- This clip is from Letterman's "Old-Fashioned Christmas Show" from Dec. of 1987. It's a take-off of smarmy old network TV Christmas shows.
(Update: Nov. 2012) When I uploaded this clip two years ago, I intended it to be a funny reminder of all those contrived Christmas shows we watched when we were growing up. It's also a dead-on parody of the Bing Crosby/David Bowie Christmas show segment which I USED to have here on YT before I got the Royal Smackdown from the Crosby estate and YT. But, I never meant it to be a dumping ground for all this hatred and name-calling. So, I'm left with 3 options: either I have to start blocking people OR disallow comments OR take the darn thing offline completely....it's your choice. Merry Christmas.

Used to love Letterman during those days. I unfortunately once he got to CBS he would never let Nugent on his show in a million years. His politics became much more obvious too.

Back before Dave revealed just how far left and wimpy he is. Really hard to imagine that David Letterman was once funny, but it is true. The guest spots with Ted Nugent are some of the best.

I heard his guitar work over many years, and I Astley would say he’s one of the best all around. Heard his live concert Damn Yankees unbelievable.
This makes me sad… reminds me of a funnier, better time. Back before we all found out the truth of what had been going on in this country.

I'm old enough to remember when the Amboy Dukes first appeared on the scene, and even though I've never been a fan of Nugent's, I find this to be a refreshing change from his tiresome well-rehearsed right-wing rants. Maybe I'm looking at the situation from an "old school" POV, but wouldn't it be much better if entertainers stuck to ENTERTAINING rather than trying to ram their political beliefs down the public's throat? And that goes for both sides of the proverbial aisle.

Are you serious? What qualifies an entertainer to feel as if their "position" entitles them (and their opinions) to be any more "important" than John or Jane Q. Public's? This is part of the problem with "celebrity." I'd be beyond embarrassed to admit that I voted for/supported ANY office-seeker or issue just because an "entertainer" has the insufferable ego to stump for it. And I sincerely feel sorry for those that do.
