I’m relatively new to your channel, but I’ve watched a number of your videos and love your teaching style. Personally, I haven’t done any drawing or painting in over 30 years, so I would love for your tutorials to continue. The challenges sound like fun, but I’m not there… I don’t think. I’ve been gathering supplies based on what seems to be the general consensus, so I’m very excited to see what’s in store!
I really like the tutorial idea, getting to know and see your process and how you think things through, I think down the road when and if you are ready you could flow the tutorials nicely into a challenge situation, where you give a tutorial of a subject that fits in the theme and then we can extrapolate from that and challenge ourselves to recreate it or add our own themed idea to it!
Hi Carrie! I’m a long time follower of your channel and I have always loved your videos and your personality. You have a beautiful heart. Since your main souls purpose seems to be teaching, may I suggest looking for ways to meet the ones who are just starting out where they are at. Many don’t have the skill set or materials that many others have. There is an artist on RUclips who started a series for extreme beginners using only a Prang and the brush it came with to start. His views have reached up to 19K. So there is a need. Also, many responded well to another artist who taught people how to paint and draw loosely. It went over huge. Also, many seem to respond well to therapeutic and relaxation art. Thank you for all that you do. Stay Beautiful!❤❤❤❤
This was a hard choice. But I think I would want the tutorial. Maybe ones that break down your process on simplifying shapes in animals and nature. Which ever you decide on though. I’ll be excited to participate i with you.
I'm happy with either, I think possibly more the watercolour challenges for me, but I know they were quite difficult for you before so whatever is easiest ❤❤
Moon would be awesome. Watercolor challenges are also fun. Would love to learn more about glazing. I think that's the term. When you paint layers to get darker and brigher colors without turning your paper to pulp? Thank you for reaching out to us.
I have little interest in challenges or challenge videos. I like the ideas of Draw like Me or draw this in your style kinds of videos, but I seldom participate in them! I will vote for small tutorials. I am very curious about how you create your simplistic animal pictures, drawing and painting them. So that’s my vote, small dedicated tutorials for subjects of your interest! I am going to watch the content that you create, so Please do what will bring you the most JOY! See ya on the flip side!
I like your style of painting, so I would like a Tutorial with your process. Please do the topic you enjoy, so that your enthusiasm comes through to us for the topics. Thank you very much for your effort.
I like the idea of a challenge. I learned how to paint with you, but my style has become a lot more abstract. But I always like whatever you do 🌚! I always learn from you no matter what you do. Thank you for the videos. I love that you're making this as easy on yourself as possible! 🥰
I'm really new to your channel, this is only my 3rd or 4th video, so I can't say which would be best for you or the rest of your misfits. I know I can't always do challenges. I am disabled & just relearning how to use my hands and regain my art. I am switching to watercolor from fiber art, oil painting and sculpting in the past. Watercolor tutorials from you will help me the most, but your old videos have probably got enough for me to work on for a long, long time.
Any thoughts on drawing animals. Please ignore me if that’s a thing you’re trying to get away from. But your animals are stylized, adorable, and very clean. (I also love the colors but those I understand from other art media.) A monthly theme would be great, a template would be wonderful. I always learn from you, I think half you’re great and half I’m a beginner. 😁 Just remember it’s your channel and you can do what you like with it. PS: If you showed your own current work once in a while and talked about it, that would be interesting, too.
Hello Carrie, a while since I have been with you. I love the idea of a tutorial. Funnily enough I have the fox I brought from your shop. I thought with autumn coming it would be fun to do again. Just to say. Currently having trouble accessing Watercolour Misfit land and not receiving an email link. Thought a good idea to mention. Looking forward to your tutorials. At least this way people can go off at a tangent and do their own thing. For me these are a little too intimidating. With a tutorial I can always add my own slot on it. So looking forward to whatever the majority choose to do. Thank you as always. :)
Would love sea life, ocean, but my struggle is “water” water coloring water like in a vase or in a body of water. Project/tutorial that you walk us thru plz. Thank you
As more of an expert who watches all kinds of things and finds tips even in ‘beginner’ content. My opinion is Do what YOU have the most passion/interest in doing as it takes your time/energy to do. You will do a better job doing the thing you are most excited to do. Success is always only a chance so do what you will enjoy regardless. Now in the case of being equally passionate for both options and unable to decide you can also combine them Video 1) a theme/challenge is given to viewers and yourself and you also determine (within that theme) a specific example you will tutorial Video 2) the specific tutorial (within the theme) Video 3) a more difficult example in the theme that you share more of the thought process for Video 4) (so everyone has time to work along and submit) is viewers Art being reviewed. Share positive observations and a few criticisms but always sandwich with a compliment or positive comment. Encourage everyone to keep making art. And perhaps even ask viewers to submit their thought process and what they were ‘going for’ along with the art and share that. There two ideas can become one and I Don’t think it’s confusing. But you also should think about what is manageable for your current health and energy levels. Work smarter not harder. Hope this comment is helpful.
Follow up comment from my comment below Carrie. I have accessed Water colour misfit land. Took a short time to get the links etc. So if anyone has trouble just be patient. I tried a handful of times. Cannot wait to head over there now Carrie. Thank you as always. :)
Thanks Ane - Stephen mentioned something about emails getting fixed due to a 3rd party issue. If you’re still having problems email out support at watercolormisfit email and he’ll help you out thanks 😊
I like watching art being made, so I would personally like small themed illustration "tutorials." You could have the tutorials be simple enough that sharing the template with your followers for free won't be costly to you, but would encourage your followers to paint along since they don't have to worry about making the art, just painting, since drawing is an entirely different skill. You can even have a very limited seasonal palette for each one, too, to keep it interesting and "aesthetic." For instance, fall and spooky season are coming up... the visuals are always fun with cozy drinks, pumpkins, SOUP, cats, MOON... a cat with cute striped socks sitting on a moon with a warm glass of cider, easily and cleanly rendered? Adorable. (I am an advanced artist, but I love watching these kinds of illustrations so much!) Personally, I feel that YT is innudated with loose florals, beginner tutorials (same information 3503475934758 times over), swatches with no actual art, and unboxing videos with so many delicious goodies but which can be quite discouraging to people who can't afford them - no judgement on any anyone doing these trendy things because everyone has to pay bills and eat and that is #1. Seriously, do the thing that helps you pay your bills. It does feel like it's getting a bit stangnant with very little illustrations being made, you know? Again, personal opinions, according to me. Maybe people will keep wanting loose florals, beginner tutorials, swatches with no actual art, and unboxing videos which a person who is not doing this for a living can't afford.
A good example is Nianian on YT. She has some things that are quite simple, and a few that are more advanced. I religiously watch her channel, it's engaging and her art is small enough that it's not overwhelming.
I agree with “chrisad1649” who requested small illustration tutorials. I would love to follow along with you on those. I find you illustrations of critters and people charming!

