Hello Friends! Lots of questions about this video! The priest that saw my soul his name was Fr Mary(he was a priest visiting from the Middle East), he read my soul over 20 years ago when I was in high school. I do not know where he is now but I do know for a fact there are other priests that have this gift. Out of all my years Fr Mary is the only priest the I’ve met that has this gift. But I know more are out there. I encourage you to ask God to lead you to one if you are hoping for one. Also yes it is biblical to confession your sins to a priest! And to be Catholic it is required to go to confession at least once a year. I know lots of other Saints had this gift besides Padre Pio. I hope this helped God bless😊

The motivation for going to confession is to confess sins, seek absolution, and to obtain an increase in sanctifying grace. I would not want to be in a confessional out of curiosity. Confession is a sacrament, and not a trip to a psychic. There are more priests who do not have the gift of reading souls. The point is that God knows all of our sins better than we do. If we make a good examination of conscience and confess to the best of our ability, then we are forgiven. The problem is that most Catholics do not take advantage of the opportunity to go to confession frequently and worthily.
I've done some pretty intense examination of conscience, but I would LOVE to have the opportunity to confess to this Priest. I confess like this to St. Padre Pio at night, by myself, but I don't know how much I missed or if I'm being perfectly honest with myself. I'm glad for you that you had this chance. (last time I went face to face, and I confessed some stuff I had a hard time admitting).
That happened to my wife. She confessed her sins, and as she was receiving absolution, she remembered another sin, and she thought about it and wanted to mention it but was too afraid, and the priest stopped the absolution and named the sin and asked God to forgive her also for that very specific sin (he named the exact sin!). He then finished the absolution.

Yeah 😊 because sometimes you don't know how to vocalise the sin that you commited but have in mind .....so it comes out differently.....if you know what I mean ....( See it even happens here 🤣) .....but I hate this new confession set up .....where you face to face sitting before the priest ...no confessional box .....you tend to tone down your sin ....( Which is a sin itself 🤣) ....priests are human Afterall....and I'm sure that they will look at you differently after a confession .....****😂 Scary stuff
@@chommie5350 all the confessionals i can think of in our area are screened and not face to face. Ive only had face to face confession in a retreat like setting when there are multiple priests hearing confessions.
I was privileged to have that happen to me once, and the sin that I had forgotten and even bragged about, and justified to myself for years was gently exposed in all its hideous evil and I thanked the priest for showing me and later I wept in contrition. Later I told 3 friends about my experience and they all gasped as it happened to them as well with that priest. I sill always be grateful to that late priest.
I literally *just* went to confession and experienced this (like 20 mins ago). This video being in my recommended feed feels Providential! It’s not like the priest named anything I had done, but he made comments eluding to a sinful past (I have one, and I didn’t tell him!) and every word of advice he gave struck me to my core. Felt like it everything he said was tailor-made for me. Praise God!
I wish I could find a priest like this. I have a lot of trauma from my childhood/teen years & my memories are fragmented. I know I committed sins I don't even remember.
Sorry to hear about your childhood and teen years. But I dont want you to feel alone, I do don't remember all my sins. You can pray to the Lady of Sorrows to be reminded of them. God bless

I think at the end of confession saying "for these and any sins of my whole life i may have forgotten to mention i ask absolution from you, Father" will help a lot. Adoration and a daily Examine of Conscious will help also. Ask God " Show me what is it You want me to confess. " I also have a lot of trauma from my childhood and those three things along with a deep prayer life are the only.things that helped me. @@Jesusisallandiamnothing maybe some of them are better forgotten, a very wise priest told me to "pray and ask God to heal the wounds of sin and to wipe your memory clean to start anew" We aren't here for long time, holding onto the past is like holding onto burning coals. Go to Confession, repent and give it to God. Pray the Holy Rosary. Living a life of Penance does not mean to keep dwelling on the past.
I did my first general confession in all my life at tlm last night, and the hapiness after that confession was out of this world. I feel so free and couldnt believe it. It is amazing! I feel light and so loved! Thank you Jesus for this sacrament! Be Catholic!!!
...it's happened to me, it was an awesome blessing... the experience was very comforting, I felt overwhelming peace & compassion, from the "knowing" by the Priest. Heartfelt cleansing of my soul & such a light uplifting feeling in my heart... I cherish that very special encounter.

