I didn't know I had some kind of deformity in my spinal column till I my pain got so bad I was in such pain in my lower back. I couldn't stand long periods sometimes after minutes. Everytime I walk short distance I would have to stop rest my back leaning forward on a wall or something. I would lose feelings from my knees down with pins and needles. I would carry a drink carrier with to drinks tight to my body plus felt like internal cramping . I only find comfort in laying down or reclining. Sometimes too long in recliner would hurt. Anyway too shorten this I have one vertebrae normal next one small all the way down my back. The small vertebrae in my lower back are starting to tighten around my nerves. I have a few bulging discs some degenerative disc disease all pretty much normal but the stenosis and other normal where and tear are killing me. I can still stand but it feels I got to arch flex my lower back till I have to lean. It's sucks. I did not want to file cuz of the financial hit but I can't work lift or sit fool long periods it hurts to stand up . Feels like my vertebra are try to realign! Pain. Worst of all I loved lifting weights and my job. Now I'm screwed. The injections help with the pain but not effective enough to do any work task. Even effects my erections. I'm not happy now I have to file with no guarantee!!!!! Plus weighting for denial or approval. I'm 50 and worked hard labor my whole life. Now I'm scared. I always looked death in the eye but this scares me!!!!! Sorry so long u all.
PS. Doc I didn't realize this till u said it but I sit up on my side😢😢😢😢😢 sucks!!! Thnx

I've been complaining to my doctor about my back pain/leg numbness for 5+ years. She said that I probably just had sciatica and gave me celebrex and flexerial. 3 years ago, I had to leave my job because I couldn't stand for than a minute or walk more than 100ft or so without my back killing and my leg going numb, causing stability issues. My doctor said it was just sciatica and gave me stretches and to do, which I later found out were just contributing to my symptoms. Finally, last year I told her I was going to switch doctors if she couldn't help me... so she finally ordered a XRAY and put me in PT. XRAY showed "Suspected chronic L4 spondylolysis. 8 mm anterolisthesis L4-5. There is no lateral subluxation on the frontal projection. Multilevel disc space narrowing and marginal osteophyte formation. Facet arthropathy." At this point, PT wasn't helping because I couldn't tolerate it very well, so they recommended seeing pain management to see about getting an injection in my back. Pain management ordered an MRI to see if I would be a good candidate for the shot. The MRI showed "Mild facet arthritis of L1-L2, Disc bulge & Mild facet arthropathy of the L2-L3. Disc bulge, Mild to moderate compression of the thecal sac due to epidural fat, Mild facet arthritis of the L3-L4.L4-L5: Disc bulge, Mild to moderate facet arthritis, Conspicuous epidural fat, Moderate compression of the thecal sac due to epidural fat, Severe bilateral neural foraminal narrowing due to uncovering of the disc, disc bulge, and facet arthritis of the L4-L5. I know it's about the symptoms and not the diagnosis... which is also why I have submitted PT records for the last year showing exactly what I'm capable of, and what my limitations are. Of course, I also have records from the doctors and spine doctor talking about my condition and also my limitations... Somehow though, this isn't enough... so they are going to send me to their doctor for a 30 minute eval, and he or she or them or they will deem if I'm (along with 20 other patients they seen that day) are capable of working or not. Let's not focus on imaging, the PTs who have seen me over the last year, my spine doctor, or my primary care physicians who have all noted my limitations over and over again... and put it in the hands of somebody who has to get through 19 other patients that day... It just seems a bit ridiculous to me, thats all.

Well I expect to be denied since I suffer from extremely severe complex PTSD caused from doubt, disconcern, accusations of exaggerating, etc which makes verbalizing my issues pretty much impossible. Also having pain and other symptoms all my life It's been drilled in my head all my life to hide it that nobody wants to hear it so I seriously don't know how to show it. Then I also have severe cognitive issues like memory recall but I used to be very intelligent so I can usually come up with an answer so people don't notice or even believe my cognitive issues but due to my PTSD my answer is always downplayed. And due to my cognitive issues I don't even realize I'm doing it so I can't stop myself. I am extremely self-reliant can't stand sitting still but I absolutely cannot move 14-16 hours a day and very limited another four. The couple hours I'm able to make it to a doctor I can fake healthy And nobody would guess I am sick.

I thank you for these informative videos! The issue I have is I can barely hear what you are explaining. When you record these videos the microphone level needs to be higher. Especially for those that are hard of hearing. If your audience can't hear you speak then what's the point?

I was hurt on the job due to a car accident and had to retire early. (age 56) I physically could not do the job anymore. Would I be wasting my time applying for social security disability because I was forced to retire early?

Dr. I use a walker since I have arthritis on both knees now. It belonged to my late sister that I was trying to sale. Glad I didn’t because I have to use it while doing my walking exercises outside. This way I can sit down when tired. Should I still take it with me to my SSD appointment next month?

YES! A medically necessary walker is VERY important to Social Security, but they want the doctor to see you with and without it, and indicate that it is medically necessary. If you don't bring it, the doctor can't comment on it being medically necessary. Anyone who uses a cane, walker, or other assistive device SHOULD bring it to the exam!

I went for an exam and had nothing done except being asked to walk and some questions. I'm on reconsideration now and just found out the are going to send me for another exam. The pain continues to worsen. It started out lower back when I applied. I now have issues with my neck and recently my knee will just give out on me. I feel like I'm on that downhill side of the over the hill.
