What a powerful message. I had vision while sitting in church years ago. It shook me to my core and left me broken for the state of His people. At the time, we were attending different churches every week. My husband being a Southern Baptist who was uncomfortable with a church where the gifts of the spirit as I understand them, were welcomed. So, this vision was in a Southern Baptist church. This all took place during a time when my entire life revolved around His kingdom. Church, Bible study, Sharing my testimony which included a miraculous deliverance. During that time, it didn't matter what church I was in, the messages were all IMO, straight from God so much so, that I literally felt as though I was starving. That was the interesting part of the vision which was, The Pastor from the pulpit with a long handled spoon. It appeared that he was feeding the congregation. The next scene was of the congregation. Many of them were sitting with their arms folded across their chest. Most had their lips tightly closed and only a few were slowly chewing. The vision ended. As I was asking the Lord what this all meant, He simply said, the people are not hungry. It was after that that I learned how spiritual hunger works. I've sensed lately with all that has and is taking place in the World that Hod is answering my question. Lord, what will it take to make them hungry? Only He knew the answer to that of course. When you said, no matter how good a preacher is, if the people are not hungry.... The vision I had and the powerful messages he was preaching were proof of that. Thank you Pastor Gurley, for continuing to do these devotions. They have been a great help to me during this season of my life.

I miss the Sunday morning services where you heart was wrenched and you weeped at the altar. We seem more interested in Elevation’s songs and a feel good service. Sorry I am on my soap box
Many of our preachers have resorted to cute stories of life’s lessons and not just preaching His Word where you are leaning forward acting like a sponge. I was writing this about 10 minutes into your devotion. We also need ministers who live what is written and preached, saints are hungry for His Word and application.
