also scenes (like the frontier scene) that are very different. There is little narration, the story is told mostly through the music and scenery. This is the full experience including the exterior, queue, stretch room, corridor gallery to doom buggies, all ride scenes including both sides of the crypt, little Leota and the exit.

    The outside of the house is lovelier and more appropriate for a haunted mansion. This ride has a consistent theme with the bride. Nice touch.

    When I was little, my parents forced me to go to this mansion and I remember being so scared in the beginning and so fascinated in the end. That memory always stuck with me. Watching this made me relive all those memories.

    The reason why the bride appears in certain areas, is because the story focuses a little more on her, and her groom. She never took off her dress off, nor did she let go of her bouquet, because she believed that one day, he will come.
    "Someday, he will come." - the bride
    She sang to her groom, waited for him, until the manor's staff believed that she had lost her mind already. The phantom brought in some of his dead guests, to have a party (the ballroom scene) and until now, the bride believes that her groom will come.

    • @benjacobs574
      @benjacobs574 7 лет назад +12

      Rewey Lavilles, this doesn't represent European architecture at all, as the two in the US don't represent architecture in the US, it's just supposed to look like a creepy house.
      Also, architecture varies A LOT from country to country - the level of difference between architecture in France and Spain is the same as that between France amd the US.

  • @sweetyguts2849
    @sweetyguts2849 5 лет назад +7

    I have been on his version of the Haunted Mansion a few times, and I have to say it is a lot scarier than the 2 in the U.S. The versions of this ride in the states is more family friendly and is more appropriate for smaller children. This ride terrified me when I was younger.

    • @kamilyakadyr7063
      @kamilyakadyr7063 2 года назад +2

      Every time I've been on this ride I've always seen a little kid cry on the way out. This version of the ride is terrifying no matter how old you are hahah. I wonder if they did this on purpose because they expected European people to be more tolerable with this kind of stuff, than Americans would be. This is much cooler though, because phantom/haunted mansions are supposed to be scary and not "cozy" lol

    *Interesting fact:* Phantom Manor's exterior design is derived from Second Empire architecture style in America and has been trademarked for being depicted as haunted houses in the horror genre of America, which began from being featured in Alfred Hitchcock's theatrical adaption of *Psycho*

    I've been to Disneyland Paris once when I was younger and really wanted to experience this. Unfortunately as you can imagine this attraction was extremely crowded and I got badly claustrophobic in the first room/part of it. The guides stuck rigidly to their character at first (they weren't smiley and friendly like in this video and were very creepy back then!) and wouldn't let me off at first, thinking I was scared of the ride itself. Kinda wish they hadn't got what I was saying now though and I wish I'd just toughed it out as it was only that first room and the rest looked really cool. Oh well, maybe one day!

    I feel like the realistic corpses don't work quite as well as the stylized figures in the Haunted Mansion.

    28 years ago, i was standing in line for this ride in Paris and one of the ghost staff outside tried to scare me and i punched him in the face out of fear. I was 5 years old. They contemplated kicking us all out because i had already assaulted goofy earlier

      When i was there in the 90's there were a lot of visitors who want to visit this attraction. There was a man in a skeleton-costume outside taking photographs. I'm not a fan of ghost-trains. 🙂

    Was that supposed to be Freddy Krueger around 12:25? He kinda' looked like a real person on my screen. I also noticed there's only 4 singing busts on this one, which I like, and they're all sitting upright. The one in CA has a 5th one, knocked to the side, and I think they're tilted now.
    After viewing these videos of the Mansion in different cities I guess they all have something cheesy about them. One thing they said in the Walt Disney documentary is that one of the Imagineers wanted it to be spookier, and more life-like, but they wanted to keep in mind that it "is" Disneyland, afterall, so they didn't take it too far with anything too freaky...

    what I don't get is how has Universal not sued? Seriously that's the house from Psycho. That's the Norman Bates home.

      The Phantom Manor was inspired by mid 18th Century Victorian era architecture. You cannot sue architecture.
      Its like trying to sue old fashion, lmao.

      you can search the audio of the ride in english voice by vincent price. You an even ask the cast memeber to put the english version for the stretching room.
      I´ll give you the script.
      ______
      Where hinges creek in doorless chambers, where strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls... where candle lights flicker though the air is depthly still... this is... Phantom...Manorrr.
      Welcome curious friendssss! You may not believe it but beauty once lived in this house. And beauty lives here still, show yourself! (picture of the bride appears above the strectching room doors)... Lovely isn´t she..?
      Come... I have more beauty to show you. (we enter the stretching room)
      Our tour begins here in this gallery (the stretching room) where you gaze upon the sweet and innocense of youth... Aaaah but things are not always as they seem! Can it be this room is actually stretching??? And notice this! (music intensifies) This chamber has no windows and no doors, whcih offers you this chilling challenge...to find a way out! (Ghost host Vincent price chuckles)
      ... Ofcourse there is always... my way! (Queue in the Iconic Vicent Price laugh).
      (Stretching room ends, we continue the queue and *walk* through an L shape hall way / corridor where the other paintings are)
      I didn´t mean to frighten you let us continue our tour there is much to see, so look alive and stay together, I hate to loose you, so sooon.
      As you travel pass these priceless works of art perhaps you sense a disquieting metamorphasis... of course it´s only a trick of the light, the real beauty of this house awaits us farther on. There is a party in her honor (wedding party), and she´ll just DIE if we´re late...
      And now curious souls the carriage (buggies) approaches to take you to the party and beyond. I´ll leave you now but I´ll be waiting for you... on the other side... Have afrightful good time.
      (Now the ride begins)