As a catholic we are very fortunate to have confession. I also go to confession once a month. Being pure in the heart and with God's Grace is the best feeling. And the best preparation for unexpected death and meeting with JESUS. In my age 60+ I try to be prepared. God bless you and family.❤🙏🙏🙏

I've never had a confessor that revealed this ability, but I have had a few that I STRONGLY suspected knew what was going on in my life , without actually knowing me, it's eerie at first but then you realize it's the Holy Spirit working through his servant. Praise our Holy Father!!!
Wow! The same thing happened to me in high school. I had no idea that he could do that. I never saw the priest before. He even knew my name and there was a screen between us! It was the most amazing gift. I believe that is a big part of why I love our faith and priests so much ♥️🙏🏼🙌🏻praise God !
I once went to confession in Costa Rica, I was a little afraid the language barrier could be a problem because my Spanish was not very good, but I went anyway. When I kneeled and would start talking, the priest, an old man, asked me two small questions and proceeded to narrate what could happen to someone like me and in his story, we mentioned all the sins I wanted to confess. After he stopped talking, I just had to confirm: "that´s it Father, that´s what I wanted to confess'. And so, this confession was the first one I did not need to even say my sins... I am sure it was a valid confession. And the old priest was certainly a gifted man of God.

Wow what beautiful experience that must have been. I can only imagine the liberation you must have felt after that confession. I once did a very deep examination of conscience and I remember feeling light on weight.

Awesome. Is the priest who could read souls still alive? Can you share who he is? Or can you mention other specific priests who can read souls? I’ve always desired to confess to such a priest (St. John Vianney, Padre Pio, etc.) and I wasn’t aware they still existed.

I'm just curious as to why you weren't able to confess those deep sins before? Were they hidden from your consciousness or were you just not willing to let them come out during confession? I'm not trying to pry or be creepy, this sort of thing just fascinates me beyond explanation.
I’m often afraid something like this might happen to me. Good to know it still happens. I once went to confession in high school after many years of not going because in my church it was never emphasized whatsoever as something we need to do, and I planned on saying certain things but not others, but once I got in I said it unexpectedly. I would like to think God moved me to not conceal.

I wish all priests could be like that. Padre Pio had that gift, and he would hear confessions for about 16 hours at a time. My guess is that people were quite comfortable with his abity to read souls. I didnt realize there were more priests like him.

Thank you for sharing. I would love the freedom of that experience. We would probably need food and coffee brought in and a porta potty set up, but the opportunity to have hidden/forgotten sins forgiven would be incredible.

Hi Heather, there happens to be a special priest that lives about 2 hours away from me that was a friend of Padre Pio and St. Mother Teresa. He can read souls too and I am trying to make an appointment with him so I can have all my sins, especially the ones I missed and don't remember, absolved from me. So far, I have not gotten a response from him, but I hope I I will, and i don't mind taking a road trip to see him. IMO, it would be well worth it.
If you don't mind me asking who is the priest and where is he located? Im also looking to find a priest who read souls and do a confession with him. I really hope I can find one.

I've never found a priest that could read a soul you are so blessed to find this. I just ask the holy spirit to show me my sins and then I go to confession. I love going once a month

One day when I was confessing I had confessed an old sin I had repeated it but the priest told me there was no need to confess it again as God had already forgiven me. I was shocked because there was a huge barrier between us so he couldn't even see me. I was so shocked

I would love to find a priest like this. Adding to the problem is too many have confessions for only 45 minutes on Saturday. I realize you could make an appointment, but many of the priests in our area aren’t fluent in English so I have a hard time confessing and a harder time trying to understand what they say. I’m elderly and wish some of the priests could fine time on weekday afternoons to hear Confessions. Unless you live in a metro area with a lot of churches, your Confession times are limited.

