Yeah but maybe "normal life" does have to change. People who work in the office don't actually need to be in the office. You can do everything remotely.
You have less stress having to commute in everyday, you get a nice work life balance and generally you are happier and healthier. Oh and also you won't produce as much CO2 and likely wouldn't even need a car if you live in a town.

Really the only things on the roads should be service, company, and public transport.

My family members have been employed on the North Sea oil rigs, so I'm aware of this too.

It's classic British brian to be overcome with blind rage at being made late for work by protestors, only to have complete indifference towards the very real terrifying experiences of others seeking asylum.

Many of the people who take the long and expensive journey to seek asylum here will have family in the UK or be able to speak English due to our colonial past making the UK a more desirable place to try and rebuild.

Only rich people (such as the JSO) would survive in a world without oil.
The present world population could not be sustained in such a - largely pre-industrial -world.
Imagine that scene without oil-based products. The electronic megaphone would have to replaced by a cardboard cone.
Half the clothing would be gone and the price of wool, cotton and linen based clothing would be unaffordable for most.
If we went back to coal and steam based power that would not reduce CO2 emissions so we might need wind and water mills.
How to make the steel for the machines without mining coal?
Back to wood? Think of the deforestation that would cause. And so on…
Yet I haven’t seen any media discussion of such topics. Why is this?
