    Dear Stef,
    Let me express first my satisfaction for being once more a viewer of one of your videos!
    Well, you said that the Fountain Pen in the video was a superb black classic one, but I would say that your video was a classic one as well.
    Besides, if there would not be other things to consider, I would say that, definitely, the beauty of a restored pen like this would be a reason good enough for making a new video, even if that kind of pen was previously shown. It is like meeting once more an old friend, it is like viewing once more a GrandMia Pens video after a long time of absence.
    I admired all the elements of the Fountain Pen in the video and literally absorbed all the explanations. I felt like coming back down to Earth from another planet of the Universe and finding again the familiar things I used to see and hear!
    Certainly, the pen was beautifully restored, it looks beautiful and it is a good writer, laying a very interesting kind of line with its beautiful large and versatile nib. You could notice that I used repeatedly the word "beautiful". In my opinion that would be the key word for the pen and for the video as well.
    Thank you for your work and for sharing it in this video!
    Best Regards
    Anton-Mihai

      That is good to know. You had a gorgeous green Waterman Ideal pen a few months ago that I was drooling over since I tend to be into Watermans.

      Hi Troy...If it was a few months ago then a suspect it has been sold as i do not recall having a green Watermans. Any other pen i can interest you in ? Stef.

    I have a pen which looks exactly like this. It is green. The difference is it is not AF but has a squeeze ribbed filler. I would really like it to be restored. It is a bit tatty and the nib is broken. The nib says Parker 14K 585.
    It was my fathers and has great sentimental value. Can you advise me if it can be restored please

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  5 лет назад

      Im sure it can be improved and serviced, however you will need to find a replacement nib for it. Good luck with the pen.

    How to open nib sanction from barrel ?

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  5 месяцев назад

      Being carefull you will need to use some dried heat. Or better send it to your local pen restorer to have it done professionally. Good luck.

    With these and traditional lever fillers, how can you tell if the sac is filled even to a medium or more level?

    • @penkino1
      @penkino1  7 лет назад

      By simply following the correct filling instructions. When filled correctly they are as good as any new pen. Thanks

    • @milcomilco2893
      @milcomilco2893 7 лет назад +1

      Dear Roberto,
      I am not an expert in Fountain Pens like Stef is, but I would like to share some things I noticed during the usage of different Fountain Pens I own :
      1.It is possible to establish a correspondence between the number of times we need to handle the lever , or to push the button , or to squeeze the pressure bar and the maximum capacity of the sac, by filling the pen with water and appreciating the maximum capacity of the sac by the water expelled then.
      2.If we take as an example the Parker 51, then we would notice that the Manufacturer recommends four firm pushes on the pressure bar. But, in my case, the bubbles in the ink pot disappear with the fifth push. That's to say, Parker doesn't recommend to fill the sac at the maximum capacity.
      3. There is no general rule. Every particular pen has its own behavior, so, the writer would know her/his pen in time, by using it.
      4. A certain volume of air inside the sac is necessary for a fluent ink flow, without drops or blockage.
      5. I noticed, by observations made on a transparent piston filler converter, that, after filling, the written line is wet during , let's say, the first 1/5 of the reservoir and then noticeably dryer, up to the last 1/4 of the reservoir, when the line becomes again wet, even wetter than in the beginning. The same variation I noticed at all my "sac filling" pens.
      My point here would be that we could be informed where we are with the ink level by the wet degree of the line. So, when the line becomes very wet, we would know that the ink we are using is coming from the last 1/4 part of the sac. Of course, those proportions I was referring to, were just for orientation and they match my Fountain Pens.
      I hope that Stef would correct me, or he would add some new elements to this discussion.
      I hope that my intervention was useful.
      Thank you for reading it!
      Best Regards
      Anton-Mihai

      Milco Milco The reason your pen writes wet, then dryer, then wet is because a piston filled pen is essentially an eyedropper that has no sac. This is typical performance for pens that fill the barrel with ink. For pens with sacs this is not the case. You simply fill them until there are no more bubbles and then you're done. The pressure bars in lever and button fillers don't extend the whole length of the sac so there will always be a little bit of air in them to facilitate ink flow.