One confession I was nervous about coming to confession because I left the church I was gone for 13 years I didn't know how to come back the priest was very helpful it took me many confessions since I had been gone for so long took me a long time to get all my mortal sins at confession since there were so many of them and it happened so long ago I had to go back 50 years 40 years 30 years because when I was baptized at age 22 I didn't know how to make a confession I didn't know what to confess I didn't know what the church standards were to confess I didn't know what a mortal sin was I did not know what veni sin was so I talked to a family friend that's Catholic . I'm close to them I'm close to them they are from the Philippines . My wife is from the Philippines we were married in the Catholic Church together.
I would call it the gift of Discernment. It’s from the Holy Spirit. Many Christian’s or Charismatic Catholic Christians who are in tuned with the gifts of the Spirit understand. I have never heard it called reading a soul…

A Catholic moms life thank you for posting this! I’ve heard of a Fr Graves who I think was the…idk the word for it but like a paduwan learner of sorts of one of St Padre Pios paduwans. He read a friends soul and she also said it was very freeing and helpful.

It's great that you have good confession experiences. My confession in my pre-marriage class was irritating. The priest didn't care about anything I was confessing, just sort of sitting through it to get it over with, till his ears perked up when I mentioned that I was living with my fiance at the time. Then he got visibly angry and went on a tear for 5 minutes.
And don't think for one minute that the priest forgets it all when you are done.... I have had priests very definitely treat me differently after my confessions. They are human beings so they can't just wipe it all from their minds. Some DO see and treat you differently, no matter what anyone tells you. I speak from experience. I confess directly to God now who 'does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities'. (Ps 103:1)

@@1974AMDG Respectfully, that is not a good reason to forfeit going to Confession as a practicing Catholic. You need to pray for the spirit of forgiveness and forgive those priests who you feel offended or hurt you. We are required to regularly partake in the Sacraments and the absolute minimum for Confession is at least once a year during Lent. Do you think Jesus doesn't know that you can go to Him directly? Why do you think he constituted the church, when we could just pray by ourselves in our homes? Remember also, the enemy is always looking for ways to ruin our souls and destroy our unity with Christ. There are great priests everywhere, who will honor the Sacrament of Reconciliation and you won't have to worry about any of those issues. Ask God to guide you this area, I pray you overcome this impediment. God bless!

That would be great, to go to a priest like that. About a year or so I had the opposite experience, where the first two or three things I confessed he would act like I was wasting his time, saying “that’s not a sin, and that’s not a sin.” It was on the tip of my tongue to say, “well, I guess I’m just pretty darn perfect then! “. Finally I found something that he deemed worthy of absolution. It was a very strange experience.
Could you speak more about the priest who was short with you? I had a priest get angry with me, tell me I was wrong(which I had confessed that I was wrong), tell me I needed to suffer with Jesus verses criticizing the church, and tell me to pray for the souls who died that day. It was a brutally honest response to my confession. I really felt the Holy Spirit. But it has scared me. And I love going to confession. But this time woke me up. Very interested in other’s experiences. Because no one has confided in me that priests see them. I also had a priest say, “Can you look me in the eyes please?” Very direct comment. Thank you!
I went to confession the first time after 15 years. It was terrible. I didn't know where to start. Obviously I had done many sins everyday for YEARS. It's so much, I don't remember! I told the priest about my insecurity but he didn't help. Just sat there and waited. I could not say anything except for one two bigger things and repeating 'don't know where to start'. Nothing concrete came to my mind even though I know how sinful I am. I felt terrible during that and afterwards for weeks and months. I don't know what to do differently next time and honestly I'm not sure if there's a next time :(
Go to another priest at another parish. Make an appoitment at the parish office to speak to the priest..it will help. Explain its been many years and you need help with confession. Go to mass as often as you can. Sunday and during the weekdays.
I'm so sorry this was your experience. Is it possible to have an informal meeting with a priest you trust and they can perhaps guide you how to make your examination of conscience? Perhaps pray to St Padre Pio to send you ab understanding confessor. +
Hi, please don’t feel discouraged to go to confession. God knows the dispositions of our hearts and whether or not our hearts are inclined to wanting forgiveness and reconciliation with Him. God knows that we are humans and we have finite minds that forget things. I recommend that you try meditating and praying, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal your sins, even the ones that you might not be aware of. Since we are prone to forgetting sometimes, and God knows that, then just tell the priest that you are truly sorry for all other sins that you’ve committed and cannot remember or have forgotten, I’ve done this before and it’s acceptable. Just as long as you don’t hold back from confessing something that you know is a sin, then it’s not a sin. If you remember that sin after your confession, don’t fret, it’s already been forgiven because of what you said to the priest, and if it’s really getting at you and convicting you, then confess it to the priest next time in confession, telling him that you know it’s been forgiven but you wanted to let that out. I’m praying for you, our Christian journey is hard but so worth it, living in the love and peace of God and having complete and utter bliss in His mercy for eternity is 100% worth it. Please - Give it another try. Ask around before you go to confession. There are great priests who will be like Jesus and guide you through your confession. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. I’ve been where you are it will be a true gift when you receive absolution.
It also happen to my wife and I. At that point We were in shock, baffled. He knew the deepest pain in our souls from the past. At that point I knew the Presence of God was working thru the holy priest. 🙏 God is always around.
I said a prayer after confession and with a deep open heart asked for forgiveness and our lady sent me a messenger with a message of peace and love . A man in a black suit and white shirt with no face or hands or feet levitation beside me with heaven filled with light and pink flowers behind him . He said god loves everyone and cares for each of us the homeless people have a home . Our prayers travel and echo loudly over heaven . We have to pray with love and an open heart to our lady . Our prayers are flowers at her feet.

