  • The Marabou Spey is a great fly to introduce you to winding hackle and dubbing bodies. It's a very effective steelhead pattern and every angler should have some of these in their fly boxes.

    Great video! I recently have been trying to tie these. This is by far one of the best instruction on how to tie. Thanks for keeping this simple.

    that is some shape of hook what are they like in fish landed and fish lost count thanks for your videos there great

      The hook is a traditional style of salmon hook that's probably been made for close to two centuries. This style of salmon hook is not that far removed from that of a circle hook in the shape of its bend. They hold on to fish quite well, otherwise they wouldn't still be around after all this time. The circle hook concept is probably 7,000 - 8,000 years old.

      Yes, I do, though Rob usually ties for customers and would leave that choice to them.
