Dear Carmen! I studied movement with You in 1980' s in HB Studio. I' m glad to know You are still alive. You are a beautiful, very kind and intelligent person. I wish you good health and may you live forever.
I went and saw her dance when I was nine. I thought she was beautiful. I put my short hair in a bun and danced around the room. I am now 62. She was memorable.
de Lavallade is the embodiment of a great period in ethnic dance. And -- thank God -- I was appreciative of the times when I saw Katherine Dunham, the Archie Savage Dance Group, Pearl Primus, Carmen de Lavallade, Avon Long (such technique), Jeni Le Gon, among many others, oddly enough some hounded with accusations of left wing association.
It's so lovely hearing about your story about how you got involved in dance:)❤🌹
Beautiful! Thoroughly enjoyed this. A true icon.
Thank you for posting! What a Treasure of History and Experience to share with us! The Joy and Magic of her Artistry’! Thank You Madame !

Beautiful wise woman. The kind of elder young people need in this day and age.