Can you tell us who the Priest is and his location? It would be great to go to Confession to a Priest who has this gift!! I have been praying asking God to send me to a Priest like this; also have asked Holy Mary to pray to God for me about this.

My spiritual director has that gift. But he won’t serve your sins EVERY TIME on a silver plate tho! Sometimes he would tell me a sin, which i didn’t see as one, other times he would guide me in a direction in order for me to dig deeper and discover my faults. But always letting me prepare my confessions, doing the hard work, reading and learning what a sin is and thinking hard where i sin. Through the holy spirit he guides me softly, never in order to overburden my soul. There are times when he is more strict and says: Enough of that, carry that cross now without crying… other times like the most loving father he is very gentle in certain areas. Always watching for the state of my soul. After confession he prays for deliverance if he sees a demon attached, also for healing especially for trauma. Working with them is hard for me but GOD is gentle and he guides him softly and slowly. B’cos knowing the root of the trauma, which happened maybe when you were a child, could crush the person and put her in an even more difficult spot. So if you have a trauma, if something happened to you as a child and you can’t remember, it’s ok, b’cos your brain is protecting itself by not remembering. GOD knows and he will heal you but in his time b’cos he won’t overburden you!
@@meaganmcgrath7556 I'm in Europe and i can't give name away like that, since he is also working as an exorcist! But i learnt one thing, you don't come to such priest, the Lord brings him to you! Pray and when the time is right, he will sent you the priest you need! I 've been many many years without spiritual director and with false ones, who couldn't understand me. But that was always in the plan of GOD. Like i said, he will bring him to you when the time is right and when he sees that you need one.

Confession helps hold us accountable for sin by speaking of it out loud to a person. Some people are uncomfortable confessing to their parish priest, so go to a different parish where the priest doesn’t know you. It is refreshing to feel the forgiveness given by God through the priest. God bless you all.

Many people have more experience with psychological counseling than confession, and the two could not be more different. Psychological/Psychiatric counseling depends on the counselor and their training and background, but I think it’s safe to say that it involves a lot more verbiage from the patient/analysand/sinner. Basic advice for the confessional is: Be brief, Be blunt, Be gone. When the Priest hears confession and speaks, it is Jesus speaking through him. We confess our sins to Jesus but in the presence of the Priest who represents Jesus. When the Priest prays the prayer of Absolution it is in the Name of Jesus and it is Jesus who forgives us. I thank Jesus for our Priests. We need to pray for them all bcse they are in the frontline of attack from Satan. Bring a Priest down and the sheep are scattered. May Jesus Bless our Priests. Protect them from all evil and make them holy.