I would love to learn more ocean, waterfalls. Particularly one thing .

I would love a challenge, only because it will force me to take time to create! And I love seeing everyone's results and interpretations too!
Definitely mini tutorials….you are a good teacher as well as artist.

I'd enjoy monthly mini tutorials. I'm still learning all the little tricks to watercolor...
I like your style of painting, so I would like a Tutorial with your process. Please do the topic you enjoy, so that your enthusiasm comes through to us for the topics. Thank you very much for your effort.
Watercolor pattern tutorial, like ceramic tiles or talavera. I also like abstract art tutorials
Monthly challenge. But make it ok to use other media too. Thanks Carrie x Nell.

I vote for mini tutorial. Id like to see other ppls process and tutorial style videos.

Welcome to the channel! I'm definitely planning on doing mini-tutorials after reading the comments 😃

I hope you do the moon project and I would prefer a mini tutorial.
I think both ideas are good.
I wish I could do both - but at the moment just trying to one one new thing at a time 😃
I would a tutorial of how to paint a moon. I love tutorials.
Monthly challenge! ❤
I like tutorials. I haven't seen the lecture-only video. You don't draw animals anymore, do you? I love your animal.
I still draw animals 😄 I've just been changing my style a bit recently 😃

I can`t join the misfit land.... as I am not living in the us. BUT: I would love tutorials...

I'm a beginner so maybe mini tutorials can help me out better. ?
I feel like the tutorial would be a better fit for your RUclips channel.
Tutorials, please
