  • In a tough market Kawasaki have been innovative in finding a few spots in the market where new sized machine are a great option, this year saw the release of the KLX 230 and KLX300 range.
Belly and Cam had the chance to get the KLX300 out for a test, and were super please at what this machine has to offer the rider.

@@Davido50 I rode it a lot this summer and have to say it’s been reliable and overall its a great bike! It never feels overly fast or intimidating. I’m gonna keep it stock.
I live in Northern MI and all the trails are pretty much sand, this bike handles it well! I bought Dunlop Geomax MX12 Tires that I will be putting on next summer specifically for the sand.
Newer riders, intermediate riders, and riders that like cruising will be happy with the KLX300R

@@Davido50 The main issue with stock performance is how corked up it is for emissions. It runs very lean stock. A $250 EJK fixes that though. Then removing the air box lid and buying a $250 slip on (with tweaking of the EJK) has left me very happy with it's performance. My last bike was a DRZ400 and my KLX doesn't feel underpowered by comparison

One thing that motorcycle manufacturers should do that would increase sales dramatically is make dealerships post the out the door price for their products. Having a low MSRP just to get potential buyers in just to be stuck with bogus bullshit fees is a put off and keeps ones that would buy from doing so. Some manufacturers do list freight fees and tax/license is known but making the MSRP a starting point for a screwing is wrong. If McDonald's used the same tactics to sell the Big Mac they'd have to be financed.

I agree with Roughman. There are endless options in the market you are talking about. Kawi leads sales in 140cc dirtbike market for kids. Dads who dont race or want a $11k dirtbike with high maintenance need a bike to rip around on with their kids, or the guy who just wants an entry level trail bike without a carb. However, IF they put this on a light frame like the old klx300 they would have hit a huge market.

    • @dv8214
      @dv8214 4 года назад

@Roughman I get the purpose and the klx 300 was the perfect bike for me at that time. That being said I wish they updated it more or even used an older kx250f frame or did something like the crf250x. for the riding I do right now Kawasaki doesnt make anything for me. The kx450 is too much power for me in the woods, both the kx250 and kx450 would overheat easily and I cant mount a fan on either, both bikes suspension are too stiff, small gas tanks, a mx bike needs alot of work to make it into a proper woods bike or at least what my view on what a woods bike is

This bike has been around in 250 form from the mid 90's I think 97 was the first year for the 300. The 250 was also sold as a street legal model with electric start, not so for the 300.
      Almost everything is carried over.
Im not knocking this bike. It is a good and dependable bike for what it is.
I had a 96 KLX250R that I modded and had a 351cc kit on it. If it had the magic button, I would still have it.
But really with Kawasaki pulling parts from the 27 year old parts bin, this bike should cost less than it does $$$.
Kawasaki could have taken the electric start off the 250 on/off road model and built this bike 20 tears ago.
The only new major thing added is the fuel injection.

Also responsiveness and service from USA MotorToys is 2nd to none. That said, I've had issues with the the EFI and rear shock since day one. Both had to be replaced before I could really use the bike. All summer the bike ran fine and I had a blast, putting over 100 hors on in our tough terrain and keeping pace with all the "big-boy" bikes I ride with ;) .
Then back in early Oct issues started. I had a short in the EFI to coil line, a failed regulator

Its a play bike not a track bike there is no reason not to give a play a headlight . At least with a headlight and tail light added you can make it street legal a lot easier . You also have to take into consideration the guy riding in the video the one in white is probably 5'6 5'4 etc so the bike looks normal sized. Even the older guy isnt taller than 5'8 to 5'10.
This bike is not for taller roders 6'1 and above youll feel cramped and uncomfortable.

Great for the money, but I wish they would build a more race oriented trail bike.

Ive sat on this bike multiple times... Its SMALL lengthwise seriously small you feel cramped... Im 6'1 200lb the height is nice but its uncomfortable.
For someone 5'10 and under its a good fit. But 6'1 and taller it doesn't look it in video but sit on one its small and cramped.
