Bought it Love it. Use it at home without any simulator in audible mode to just practice the proper wrist flexion at top and at impact. Then on the range use it to record 20-25 shots at a time. Very nice.
So how does it compare with DeWiz? Both around the same price. Would you favour one over the other? Do golfers need to buy both? I’m fairly straight off the tee. If anything I lean to a baby draw but can work it either way at ease. What would I gain from Hackmotion. I’m genuinely curious and sincerely want to improve my golf.
In looking at both and for my swing Im thinking I would get more use out of the Hack Motion device. The Dewiz can't do flexion/extension or radial/ulnar capture so, it just depends on what you need work on IMHO.
Tip to do those who live in a country with as high import fees as me. Buy Core and pay VAT and fees. And if you want to upgrade to that with no VAT online since that is for the app only... They should sell the device separately. Would be cheaper for most people since buying app would be without VAT.
@@matthewstevenson3002 no. you pay and get access to the app at once. while the sensor is sent through mail. and then you can upgrade the subscription level later if you want.
An extensive& detailed review. Thanks, Mark. I'm desperate to get my launch angle down (I've got no compression after 10 years away), so I've bought one today.
Assuming that wrist position relates to clubface position it would be great if it could show you where the clubface is during the whole swing. Do think there's any chance in the future that it will measure approaching, as well as at impact?
Wow… that’s interesting. I wonder how the device deals with those with different physical limitations. That being said, even the fact that it can help with putting is fascinating. Great review Mark! The joy on your face says it all. LOL.
Both this video and your recent one on deWiz are great showing seriously impressive technology. Seems a real step in golf app tech. But they are expensive; and I want both but can't defend the costs. If you were to advise buying one---or both one after the other... which would you choose first and which second? It seems deWiz might help a bit more with partial shots but I really don't know. What say you? Many thanks for your enthusiasm and your teaching.
IMO, despite the higher cost the deWiz has 10 times the sophistication and useful functionality to improve your swing. Just go over to the deWiz RUclips channel Playlist and look at the dozens of metrics that yield numerous benefits. That said, for a few important swing attributes at the top of swing and impact, the Hackmotion certainly has value for the advanced/low handicap golfer needing to work on lead/lag issues.
Very useful review and tool. What I missed in the review was the rather useful "tagging" of the shots: the club used, shot shape and length of the shot. Pity though that HM doesn't seem to be able to export the measured data (at least I haven't found the option yet)
Looks like a great device, however I think it has the same problem alot of them have, you really need to have a home sim to get the most out of it, unless your willing to go the range 2/3 times a week minimum. I dont think its expensive either for what you get.
Great video, as always Mark...thank you. Am so tempted to get this to help my 12 year old son and myself. My son is currently learning in to out path and a slightly closed club face at impact to promote a draw....will this device help or hinder that? Will it register a closed club face at impact as a fault\incorrect?
Good device. But one that is better to just use during a lesson. $1000 for it...nope. But I'll be glad to use it as part of a lesson after the instructor buys it.
That doesnt make any sense... Paying for lessons each time you use it? Yeah that sounds cheap... Core software is probably what you are looking for... at 1/4 the price you mention. Less with discounts. But as with everything it would be nice to test it first. Too many gadgets are bought and never used more than once.
Bought it 2 months ago. I play off 7. However, Data destroyed me. I flip, early extend and couldn't get anywhere near the correct positions. Only positive is it triggered lessons and a swing rebuild over the winter. Found tutorials poor within app for fault resolution.
I noticed the small hole in your glove on the knuckle of the thumb. I make a hole in the same spot and cannot stop it from happening. I cannot hold the club any lighter and think it is caused in the change of direction from the backswing to the downswing. Any thoughts? Cheers
That is interesting. So no matter my grip I should fall into these ranges? I am guessing most of us hackers would fall into the ‘too much wrist extension’ category. So the range should be allowing for more bowed wrists rather than more extended? That might finally make me order the device. I want feedback while actually making the motion and Hack Motion does give me that.
I just got mine last week... This is the part I'm most confused about so far... My wrist is typically very flat at the top and hackmotion is telling me to cup it....doesn't seem right....? I need a teaching pro to guide me how to use it maybe? I understand how wrist position at impact matters but why does it matter if I'm DJ or Hogan at the top? More specifically, how and why are the acceptable ranges decided upon?
That’s why A, you can set your own markers B, if you get in the red and hit good shots then you would practice hitting red. It also delivers the actual data (so number value) 👍
Hmm - yes you get some data, but guess a golfer that can use this data also can from the shot tracking understand what is going on. I love training aids that can help golfers actively changing golf swings. But with this you get data - and nothing more. If it´s few degree more or less what does it matter - look at the world top golfers have different they swing golf clubs and their position at top. But I agree it can be a fun toy, but a basic trackman can give you more important numbers, where club face, path is - that matter much more
If you know anything about Mark Crossfield's teaching, changing your wrist angles and watching what it does to your ball flight and swing is a huge part of how he teaches. This gives him a way to quantify exactly what your wrists are doing throughout the swing so you can see if you're making progress.
Surely this all depends on your grip. Yesterday I played against a guy using a baseball bat grip with right hand at the back of, almost underneath the club. So it's possible to have all the data correctly "in range", but a seriously bad grip, too weak or too strong, would make that data utterly useless for that user.
@@MarkLesiw So, as I thought I wrote, if you have a seriously defective grip, this device will not help correct that because it measures relative change regardless of initial grip. Is that what you are communicating?
He's saying it's relative to start position so it's still useful. It's not designed to correct grip, I assume it's designed to help it all match up regardless of your grip
@@TheBoonerz The recommended margins of acceptability that the device reports are based on a neutral grip. If the user has a very strong or very weak grip, the wrists cannot change angles in the same way as in a neutral grip. This is simple biomechanics 101. Your suggestion that the device works with acceptability margins based in initial positions, regardless of grip is simply a contradiction of basic mechanics of the human bone structure.
@@aaronryan8505 same boat - from what i can see Hackmotion really focuses on wrist position/face control, whereas Dewiz is more overall swing plane (calculated from hand position), tempo etc. The Dewiz looks really useful for practicing tempo and backswing length. I reckon it would be amazing for wedge practice and dialing in your 100yds in shots and chipping. The Hackmotion looks great for practicing the right wrist position/face at impact. I could see myself using it alot for putting as well, eg just putting at night mucking around when you cant smash balls and make lots of noise.
