  • Carol with Dick Cavett. Sorry for slight blips; this was four separate parts. And I had to screencapture some of the parts that didn't rip.

Thanks for uploading this. people who criticize this don't know that this was the style of talk shows back then. there were only 1-2 guests and the host was genuinely interested in the guest and wanted the audience to know the guest on a personal level and not ask the same old questions that get asked today. Again Thanks.

You kind of need to have watched Cavett in the 70s when it aired to understand his style, which was a reaction to other kinds of interviewers. It was the time of "rap sessions", of having very honest non-social talk. He brought that to the TV and was considered "hip" TV. It doesn't translate well to current times, but back then he was considered pretty cool for his original, talkative, get-personal style.

We need some talk shows like this now where the host just sits and talks realistically with famous folks. Has real conversations, and the person interviewed is genuine, not playing up for the camera too much, and ask real questions. It is hard to deal with shows where each person gets 3 min, is asked all the same questions every time, has no time to be themselves.

She's got a fine singing voice.

Dick Caveat is the finest TV personality, journalist and talk show host EVER-period. There have been hundreds over the years now.... But Dick ALWAYS delivered. Even with the awful guests (Brando comes to mind) Dick would always turn it on its head. Genuinely love and thank Dick Caveat for his contribution to entertainment and history and the enjoyment he has provided us for all these years.
