  • Part 3 of a series - Showing how pigs can help clear your land. I've cleared most of my farm using pigs and goats over the past 12 years. Now I have pasture and market garden where it was once forest. Using all the resources on your land is key to a successful homestead.

How much do you need to feed them veggies when they are clearing a forest area like that?

Normal feeding is required. Everything in the forest is just extra. But, If you have an entire hillside full of oak tress that are dropping acorn's. That would be a different story. Thanks for your question.

Pigs are just like little bull dozers.

    Does your free range smell?

Hi Ricky, Thanks for your question. Around my training pen if the weather is warm it can have a smell after being wet for several days. But, in the forested areas it never has any smell. I'm sure if you left the pigs in an area long enough it would start to have a smell to it. That would be a good sign that it's time to move the pigs to another area. Cheers.
