Glad you took the Escort, saw your car at the show. Has to be said the XR club area had amazingly great looking cars, the national day was great fun

Thanks for the comment and feedback on the XROC stand, we all had a great day. I thought the RS and XRs on show were outstanding; next year I’ll bring an RS! Thanks for watching.

Brilliant. Brought back so many happy memories for me of when I used to be a member of the XROC and attended many shows back in the 90's.I owned numerous XR3i's (mainly mk3's) and an XR4i over the years.
Wow. 40yrs of the XROC. Where does the time go. Only seems like yesterday when we did the 'TACS' (10th Anniversary Celebration Show) show at Silverstone. We did a mega chequered flag using black & white XR's with the red ones making up the flag pole.
Anyone remember the year before that at Snibston Discovery park with over 100 black XR's around the embankment?
I still have the vhs video's that where filmed from both shows. (must get them onto Digital format)
Thank you for a great video and sparking those memories for me.

Great video & thanks for taking us along.
Where you stayed is the same place we stayed when we did the show ( nice outside tap to the left of main entrance for washing the car) the car park used to like a mini show the night before and as you say perfect for a 5 min drive to Donnington.
Looking at your list of shows I'm surprised we've not bumped into each other - I've done a lot of the same shows, we cheated this year for Mount Edgecombe and got the ferry over 😂
Hope to say hello one day and thanks again for your videos 👍

Thanks for the comment Neil, it’s great to know you enjoyed the video. Thanks also for the kind words about my XR3i; the camera is fairly kind to the car, but it is a good survivor and I love the old thing. Thanks for watching and I hope you stay tuned.

A great video. Well done for persevering with the XR3i. The Italian tune-up triumphs once more! I couldn't help notice the temperature gauge reading very low. I hope the engine temperature is high enough. I had a disastrous fault on an early auto-choke carb' XR3 which always ran too cold: a complete 'mare as it fouled plugs on the motorway and then had to be stationary until the plugs cleared again. Happy days...

Looked a cracking show. I didn't doubt the 3i for a second, just needed some premium juice and a spirited drive to clear its throat! I'm sure you do already, but 99 E5 only in the old stuff, all of my 80s/90s cars get it only, plus the Golf R, my wife puts E10 in the old 1.8t Golf though... 🙄😁

    • @cornishcarcollectors

Thanks for the comment Ricky. I too was fairly confident in the old XR3i, but the poor running really was quite bad... as I said in the video, it was "kill or cure"! 🤣
All my cars run on high octane, albeit sometimes difficult to get the 99 (settle for 97). I am certain it makes a difference. Thanks for watching and look forward to hearing from you again in the future.

    Hello Andy
Another 1st class video for the channel and credit to you mate i really enjoyed it.
People think its probably crazy 9hrs Cornwall to Derby but as im a lorry driver i relate to that as todays traffic is absolutely madness.
Anyway that trip would of done the Escort the world of good probably what the car needed.
I haven't been to Donnington myself with the RS for a while but my favourite visit of Donnington was the 2005 25th RS anniversary where i was privileged to be taken round in a Rouse 304R and seeing those RS200,s in your video was special as one up for sale at the moment for a cool £240K
In all it looked a brillant day and driving the Escort on the parade lap must of been priceless some some really good views of the cars as they were side by side.
Hope the Cossie is coming on well and looking forward to the update as that is gonna sure be a show stopper if you take it to next years RS Nationals for sure.
    Take care mate drive safe
    Nigel 😎

Thanks for the comment Nigel and continued support for my Channel, I really appreciate it. The Escort still isn't quite right, but lots better than it was pre-Donington - as you say, the drive has done it some good.
Hope to see you and your RS at the next RS Owners' Club national day as I'm planning on attending with my Sierra Cosworth next year... but having said that, it was the plan for this year too! 🤣
Update on the Sierra coming soon, thanks for watching and keep in touch.

    Cool video..
Lately I wanted to run my Astra Bertone 2.2 convertible as you mentioned its not as comfortable as a more modern car..
Having said this My 2.2 Convertible has done few good runs to London and down Kent.. But I do love driving my Audi A6 2.7TDI estate its such a comfy car.. fast easy to drive automatic..
Its ULEZ free in Astra.. I have the 1.9 CDTI Twin Top I've sadly not gelled with this and I was considering buying the later edition Vauxhall Cascade euro6 preferred..
Forgot to mention I don't look after my cars to perfection there minor retro in some cases.. But my Astra was always missing a beat and I remember back in my driving days as mini cab driver I was forever changing the HT leads, So I guess my Astra being more modern needs a coil pack I felt it drove a little better than before So maybe it could get better with much more miles on the clock.. I have some major work to don my Astra well on all my cars its a number crunching game..
Down to good old fashion cash older car less value but up turn in value against a new car with premium price and de-valuing values for 6-8 years to come.
Love Fords and Vauxhall convertibles so I may just buy a one owner Vauxhall Astra Bertone ..

Thanks for the comment and sharing your current cars - I like the older Vauxhalls too (don't tell my Ford friends!). @cornishcarcollectors  Год назад

      Thanks for the question Richard.
The Cosworth is still with the electrician (been there nearly two months). I popped in to see it this week - it’s had new coolant fans and new loom to the fan, plus the wiring is now pretty much all done for the engine. Just need to sort the feed for the starter motor and we should be able to turn the key!
As soon as the car reaches this stage then I’ll put another video out.
Restoring this car has taken me so much longer than I planned! I appreciate you following the restoration, thanks. 👍🏻

I’m getting it back in 1 October; it’s being parked in a garage showroom where the electrics have been fully sorted… I should have a running car! Then, attention turns to the interior. I’ll put a video out as soon as I get the car back.
Thanks for following the restoration, I appreciate it. 👍🏻
