I first listened to Mark in 1979 with Sultans of swing, I bought that album. I brought it back to Timmins, Ontario and me and my brother have been dedicated to him ever since. We have seen him live 5 times. Thank you Mark, we will listen to you till we die.

This is his best tour. Get Lucky was a great album. He starts and finished with 1st and last songs on the record. Cool bookends. with great stuff in between. Saw him in Chicago and Milwaukee. The best I've seen ---with Making Movies Tour(1980) and Brothers in Arms Tour(1985-6)
According to the comments I read on this channel, I would say that you are the luckiest among us. So many times you had the opportunity to be at both Dire Straits and Mark's concerts. I congratulate you on that. That's a lot of luck!!!🌟🎸🌟🎧🙋♀️
@@spomenkazlokolica3061 Thanks for the nice comments. I did get to see a bunch of great shows. Sometimes, there was more than luck involved. One had to go to great pains--and deal with scalpers. On the Brothers in Arms Tour in the summer of 1985, I had to wait in line overnight to get 4th row, center section seats. Also, I had to deal with poor folks that were hired by ticket scalpers(it was illegal at this time in Texas). The scalpers wouldn't give the money to those people until they got to the point of buying the tickets(limit of 4). Those sorry SOBs paid those poor homeless people very little money so that the scalpers could go re-sell the tickets(face value $5!!!) for $50. I got so mad at those scalpers for getting the best seats. At least I still got two great seats. Times were different then. I was 27. Now I am 64. Time flies.
@@gearsau I saw those two DS tours. They were the best ones. I have seen a video on RUclips of that Brisbane show that you saw. It is great! There are a couple of shows from Australia and New Zealand on RUclips.

Love Marc Knopfler and the Geordie accent ! Sailing to Philadelphia to escape the cold old Tyne ! I really love his ‘ The Lights of Taormina’ cos just before I met him my husband taught EFL in Sicily for a year and knows Taormina well and I later visited it with him to visit Casa Cuseni owned by Daphne Phelps ! Daphne is now dead and the house is run as a VERY upmarket small hotel.

Amazing, still going and still is considered a gem within the music circus along withthe Tommy emanuels Eric Claptons plus a whole lot more. I just wonder what happens to the music world when we loose these wonders of music.. I really think you habve to have been involved in this to understand that despite all the hype, it still all comes from the heart, thats why they keep playing. If anyone where to ask me what the best high is in the world i would have to say its playing to a live stadium full of people, because it half way through you realize that its you they are cheering at and what you do. Big props to the pianist/arranger. Jim Cox? He’s adding chord progressions that are not in any other version of most of these songs. Brings already great MK songs up a few notches. Listen carefully, for example, to the outro of R&J, Marbletown, Speedway…
What a superb choice of songs and dynamite show this is. Shangri-La, Fare thee well Northumberland, Haul away and In the sky are my only other favorites absent. Knopfler and his band are as good as it gets in level of musicianship. Between his guitar work, vocals and compositions he has few rivals. Perhaps the Stones or Springsteen, but not many. If you've never seen him live, I urge you to do so. He (and his band) are spectacular...

You are very perceptive. Those outros make the studio versions of the songs pale in comparison to the live ones.