I dont mind about this. Its good to have a priest with this gift help making us conscious of your sins and imperfections. I mind about priest that are agressive and uncharitable. Because im complete in my confession. And i expect for advice on how to change and improve not to get insulted. And trust me....last 2 confessions were a disaster. I am 59, for some reason over the past few years I have been thinking about so many sins that I committed when I was a young man, "A LOT" I took advantage and hurt people, I didn't know just how bad they were at the time....I am in trouble, there are just way too many to document. I pray the rosary everyday, but I haven't been going to Mass and it's been a few years since I've been to confession.....it's so hard to support the church under the current leadership/those in power....I never confessed the sins I am remembering :(
I understand the corruption being sad but that is not who the Catholic faith is, even one of the twelve disciples was corrupt that didn’t mean all of them are were traders. If you honest and truly forgot a sin or didn’t know it was a sin, it is absolved. However you are supposed to examine you conscience before confession.

Hello Friends! Lots of questions about this video! The priest that saw my soul his name was Fr Mary(he was a priest visiting from the Middle East), he read my soul over 20 years ago when I was in high school. I do not know where he is now but I do know for a fact there are other priests that have this gift. Out of all my years Fr Mary is the only priest the I’ve met that has this gift. But I know more are out there. I encourage you to ask God to lead you to one if you are hoping for one. Also yes it is biblical to confession your sins to a priest! And to be Catholic it is required to go to confession at least once a year. I know lots of other Saints had this gift besides Padre Pio. I hope this helped God bless😊

The motivation for going to confession is to confess sins, seek absolution, and to obtain an increase in sanctifying grace. I would not want to be in a confessional out of curiosity. Confession is a sacrament, and not a trip to a psychic. There are more priests who do not have the gift of reading souls. The point is that God knows all of our sins better than we do. If we make a good examination of conscience and confess to the best of our ability, then we are forgiven. The problem is that most Catholics do not take advantage of the opportunity to go to confession frequently and worthily.
I've done some pretty intense examination of conscience, but I would LOVE to have the opportunity to confess to this Priest. I confess like this to St. Padre Pio at night, by myself, but I don't know how much I missed or if I'm being perfectly honest with myself. I'm glad for you that you had this chance. (last time I went face to face, and I confessed some stuff I had a hard time admitting).
That happened to my wife. She confessed her sins, and as she was receiving absolution, she remembered another sin, and she thought about it and wanted to mention it but was too afraid, and the priest stopped the absolution and named the sin and asked God to forgive her also for that very specific sin (he named the exact sin!). He then finished the absolution.

Yeah 😊 because sometimes you don't know how to vocalise the sin that you commited but have in mind .....so it comes out differently.....if you know what I mean ....( See it even happens here 🤣) .....but I hate this new confession set up .....where you face to face sitting before the priest ...no confessional box .....you tend to tone down your sin ....( Which is a sin itself 🤣) ....priests are human Afterall....and I'm sure that they will look at you differently after a confession .....****😂 Scary stuff

I was privileged to have that happen to me once, and the sin that I had forgotten and even bragged about, and justified to myself for years was gently exposed in all its hideous evil and I thanked the priest for showing me and later I wept in contrition. Later I told 3 friends about my experience and they all gasped as it happened to them as well with that priest. I sill always be grateful to that late priest.

I literally *just* went to confession and experienced this (like 20 mins ago). This video being in my recommended feed feels Providential! It’s not like the priest named anything I had done, but he made comments eluding to a sinful past (I have one, and I didn’t tell him!) and every word of advice he gave struck me to my core. Felt like it everything he said was tailor-made for me. Praise God!

