So he’s doing 315 on the incline for sets of five and it’s not a piece a cake. Now seven years later he does 405 for three reps on incline?! In this video there’s no way he could do 405 even once but he’s all natural?! What a joke!
@TheLeilisa The average height for a pro is 5'5 to 5'10. It's really hard to fill out a larger frame which is why you don't see that many guys over six feet. One thing I've noticed is some guys like Shawn Ray like to lie about their height. Not sure why. It's not like anyone would respect him less for being 5'6 than 5'7 but guys like to lie about their height in general so why should bodybuilders be an exception?
I think he said cowbelly, but the y just was without sound. I. e. he means that it's okay to have an arch (arching your back => belly might come out a bit) and we have further evidence of this since he pulls up his shirt a little implying he is talking about whats underneath -> his stomach.
I have known a lot of guys over the years that were super super strong and had some good size and were natural. Genetics, discipline, and consistent meal intake have a huge role on their strength and size. With this combination, many with get amazing results even natural. Some guys are just stronger… it is what it is. Most natural guys have to train pretty heavy to gain size like I do.
Don't get me wrong now. I know everyone lies but I pride myself on taking people's words and giving them the benefit of the doubt. With that, midway through he said "I'm a natural bodybuilder, always have been..." As fans, don't we owe him the respect to believe his words when he says he's natural? Maybe it's just me but until I see a failed drug test or actual admission of use from Mike himself, I am going to take his word.
Nah i agree @JohnRueter Of course he could be lying, but he has none of the visual side effects, and has been training for what? 30 years or something?
*"Owe"* ?! Why would I "owe" anything to Mike OHearn?? If my mind's opinion is that he is not natural, that's perfectly fine. Now, we're not talking about me cancelling Mike's pro card, or fining him for not being natural - without any evidence of a "failed drug test".... because, yes, that would be unfair. But that's the only thing that I could "owe" anybody.
Holy shit I been watching o hern vids for awile totally didn't realize he was on American gladiators I was like ten when he said it I was like ohhhh yeahhh that is him
In incline press it shows he's doing 80lbs dumbells and then when he reps it they turn into 100lbs . Then after the reps he puts them down and they are 80lbs again.... I think they added a clip or messed up an edit lol. mike o Hern is a beast for real though !!!!💪
I do a similar training routine. But not quite exactly how he does it. If you notice he is not constantly going "heavy" the entire workout. Its only for the first working sets. The other sets and exercises are done in the usual 8-10 rep range. If someone asked me, "do you do light or heavy?" Id have to honestly say "Both!". I cant do just one or the other. Numerous heavy sets, and then finish off with numerous light high reps seems to work best for me.
That's the way i go, if it's chest day, then I'm doing heavy low reps of incline first. Then alittle bit higher on Dumbells, then higher reps with machines
@@basicbodybuilding Yeah definitely, so it sounds like your doing also a similar training routine/concept here. Weight training routines can be so individualized per person according to the athlete's specific goals as well. I think this is something that the average gym goer does not quite understand.
Hollly shit lol. I wasn’t even thinking that deep. I thought it was some goofy Bodybuilder term that I didn’t know similar to how they call the triceps “horseshoes”
If I had to say, he maybe on test. Hes not blown up like Phil Heath. No matter what, Mike O Hearn, looks more natural than any of those competitive body builders. He's probably stronger than the majority of them as well. I love how he works out.
yeah working out takes a lot of commitment just look at a lot of americans that can only work out for like a month then lose the drive. getting big isnt just physical strength its mental strength too and take a lot of work
Can anyone tell me this...So , does he mean here to press the same weight(the weight started) for each exercise for 5 reps ?? For example , if im incline pressing 100lbs for the first set , i shud do it for the next 4 sets with that weight itself , then for flat db press 60lbs , for remaining 3 sets agian 60 lbs itself ?? If it is like that , how can it make growth , bcoz we should increase weight at each set to increase muscle tension na ??
Now that is the truest statement Ive seen on youtube period.People dont have want someone has worked ther ass off for years to get and so nah hell no it has to be steroids.Talk to them long enough though and eventually theyll say something admitting how they worked out for a couple of weeks got frusterated because they didnt look like Ronnie Coeman and quit.Or they did mostly push ups and sit ups lol.Heaven forbid these days you have muscle density and conditioning then your juicing.
2:20 is the absolute WORST advice I have ever heard. He tells you to hit your maximum weight, then pretty much says "You don't need a spotter." Downright bull shit! Always have a spotter! You never know if you are going to get a rush of fatigue, dizziness, or have to sneeze or something. I'm kind of disappointed a website such called BodyBuilding would even push this idea.
@bigbobabc123 the hell they cant. Most people on here need to realize some people do indeed have way more potential to be athletic than you do. There's obvious steroid users, gifted athletes, and normal folks who work hard and look good but will never reach a certain level of strength and explosive ability.
That's a load of hogwash. People throw dumbbells because they don't have to pay for them when they break. Charge you the hundreds of dollars it costs to replace a dumbbell that size and you'll find the strength to put down the weight properly.
So he might be natural now but I can guarantee he took roids when he was younger. I know of natural body builders, they are natural now but took a few cycle of roids to gain that huge muscle size.
So I watched this and my opinion is that whoever thinks Mike is full of himself is insecure and doesn't have a sense of humour. I think it's obvious it's all dry humour
I've been working out for more years than I want to remember. If you have the right genetics, you can definately get his look. Especially with the type of intense workout that he's promoting. Look at guys like Herchel Walker, or Bo Jackson, With the right genetics, it can be done. Also with the proper diet, think how much better you'll look if you just drop 10lbs. of fat, and replace it with 10lbs. of muscle. Anyone can do that.
I've seen numerous break. Often it's the end cap that snaps off along with the threads. I've ever seen one sheer right off at the handle. Dumbbells are pretty resilient if you drop them straight down. It's when you are dropped at an angle, which is how most weight lifters drop them after a set, that's when they break. It's why you see more makers designing theirs a bit loose so there is some give to the bar.
I don't know if Mike is on steroids or nor. He could be natural. If he says he is, I'll believe him. He obviously has good genetics and flawless diet and training plus lots of supplementation and probably lots of prohomormones. But what really annoys me is when people say you can get even bigger naturally if you train for a long period of time.... come on, you can progress maybe first 5 - 7 years if you're doing everything right, but after that you'll stop growin no matter what you do....
I didn't grow much with 15 to 20 reps. Increased the weight and did 5 to 10 reps , each set to failure. Natural. Between 6 to 11 sets per muscle is always enough. All to failure. If not to failure, of course you could do 20 sets plus.
dude this excersize is weak, any amateur can follow this weak recipe, its all aboute pushing your reps to muscle failure each time and hitting muscle confusion with every excersize
Dude everyones fukn body structure is different the skeletal configuration its all different he can b 265 lb lean not everyone can be like i said different structure u just got to study and learn ur own body structure.....
The guy is heavier than Schwarzenegger was... Besides his advice sucks for a natural bodybuilder... Perhaps for a powerlifter the advise is sound, but not for bodybuilders. Too bad some people will learn wrong things from this fraud.
+MrKletsklets actually this is how I work out and I am natural. If you are natural and want mass, lift heavy. Doing this high rep shit is for dudes on gear who only need massive pump. The best case scenario, lift heavy 70% of the time, finish with a few sets to pump some more blood at the end. I made more gains lifting heavy (up to 5 -7 reps ) in 3 months then I did in a year going light.
Yes he means relative. Do not worry- Iused to wonder the same. Say you can do 5 sets of 5 with 100 kgs. Start off 90 kgs 5sets of 5 to get a mental boost and start adding 5 pounds total whenever you feel comfortable- that's how I did it.
I don't care if he is natty or not, this guy is impressive either way.
Leigh Yates awesome T shirt too
Yep
Absolutely
Exactly

