    I just bought my first 2 tolumnias from Hausermann. Jairak Firm 'brown derby ' and Jairak rainbow 'strawberry'. It was good to see that you use spagmoss as I'm not a fan of bark with fine rooted orchids. I grow a mini cattleya in a 3 inch slotted orchid pot, hopefully the same pot size will work. I give my phals and oncidiums bright indirect light and cattleyas are a little closer to the grow light

      👋 Hi Kathryn! Yes, moss is definitely the choice for my Tolumnias. I repotted one recently and it was so easy to remove the moss. It would have been a nightmare to remove the bark from its fine, delicate roots. I have a playlist on my channel with more topics on Tolumnia care. Happy 😇 growing! Amy

    This came at the perfect time as I just received two more tolumnia. I have one on a mount that is doing “okay” but these two will be potted and I was debating on the media. I too love using sphagnum so think 🤔 I will give that a try. Have a blessed ☀️Day. 🌸

    I have 4 tolumnias on their way. Can’t wait to get them potted up. I was just wondering what insecticidal soap you recommend.

      I use Garden Safe Insecticidal soap, you can find it at garden centers. Enjoy your Tolumnias! 😇🌷

    I just got one. Did you do a video of your first time potting?

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  Год назад

      Not yet. Just soak the roots so they're pliable and take your time. You don't want to damage the roots...they're the sensitive part of the plant.

      @@OrchidWhisperer thank you. I'm trying to decide about the right pots and media. I don't have luck with moss. I think my humidity is too high. I may try your sandwich. Thanks

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  Год назад

      @@SS11660 I grow mine in the house under grow lights. The humidity is lower in my house than in my sunroom. 70 to 75 degrees year round with about 30 to 40% humidity. If you grow them in bark the roots will stick to it and you'll have a time repotting them in 2 or 3 years when the fans fill the pot. But that's better than losing them in moss. Keep me posted, I wish you lots of success! 😇

    • @SS11660
      @SS11660 Год назад

      @OrchidWhisperer my humidity is usually 50. 70% . I have them under grow lights with fan and ventilated pots..I have lost couple phals in moss.. seems hard not to overwater.
      The grower had them in the tiny net pots and he grows them mounted.
      Do you ever mount any orchids or your humidity too low!?

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  Год назад

      @@SS11660 my humidity is too low to grow orchids on mounts. Do you grow Cattleyas? They're very similar, but they dont need as much light. Light is the same as Phals. If you do well with mounts, you can give it a try.

    Hi Amy, I heard you say you are using MSU fertilizer now , is that just with tolumina or all orchids? I have been thinking of trying the MSU fertilizer Re Potme has. But they are out of stock on it.

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  Год назад

      Hi Yoli, yes I'm using MSU with all my orchids now. I really do like it. They sell it on Amazon...you might want to try finding it there. I use the water soluble. Happy growing! Amy