I think at the end of confession saying "for these and any sins of my whole life i may have forgotten to mention i ask absolution from you, Father" will help a lot.
Adoration and a daily Examine of Conscious will help also. Ask God " Show me what is it You want me to confess. "
I also have a lot of trauma from my childhood and those three things along with a deep prayer life are the only.things that helped me. Leaning of Jesus for healing and understanding has saved my life

We aren't here for long time, holding onto the past is like holding onto burning coals. Go to Confession, repent and give it to God. Pray the Holy Rosary. Living a life of Penance does not mean to keep dwelling on the past.

I once went to confession in Costa Rica, I was a little afraid the language barrier could be a problem because my Spanish was not very good, but I went anyway. When I kneeled and would start talking, the priest, an old man, asked me two small questions and proceeded to narrate what could happen to someone like me and in his story, we mentioned all the sins I wanted to confess. After he stopped talking, I just had to confirm: "that´s it Father, that´s what I wanted to confess'. And so, this confession was the first one I did not need to even say my sins... I am sure it was a valid confession. And the old priest was certainly a gifted man of God.

I'm just curious as to why you weren't able to confess those deep sins before? Were they hidden from your consciousness or were you just not willing to let them come out during confession? I'm not trying to pry or be creepy, this sort of thing just fascinates me beyond explanation.
I’m often afraid something like this might happen to me. Good to know it still happens. I once went to confession in high school after many years of not going because in my church it was never emphasized whatsoever as something we need to do, and I planned on saying certain things but not others, but once I got in I said it unexpectedly. I would like to think God moved me to not conceal.

I wish all priests could be like that. Padre Pio had that gift, and he would hear confessions for about 16 hours at a time. My guess is that people were quite comfortable with his abity to read souls. I didnt realize there were more priests like him.

Hi Heather, there happens to be a special priest that lives about 2 hours away from me that was a friend of Padre Pio and St. Mother Teresa. He can read souls too and I am trying to make an appointment with him so I can have all my sins, especially the ones I missed and don't remember, absolved from me. So far, I have not gotten a response from him, but I hope I I will, and i don't mind taking a road trip to see him. IMO, it would be well worth it.

Priests can't read souls. That's divination. He may have insight but reading souls sounds very wrong.

One day when I was confessing I had confessed an old sin I had repeated it but the priest told me there was no need to confess it again as God had already forgiven me. I was shocked because there was a huge barrier between us so he couldn't even see me. I was so shocked

I would love to find a priest like this. Adding to the problem is too many have confessions for only 45 minutes on Saturday. I realize you could make an appointment, but many of the priests in our area aren’t fluent in English so I have a hard time confessing and a harder time trying to understand what they say. I’m elderly and wish some of the priests could fine time on weekday afternoons to hear Confessions. Unless you live in a metro area with a lot of churches, your Confession times are limited.

One confession I was nervous about coming to confession because I left the church I was gone for 13 years I didn't know how to come back the priest was very helpful it took me many confessions since I had been gone for so long took me a long time to get all my mortal sins at confession since there were so many of them and it happened so long ago I had to go back 50 years 40 years 30 years because when I was baptized at age 22 I didn't know how to make a confession I didn't know what to confess I didn't know what the church standards were to confess I didn't know what a mortal sin was I did not know what veni sin was so I talked to a family friend that's Catholic . I'm close to them I'm close to them they are from the Philippines . My wife is from the Philippines we were married in the Catholic Church together.
Frequent confession is a soul saver. Go every first Saturday, easy way to remember. Every two weeks is best practice.
St John Paul went daily. If I could do that I would. My husband and I go weekly though.

A Catholic moms life thank you for posting this! I’ve heard of a Fr Graves who I think was the…idk the word for it but like a paduwan learner of sorts of one of St Padre Pios paduwans. He read a friends soul and she also said it was very freeing and helpful.

