Craig, I admire the way you take a mundane scene/subject and turn it into something that's visually appealing. The mark of an artist.

Thanks! I like visually stunning vistas as much as the next photographer. However, as travel is not always possible I like to explore the photographic opportunities around me.

I appreciate the quiet simplicity of your videe. Excellent

Thanks! Sometimes I just want to go out and shoot a photo or two, but am not always in the mood to talk on camera about what I am doing. I go out on a lot of small/short outings around town for an hour or two, but don’t usually film these. I want to try to film more often when I am on these impromptu small outings. Even though I wasn’t in the mood to speak on camera I figured why not just put together a short video just showing me shooting. I liked it enough to post it. Glad you liked it. I hope to do more of these types of videos, for better or worse, in the future.

Interesting picture. Made something from not too much. Nice work.

Hi, I can not tell by the video but did you use the drop bed method on the camera or have you inverted the lens board to get that perspective? thanks.

      I inverted the lens board.

Nice video, it's good to see someone else still using film. I'm just on my first roll of Ultrafine 400 ,120 being shot with a 1947 crown graphic 2x3 that I just finished servicing earlier this year.

I just saw the link to the tutorial on how to modify and make it tilt forward . Did you have to do anything special because the screws on my camera don't come all the way out to release the lens board.

How do you get to tilt your lens down? My speed graphic only tilts back.

Would have gone up in the composition maybe 10 degrees... thanks for making this !

Out of the (possibly) dozens of possible compositions in that yard, how did you choose the one you photographed? In other words, what drew you to that photograph over all the other potential ones there?

I had been photographing around the corner from this location (which I didn’t film). I walked around the corner on the way back to my car and saw that the gate to the area was opened. So I decided to take a look. I looked at my watch and noticed I only had about 40 mins before I had to be to work. I quickly started to assess the area for a potential photo. I saw many possibilities, but most had some element that I thought would be too distracting in a composition. I saw the tire with the cement and pole in it and thought it created a nice diagonal. The tonal range and other elements seemed right and I thought I could make a fairly clean composition. I then decided I would film quickly taking the shot. This was a very impromptu “quick” photo. So I honestly was acting on instinctual reactions to the visual elements available to me in the area. While photographing it I wondered if I would like the image. I think it is alright, probably could be better, but I want to start sharing, for better or worse, more of the “impromptu” outings that I go on.

Hi Craig, love your videos I noticed you are less active in photography lately. Hope this will change, I also need the same thing happen to me.
