Thanks for the podcast, Tyler! Always succinct and slick, I agree with just about all of what you said.
The only exception I can think of is the ceiling for Leonard's yards through the air, where I think it is probably some number under 2500, possibly under 2000.
Three to four of the best opponents we will face this season are still to come, and on average, almost all the opponents we will face later this year are better than three of the first four we faced to date (*one of which we lost to). As of the first four games, he throws for about 150 yards a game to date. That's a sub 2k season even with a few extras where he is successful, but in general I don't think he will pass for _more_ against better defenses, rather the opposite.
TBH, likely all of this will be moot because we're going to lose one or more of those games, where he finally proves that he can't do it on demand, or the receivers continue to drop passes that literally hit them in the fing hands. Of course, we all live for the hope that this isn't true, or the coaches will consider peppering other QB's into the mix where it is needed, maybe putting Leonard AND Angelli in on the same play.
    Loved the Dublin idea!
As a neighbor in AZ, love the SoFi idea too!

Tyler , I was so angry with you about your take on Notre Dame before the NIU game. But you was 100% right. And after that take , I will always be a fan of your podcast.

Thanks for answering my question Tyler! I have a die hard friend who listens to your show and was stressing they should cross train young to keep him on the field. You nailed the point home! They need him where he is at.

He's about as I expected since the hire. Better big game coach than CBK but hasn't figured out some of the things that take a lot of time as a head coach. Keeping the teams focus on sleeper games and balancing the teams energy / explosiveness and their stamina will be things he figures out. He can coach ball and develop talent and identify talented assistants like no other. Will he evolve into running a non Tressell-ball offense? I think that last question/answer will be the most important of his career.
I'll take a coach that can coach ball and develop / identify talent who's still learning game management over a seasoned know it all who's scared to open it up even if he's adept in changing accents on a whim.

If Leonard can’t start passing accurately, the better teams on the schedule will simply load the box and stop the run game. It seems silly to think that ND can be unidimensional and be successful. You are correct Tyler, don’t blame the players, blame the coaches for the decisions that they make on who leads the team.

Put Lenard in the pistol so the RB’s can run down hill plus it can set up the play action and still give Lenard room to run. The real problem is the OC does not know how to adopt to do what Lenard can do best while not sacrificing the passing game.

The question that needs to be asked is, what is Steve Angeli not doing where after being in the program for 4 years, he’s not ready to start??

Why do coaches stick with one quarterback? Texas stuck with Ewers. He gets hurt, and Manning comes in and plays great! Why not rotate backups in to give some playing time?

Leonard admitted when certain pass plays were called he knew he was going to just end up running the ball. Denbrock didn't know he was actually just calling a run play in those instances. Keeping this type of communication going during the games will be vital.

There’s something that I think a lot of Notre Dame fans misunderstand about Freeman and Riley Leonard. He isn’t starting because we shelled 2 million on him. We shelled 2 million on him because Freeman thinks he’s really good, whether he is or not.

The heart of the issue is we just dropped a million bucks on a 22-year-old, one-year QB rental to teach him how to throw a football! If you’re going to bring in a ringer over a homegrown Notre Dame kid who bled green to be here, at least make sure the guy’s Bo Nix 2.0.

Yeah.. Because Bo Nix 2.0s grow on cfb trees out there and multiple such QB transfers are available annually via the portal and/or as grad transfers. 👍🏼🙄😒

WTF does coaching 'toughness' mean? I would indeed question MF's coaching toughness, if that notion means anything at all. Or at least, you could assert that it's open to question. Lou Holtz, to pick a former ND coach, is someone most fans would agree 'Now that guy is a 'tough' coach'. But MF? Maybe not as much. So it's not such an obviously absurd observation to make. Toughness in terms of steely, unflinching resolve, and making hard decisions and the like. Is MF 'tough' in that sense? Or is he comparatively indecsive and wishy-washy? Does he wilt under stress? Does he go soft in certain situations, and lose his nerve a bit? MF is physically imposing, doesn't mean he's 'tough'. Or maybe he is, I don't know him personally. But that's the idea. And as such a neophyte HC, maybe he isn't so tough as yet.....