That's not the only thing guys lie about
He’s grown quite a bit from this video till now. Look at shoulders traps and overall thickness.
thats what PEDs will do
Randomly click like i say top tier body in the world i see many of them no one even close to him pure hardwork
10 years later he still looks the same. Actually much better at age 51
Botox anti wrinkle
He's bigger now
PEDs
Did he just say combinate @ 1:32?
You had me at natural bodybuilder!
His advice is great I just wish he'd be honest about his PED use he's extremely impressive regardless so why not just admit to them.
this guy is awsome. hes got that charisma - i wish i could spell carisma...
It’s Better to Burn out , Than fade away !
You are a Hero Brother 💪👍
Skip 10 years he’s turned 315 into 405 incline for 5!! Insane
He's much bigger too
That's what happens when you train nonstop for decades on end
That’s what trt does

Love this one man's dream is another man's treasure thanks for all you do brother 💯

notice no screaming and no throwing the weights around like a ragdoll. this is how a man should lift.
disagree power building is more like 4 to 6 rep range. he is doing a traditional bodybuilding rep range
@mikeohearn respect, the pb routine has made enabled me to hit my max on squats, deadlifts and bench for the last 6 years in a row 🙌🏼
Great video

I was wondering the same thing. I think he means when your chest is so big your shirt doesn't touch your belly, resembling a cowbell.
Nvm. It's a reference to the SNL more cowbell skit. Will Ferrell's belly starts to show.
Hollly shit lol. I wasn’t even thinking that deep. I thought it was some goofy

Claims to be natural but squats and deadlifts over 700. Seems legit.
ummm yea it's possible to do that natural...
Blogofanclub right I deadlifted 600 at 23 years old and stop pushing any further and by no means am I special lol people just hate
people's strength standards are just too damn low these days, it saddens me. But anyways that 600 is pretty impressive to me :)
1. The weigths are huge in mass
2. Spotter can be helpful for beginners

Young Ohearn😁 He looks like just a regular Joe here. He looks super now.
He doesn't look like regular joe at all. His shirt is hiding a ton of size.
Dumbells require more stabilization so it will recruit more fibers, but you can't lift as much weight.

SIX sets of 5's?
OVERLOAD for the common Joe.
Dumbbells use more muscle really. Cause you have to use stablization muscles to blalance and keep the steidy.

hahahaha i love this guy.
could be wrong but I think its slang for when your shirt comes up and you can see your stomach lol
