Without a doubt, the worst nerf Bowser Jr. got in Ultimate was that the clown car no longer sheds a tear when getting hit like it did in smash 4

I feel the “new character syndrome” was most rampant during ultimate with not only newcomers like King K. Rool, but also veterans like Pichu.

He was, but the lack of counter knowledge was a big contributor to how he was perceived at the time. However, it’s nowhere near as big as what happened in 3.1.0, I’ll give you that.

As a veteran Jr main since Smash 4, I obviously wish he'd be better, but idk, not only is he still really fun to play (pulling off successful mecha koopa combos is still one of the most satisfying things ever) but actually winning as this character feels extra rewarding for some reason.
as someone who prefers casual play/friendlies and isn't looking into comp, the thing that gets me about junior is how he has no float, or ANY unique aerial traits while in the car, despite the whole thing about the clown car being that it hovers around in the air...
Adding a float might be crazy to some people, but low key that would be really cool to do Peach Style Float Cancelled Aerials with Jr.
I think maybe giving him an extra midair jump would compensate for that. Most winged characters got a 3rd/4th jump after they removed gliding, so that would be in-line with that, and maybe the animation could emphasize the kart flying more and it wouldn’t step on Peach/Daisy’s toes.
My boy Lemmy is not only a badass rockstar(named after one), but he's a well of untapped potential. Could easily be a mid-tier fighter if enough people put in the work and showed others what he's got to offer.

Idk much but an eye opener was the fact Bowser Jr has footstool stuff, how consistent and universal they are on the entire cast remains to be seen but I am aware 3 special moves can all be incorporated into that punish game with plenty of easy setups to boot outside of OOS
Personally instead of Bowser Jr.'s hurtboxes being standardised, I would have wanted it flipped on its head: Bowser Jr.'s body is normal damage while the clown car actually has reduced damage seeing how Bowser Jr. is a normal character while the clown car is a piece of machinery and probably should be either more resilient to taking hits anyways.

The weird thing about this is that it really, really would not push Jr. into being overpowered either.
It’s just unique and it would be helpful. Also, it would be kind of funny for sheik to do even less damage.

As a Bowser Jr/Lemmy main, this is a great video. Honestly, I only picked up the character because my friends would clown on me for only playing top tiers, so I decided to pick up K Rool, Incinaroar, Piranha Plant, and yes... even our favorite clown riding boi. The character does indeed suck in a lot of ways, although that's exactly why I love playing him and many low tiers in general. I find them more rewarding to play and get good at then just any old top tier like joker and G&W, my previous main. I'm of the camp that anyone can do well competitively with any character, in any game. And people like Yoda Cage and the other high level Jr. players really make the character look sick. I started out just playing whoever was broken or top tier for the first 2 years of the games life, until I picked up a bunch of low tier's as a joke, which made me see the value in not just the characters I played but the game itself.
Moral of the story is: Video good, Jr is sick, More high level players should pick up mid to lower tier characters like AMSA. Oh and most importantly... LEMMY GANG RISE UP!
When I played with Bowser Jr before, I made joker look like an actual joke, and destroyed seperoth multiple times in a row (I promise this isn't me trying to brag, it's me saying that Bowser Jr is very good if played right)
Sad to see Jr. not living up to his papa's expectations, but Jr gave it his all and that's all that matters to Bowser :]
Well Bowser didn’t really live up to expectations either at first. Maybe in the future Jr will get better, like father like son.

If you had an aerial faster than frame 7 in smash 4 you could actually pick up mecha koopa if it hit you because the "linking" hit didn't have enough hitstun to combo into the explosion lol
I feel like the main reasons people claim bowser jr is the worst character in the game is the fact that there a hardly anyone representing the fighter, it’s likely due to his limited fanbase and the lack of players willing to try him, me being a huge fan of bowser jr I’m currently striving to be one of the best players of the character and hopefully bring a new light to the character. Another big reason comes from how many people seem to dislike him, many pointing out how annoying Bowser jr is, this may lead to biased information. It’s clear that bowser jr has received some notable buffs and has had very few nerfs, the problem is that not a lot of people acknowledge that because that can’t look past the fact that Jr is there least favorite Nintendo character. Another reason is that he is probably the most slept on character from top players. Most of if not all professional players seem to only focus on the popular characters of ultimate, and this leads to mislead information on this fighter as they have no true experience on the character, but because they are “pro” players everyone believes them, and therefore people start spreading claims that this character is trash because Leffen or ZeRo said so. Bowser jr is the definition of underrated and overlooked, without a powerful community to back him up, he will continue to be slept on and be falsely claimed to be the worst of the game, and I’m taking that anyday or anytime.