It's great that you have good confession experiences.
My confession in my pre-marriage class was irritating. The priest didn't care about anything I was confessing, just sort of sitting through it to get it over with, till his ears perked up when I mentioned that I was living with my fiance at the time. Then he got visibly angry and went on a tear for 5 minutes.
And don't think for one minute that the priest forgets it all when you are done.... I have had priests very definitely treat me differently after my confessions. They are human beings so they can't just wipe it all from their minds. Some DO see and treat you differently, no matter what anyone tells you. I speak from experience. I confess directly to God now who 'does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities'. (Ps 103:1)

@@1974AMDG Respectfully, that is not a good reason to forfeit going to Confession as a practicing Catholic. You need to pray for the spirit of forgiveness and forgive those priests who you feel offended or hurt you. We are required to regularly partake in the Sacraments and the absolute minimum for Confession is at least once a year during Lent. Do you think Jesus doesn't know that you can go to Him directly? Why do you think he constituted the church, when we could just pray by ourselves in our homes? Remember also, the enemy is always looking for ways to ruin our souls and destroy our unity with Christ. There are great priests everywhere, who will honor the Sacrament of Reconciliation and you won't have to worry about any of those issues. Ask God to guide you this area, I pray you overcome this impediment. God bless!

About a year or so I had the opposite experience, where the first two or three things I confessed he would act like I was wasting his time, saying “that’s not a sin, and that’s not a sin.” It was on the tip of my tongue to say, “well, I guess I’m just pretty darn perfect then! “. Finally I found something that he deemed worthy of absolution. It was a very strange experience.

Could you speak more about the priest who was short with you? I had a priest get angry with me, tell me I was wrong(which I had confessed that I was wrong), tell me I needed to suffer with Jesus verses criticizing the church, and tell me to pray for the souls who died that day. It was a brutally honest response to my confession. I really felt the Holy Spirit. But it has scared me. And I love going to confession. But this time woke me up. Very interested in other’s experiences. Because no one has confided in me that priests see them. I also had a priest say, “Can you look me in the eyes please?” Very direct comment. Thank you!

I went to confession the first time after 15 years. It was terrible. I didn't know where to start. Obviously I had done many sins everyday for YEARS. It's so much, I don't remember! I told the priest about my insecurity but he didn't help. Just sat there and waited. I could not say anything except for one two bigger things and repeating 'don't know where to start'. Nothing concrete came to my mind even though I know how sinful I am. I felt terrible during that and afterwards for weeks and months. I don't know what to do differently next time and honestly I'm not sure if there's a next time :(
Go to another priest at another parish. Make an appoitment at the parish office to speak to the priest..it will help. Explain its been many years and you need help with confession. Go to mass as often as you can. Sunday and during the weekdays.
I'm so sorry this was your experience. Is it possible to have an informal meeting with a priest you trust and they can perhaps guide you how to make your examination of conscience? Perhaps pray to St Padre Pio to send you ab understanding confessor. +
It helps if you examine your conscience before hand and write them down. I type them in my phone and then delete then after confession.
Hi, please don’t feel discouraged to go to confession. God knows the dispositions of our hearts and whether or not our hearts are inclined to wanting forgiveness and reconciliation with Him. God knows that we are humans and we have finite minds that forget things. I recommend that you try meditating and praying, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal your sins, even the ones that you might not be aware of. Since we are prone to forgetting sometimes, and God knows that, then just tell the priest that you are truly sorry for all other sins that you’ve committed and cannot remember or have forgotten, I’ve done this before and it’s acceptable. Just as long as you don’t hold back from confessing something that you know is a sin, then it’s not a sin. If you remember that sin after your confession, don’t fret, it’s already been forgiven because of what you said to the priest, and if it’s really getting at you and convicting you, then confess it to the priest next time in confession, telling him that you know it’s been forgiven but you wanted to let that out. I’m praying for you, our Christian journey is hard but so worth it, living in the love and peace of God and having complete and utter bliss in His mercy for eternity is 100% worth it.

Please - Give it another try. Ask around before you go to confession. There are great priests who will be like Jesus and guide you through your confession. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. I’ve been where you are it will be a true gift when you receive absolution.

I said a prayer after confession and with a deep open heart asked for forgiveness and our lady sent me a messenger with a message of peace and love . A man in a black suit and white shirt with no face or hands or feet levitation beside me with heaven filled with light and pink flowers behind him . He said god loves everyone and cares for each of us the homeless people have a home . Our prayers travel and echo loudly over heaven . We have to pray with love and an open heart to our lady . Our prayers are flowers at her feet.
I know a priest like that. He is a very holy priest and I love the confessions I have had with him.

