In addition to saving my sanity, the time you took to shoot and edit this - and the quality of the audio!! and shooting really makes this a perfect tool for me to assemble what might have been a huge headache. THANK YOU!
AMAZING!! Your video is clear and concise - exactly what I needed! Like many other commenters, I looked at the instruction sheet and had no idea whatsoever how to assemble this shelving unit. Your video was super easy to follow. Thank you!!!
My Dad and I took one glance at those instructions and I immediately NOPED and started looking on RUclips. Your vid was the 2nd one I clicked on and I’m subbing because my Man-you are a LIFESAVER
Thank you SO much for this awesome video! The paper instructions it came with were awefull was able to put this together by myself very quickly with your help. Much appreciated!
Outstanding! Your video was extremely well organized and logical. Many others have found the assembly of this type of shelving very difficult after watching your lucid demonstration, it should be quite straightforward. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this tutorial. It is a major time saver. There were no complete instructions that came with the product and the photos were useless.
Thank you so much for this …you spent your time to save others time and I am grateful for your well made video and high quality concise directions …peace and blessings to you
GREAT JOB WITH INSTRUCTIONS...I FOLLOWED IT TO THE TEE & WAS SUCCESSFUL ! APPRECIATE YOU SHARING THE ITEMS WHICH GO TOGETHER IN THE RIGHT SEQUENCE...EASY TO INSTALL ..THX AGAIN !
Great, great job!!!! I start watching other video from where I literally waste my time by learning absolutely anything. I’m glad that I found your video and I really enjoyed from a-z while I learned a lot, also I was able to put it together with confidence. I have no doubts that you are a great teacher on anything that you know besides being a perfectionist also. The way what you explained it make me to stop the video to subscribe & fully deserved “like”. Many thanks and many Blessings to you!!!
So, you actually figured that out from the directions that came with it? Because, I have two college degrees, and I could not make sense of those directions:)
I like to be prepared before I do installs and really appreciate this video. Picked up two of these I’ll be setting up tomorrow and now won’t even need to read the manual. Thanks!
i felt assemlby hard with rubber mallet. You are doing it seamlessly. i returned it to costco. Thinking to give try again after seeing this video. Thanks a ton.
Thanks for your great tutorial! I have a really old version of this shelving (like, 15 years old ~ the shelves aren't the dark color and the connectors/post caps weren't included). It had been disassembled after I moved houses and I was tasked with putting it together by myself for the fist time today ~ and I couldn't figure out how to connect the corner pieces vertically. Your video was very helpful!!
Does anyone know where I can get new hardware for these shelves? Tried contacting the manufacturer and no luck. I need the L shape pieces but they were lost in the move.
The instructions were no help to me. Your video was the first one I came across. It was exactly what I needed. Clear and concise the whole way. Thank you 💯
You saved me SaveMoneyDIY. The directions that came with this shelving unit were useless. Your video was perfect and from the bottom of my heart a great big Thank You !!!!
Thank you! I’m an intern at a non-profit and this shelf got donated and there are NO directions at all I just got a bunch of pieces and asked if I could figure it out😅Idk what would have done without the video!
I just bought this from Costco and am thinking of using the half height version as a workbench by putting a 24x48 (or 30x60 for some overhang) butcher block on top and using as a workbench. 2 questions: is the structure strong enough for this application, and how would one best secure the top to the unit? ideas anyone?
If I understand your question right, you can put the horizontal beams at any position to make the size/height of shelves that you want. The exception is for the ones that straddle the upper and lower portion of the unit - those have to have one peg on the lower portion and one on the higher. Let me know if you meant something different?
Hey Man! You rock with this video! Congratulations! Have a dumb question, how heavy is this Shelve? I noted Costco is selling another shelve, trinity model, chrome finish but thinier about the post in comparison with this one, hope you can answer, thank you sir!
lol we tried putting this together and could NOT do it, we then tried a day later with my 21 yr old daughter after many times of the bars coming detached we had to leave the shelf alone and stumbled on your video. How many times did it take you as you first assembled this?? We are about ready to assemble it after watching your video. lol hopefully we are able to accomplish it. By the way did you really put it together by YOURSELF??
Was you shelf wobbly before adding weigh to the shelves? We just assembled two and both are super wobbly - wonder what went wrong or why they don’t sit flush on the ground
No, should not be wobbly. Make sure beams are at the same height so shelves don’t go in crooked @4:20. Hit all beams down with mallet and towel so they are firmly in @9:05. If you are making the one tall shelving unit make sure post inserts are firmly in @6:10 and straddle the posts with beams @6:50. If you’ve done all that it should be good.
Hi, where can we order some E and F plastic replacements for the shelves, mine broke and or got lost. I have been looking everywhere but I see no photos. Any information will be appreciated.
The link below has a price. We have seen it in store at a regular Costco for about the same cost. www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/whalen-5-shelf-heavy-duty-steel-shelving-unit%2C-48w-x-24d-x-72h%2C-black.product.100193696.html
I know this was 2 years ago but the pieces you put on top to stack the second part of the shelf don’t fit like yours do. Mine don’t hold the other beams up and hitting them with the mallet doesn’t make it more secure :/
Yeah definitely sturdy. I didn’t see a weight rating on Costco’s website but I’ve put maybe 200 pounds on a shelf and it’s fine could probably hold quite a bit more. Remember to keep heaviest stuff down low for general safety, especially if you have kids who may climb shelves or grab at things. 👍
I don't know if my boards are too wide or my beams just bent. The boards just can't be put within the beams. Can anyone measure the width of your boards? Mines are about 120.5cm. They would fit if it's 0.5cm narrower.
JUST ONE MORE THING, IF YOU HAVE THE UNIT IN A PLACE (GARAGE, SHED) WITH EXPOSED STUDS, YOU CAN USE BRASS ROOFING SCREWS & ANCHOR THE UNIT TO THE STUDS. I WENT UNDER EACH SHELVE & USED 2 SCREWS WHICH ARE HIDDEN UNDER & NOT SEEN ONCE YOU SCREW THEM IN...THUS SHELVING UNIT IS SECURED & WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE. OF COURSE THE DOWNSIDE MAYBE, IF YOU WISH TO MOVE UNIT IN FUTURE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE THE SCREWS...EASY FIX !! 👍👍

Very nice video. However, I am seeing a lot of shelves made by Gorilla. Are they decent?
Is that particle board ? It doesn't look like it can withstand 200 lbs.
Melamine. I forget the exact specs, but 200 lbs sounds right. It’s sturdy.
Thanks very much for your instructions ❤️

What is the distance between the shelves?
About 18 inches apart when evenly spaced. You can put them at whatever spacing you want, at about every 1.5 inches.
Great vid .

Wood with a melamine finish
@@savemoneydiy1462 Thanks so much for quickly answering my question. I was hoping for metal. Pressboard is even worse.