I love playing this character because he’s got an item and the cart. Big win.
One thing I will say - Bowser Jr. is a fantastic character in casual play. No one ever knows what to do against him. I’ve played as him since the Wii U days, and mechakoopas in particular give people a pretty hard time. It kinda just wanders around the stage, and people forget about it. Plus there’s a bunch of tricks you can do with it, too. And Clown Cannon is an OK edge guarding tool in Ultimate, since you can fire 2 with different trajectories, which typically confuses casuals as they try to recover.
Bowser Jr. is a character I always have fun with in Smash. I sometimes wonder how he would play if he was on foot instead of being on the Clown Car.
He'd be top tier if he got out of his cart and used his paintbrush
I have a lot of ideas on how to make Jr a better character, but what I think would be interesting and probably cooler is to scrap this iteration of Jr.
And instead, rework him to have his main tool revolve around just him using his paintbrush and other gadgets, while the Clown Car is used for say a recovery or Final Smash. Another thing is actually give him alts and remove the koopalings so he stands as his own character more (I don’t hate the koopalings, but they feel a bit shoehorned in to me, I think they’d make an interesting assist trophy though).
Funny enough most bowser jr mains have moved on or focused on their studies or jobs.

The way it pathetically drops to the ground when shielded just hurts to see.
I also don't understand why they made his recovery just not refresh sometimes, like no other character has this problem why do this to jr specifically?

As a bowser jr main in both games, a MAJOR thing that holds junior back in Ultimate is that top players are extremely edge-guardphobic. Spinout off stage is legitimately insane as it is huge, has armor, and kills at around 40 on mario. People need to utilize his offstage potential way more, but yeah his kart being his only approach is frustrating.
I started playing with bowser jr in smash 4 and I loved him. Bowser Jr has some great combos and great attacks and lots of things you can do to trick people and I love him! You just gotta know how to use use right to beat many people haha
I’m trying to remember: Weren’t there people who thought that Isabelle was a great character and started maining her? If so, I suggest you make one of your next videos about how she isn’t good as people used to think.
Along with that, you can also compare Isabelle with Villager and explain how Villager is ranked higher than her on the tier list.
I’m personally in the camp that thinks Bowser Jr. is underrated. A character with one of, if not, the best forward smash and jab in the game couldn’t be that bad unless he had a downside as bad as Little Mac.

It would be cool if they make a new smash game they should do take as much damage and his clown car breaks then he is on foot now and has his pain brush as a weapon
I use cannonball in elite pretty effectively. I dont think it is the worst projectile in the game. It bounces, it falls, you can mix it up with mecha koopa and can have 2 balls in the screen at once. I hate it when people trash talk characters without trying enough to master the character. I prefer to trust the game designer team and ditch tier lists. They get in your head.

Hope Bowser JR. to be added in Project +, legacy or whatever is called for some improvements on his movesets.
I heard he's a technical nightmare to program in because of the clown car, but it would be nice if they cracked the code on him.

I main bowser jr since day one in smash 4. I feel he got worse in smash ultimate, not better, maybe due to every other character being buffed way more than him. His mecha koopa got worse than before and his up smash became a joke, not longer lifting opponents by the side. Meanwhile, this ability was given to captaion falcon's and wolf's up smash for some reason.
Fun fact: In the 3DS version of Smash 4, Junior and Wario are both unlockable characters, while in the Wii U version, Junior is a default character while Wario is unlockable. Make of that what you will.

Bowser Jr. has been a low tier in 2 smash games. Meanwhile, Ganondorf has been the worst in 1 game and the 2nd worst in 2 games. Like the best Ganon ever got was a mid tier to low tier in Melee.

Bowser Jr. deserves buffs, and I'm sick and tired of the devs neglecting him. After all, everybody deserves a chance to be cooler than their Smash 4 counterpart, and if they underperformed in Smash 4 and/or Ultimate, they deserve to be better too! Here are the changes I would give him if I wasn't allowed to give him new moves.
+Mechakoopa has less endlag, now more in line with R.O.B.'s Gyro, and it now explodes if it touches a shield. The most important change, because its unusually high endlag and inability to threaten shields ruins the ENTIRE CHARACTER. More frames of activity= more options= more fun!
+If you take any amount of knockback outside of the Clown Car that isn't a windbox, you always get the Clown Car back. This prevents foes from cheesing him at 0%, but since he still needs the Clown Car to do a directional air-dodge, he's still more vulnerable when he exits it.
+Grab is 3 frames faster (frame 11-> frame 8). This simple change makes Bowser Junior's grab WAY better, but still retains the fact that its slower than the average rushdown character's grab. After all, zoners should have a more committal grab than rushdown characters.
+Cannonball is 10 frames faster, you can angle the move diagonally up or down, and you can cancel the charge by holding shield. You can't store the charge like with Charge Shot, but since this move can be angled and is affected by gravity when it reaches a certain distance, it still stands out from Charge Shot.
+Down Air now spikes and has 3 fewer frames of landing lag. This adds new combo routes and gives him extra sauce.
BTW, If you have to nerf his stupid ass Jab to give him any of these buffs, then please do so, I would not mind at all.

the highest Bowser Jr. has been rated is 34th. i know he was probably overrated but i don't think anyone though he was top tier
very early 3ds era, there was actually a few people I remember saying hes really good, but that quickly changed once people figured out the flaws
please don't take this the wrong way, but your lack of game knowledge severely holds back the potential of your videos, the format is very interesting but you really seem to not know anything about the characters you talk about.
