Broke My Crayon thats what the correspondents dinner is, traditionally. even in a system like ours, there is a need for a jester; the only court position capable of addressing the king without recourse, and where the social position of 'comedian' comes from.
the roast, or in this case correspondents dinner, fills our social need/desire for unfiltered, honest communication. of course this dinner is a roast. it has to happen somewhere.

Really loved the fact that he recognized the journalists the US and others around the world have lost or have been captured.
Contrast that with Trump who referred to the legitimate press as enemies of the people, and laughed when he heard of a reporter being harmed.

1. The best President ever,
2. The worst President ever.
3. The most radical President ever.
4. A Kenyan.

Mr. Obama is a moderate Democrat who, overall, hasn't been all that effective. Where's the public option? (I live in Massachusetts, where Governor Romney provided one in his Mandated Health Care plan). Where's the investigation into the crimes of the Bush administration? Where's the research into new nuclear power technologies such as Pebble Bed reactors and Thorium fuel? Why aren't Wall Street criminals in jail?
All in all, just the fact that his election kept an idiot like Palin or an oligarch like Romney away from power is enough to celebrate. But he could've done more....
Robb Scott Credit should be given to the republicans who pander to the stupid religious right group to make it so easy for the citizens to choose. The koch brothers are one of the biggest contributors and lobbyist groups. They kind of are above the law and use the political system to benefit itself. Acknowledging the rigged political system perhaps will alert many who have no idea, and vote for candidates who are in the pockets of corporate america. Doubtful to happen anytime soon. American politics is run by capitalists, not people.

With the current candidates running for office, part of me wishes Obama stays in office another term, so I dont have to think about the upcoming shit show. Every president can be critizied, but I truly believe Obama did everything in his power to try to bring about the changes he promised. Michele Obama has been so productive and influential, I cant see the next first lady coming close to her impact and presence.
I completely agree with you on that. The both of them seem like they certainly tried their best to better this country. No matter what any political side might say about President Obama, I believe he is truly humane and concerned by the well-being of the US and it's citizens.