My spiritual director has that gift.
But he won’t serve your sins EVERY TIME on a silver plate tho!
Sometimes he would tell me a sin, which i didn’t see as one, other times he would guide me in a direction in order for me to dig deeper and discover my faults.
But always letting me prepare my confessions, doing the hard work, reading and learning what a sin is and thinking hard where i sin.
Through the holy spirit he guides me softly, never in order to overburden my soul.
There are times when he is more strict and says: Enough of that, carry that cross now without crying… other times like the most loving father he is very gentle in certain areas. Always watching for the state of my soul.
After confession he prays for deliverance if he sees a demon attached, also for healing especially for trauma. Working with them is hard for me but GOD is gentle and he guides him softly and slowly. B’cos knowing the root of the trauma, which happened maybe when you were a child, could crush the person and put her in an even more difficult spot.
So if you have a trauma, if something happened to you as a child and you can’t remember, it’s ok, b’cos your brain is protecting itself by not remembering. GOD knows and he will heal you but in his time b’cos he won’t overburden you!

@@meaganmcgrath7556 I'm in Europe and i can't give name away like that, since he is also working as an exorcist! But i learnt one thing, you don't come to such priest, the Lord brings him to you! Pray and when the time is right, he will sent you the priest you need! I 've been many many years without spiritual director and with false ones, who couldn't understand me. But that was always in the plan of GOD. Like i said, he will bring him to you when the time is right and when he sees that you need one.

Confession helps hold us accountable for sin by speaking of it out loud to a person. Some people are uncomfortable confessing to their parish priest, so go to a different parish where the priest doesn’t know you. It is refreshing to feel the forgiveness given by God through the priest. God bless you all.

Many people have more experience with psychological counseling than confession, and the two could not be more different.
Psychological/Psychiatric counseling depends on the counselor and their training and background, but I think it’s safe to say that it involves a lot more verbiage from the patient/analysand/sinner.
Basic advice for the confessional is: Be brief, Be blunt, Be gone. Basic advice for the patient in psychological counseling: talk, talk and then talk some more, and eventually we’ll find some peg upon which we can hang your unhappiness.
What people need, nay, require, is for confessors to assist in the examination of conscience, because far too many people have no idea where even to begin.
What people need is, in fact, another Inquisition.

I would most definitely go bright red through shame guilt embarrassment and would physically shake and I praise Jesus and Mary for this.
When the Priest hears confession and speaks, it is Jesus speaking through him. We confess our sins to Jesus but in the presence of the Priest who represents Jesus. When the Priest prays the prayer of Absolution it is in the Name of Jesus and it is Jesus who forgives us. I thank Jesus for our Priests. We need to pray for them all bcse they are in the frontline of attack from Satan. Bring a Priest down and the sheep are scattered. May Jesus Bless our Priests. Protect them from all evil and make them holy.

I dont mind about this. Its good to have a priest with this gift help making us conscious of your sins and imperfections. I mind about priest that are agressive and uncharitable. Because im complete in my confession. And i expect for advice on how to change and improve not to get insulted. And trust me....last 2 confessions were a disaster. I stopped going to Mass for a while. Im too angry. When i will be ready i will go back to Church.

I am 59, for some reason over the past few years I have been thinking about so many sins that I committed when I was a young man, "A LOT" I took advantage and hurt people, I didn't know just how bad they were at the time....I am in trouble, there are just way too many to document. I pray the rosary everyday, but I haven't been going to Mass and it's been a few years since I've been to confession.....it's so hard to support the church under the current leadership/those in power....I never confessed the sins I am remembering :(
I understand the corruption being sad but that is not who the Catholic faith is, even one of the twelve disciples was corrupt that didn’t mean all of them are were traders. There are so many amazing priests. Confession is so healing I guarantee you will feel a million percent better! God bless you on your journey
If you honest and truly forgot a sin or didn’t know it was a sin, it is absolved. However you are supposed to examine you conscience before confession.
