@@0g0mogosepikworld31 no WW2 plane is "armored to the teeth". The IL2 was well armored but only when compared to other WW2 planes. A single 12 mm plate covering the rear gunner on the late models was the thickest you get. Most plates were around 6 mm, around the crew, engine and cooling system.

Maybe I had a very, very good match in a plane of the same, or higher tier (seems to be the case for all the other talismans).

B-29's didn't have to worry about anything else, fighter plane's couldn't even reach its operational altitude at that time. I mean hell a standard b-17 could get absolutely shredded and still fly. Adding a few more millimeters of armor to a B-29 wasn't impossible.

This forces the enemy team to make sure that there aren't any high altitude bombers. It makes interceptors intercept. This way bombers have a chance to help their team and a chance for interceptors to intercept high altitude bombers instead of dogfighting. Bomber formations form, gunners have a chance to shoot things down, escorts escort because they might get a chance to get the interceptors going after the bomber formation, and its epic. But wait a minute, this would mean that people might consistently make money and have fun and not buy broken premiums! No the repair cost is going WAY up I can't believe we even considered fun

I played about 12 games the other day for the first time in about a year. 3/4 of my deaths were from the first shot taking out my pilot. Hell, I was diving in on a lower B-25 with Spitfire (forgot the name but the first one with 20mm cannons) and my pilot was knocked out by the gunner at over 1.0km out.
I'd say from the bomber's perspective it's quite unexpected. When it happens I kinda feel bad for the opponent to not even have a chance. On the receiving end of .50 cals it's either frustrating or amusing. **nervous chuckle** I need to put more points in my luck stat.

Just unlocked it. Was thinking that Bomb load is amazing. But no. Not when the base health is increased to balance higher vehicles. So instead of being this deadly bomber that if left unchecked. Can destroy a team. It's instead a bomber that dies, Loots your treasury, then dies some more. Oh, you might be able to get a couple bases. They really need to change bombers. If you have them too high in altitude spawns. Then there is nothing fighters can do. As climbing in this game is one of the most tedious things. Having the repair cost be the balance for vehicles is to this day, one of the worst mechanics in the game. They really ought to make it so the bombers have more to do. Give new and more objectives. Like train yards. Ports & Ships. City bombing and so on. Make it so gunners aren't so useless. I'm pretty sure back when. That bomber used to have AI gunners. But they removed it in RB. Maybe just add target leads for them. Have the lead appear anywhere from 1 - 1.2km's out. Your guns are still not likely to damage them from that range. But at least you can start preparing.

Bombers are supposed to fly in groups to stop attacks with a surplus of fire power. But people care about winning rather than playing so it becomes a blood brawl at the bottom as the high altitude bombers try to sneak above. So all in all none of WT was realistic in the first place.

Hmmm I am kinda new to this game even though I don't play this game. Can someone tell me more about what this is and why it gets destroyed out of nowhere?
A while back, War Thunder nerfed the structural integrity of bombers to make it easier to shoot them down...for some reason. They also aren't played correctly because you usually have 1-4 bombers each going after a different target. If they stuck together, their combined firepower would actually pose a threat to enemy fighters/interceptors. It's also worth a mention that hardly any teammates ever bother to escort these bombers. So, because they often don't stick together and almost always lack an escort, they usually get blown away by a single Bf109 or Fw190. Regardless of their general lack of tactics and teamwork, the bomber's damage model is pretty weak compared to how it should be and their frustration is understandable. A whole separate matter is that of their insane repair cost. I don't know if you play Realistic Battles, but the B-29A-BN has a repair cost of 41,400 SL, and that's without any modifications. That means you have to either not die, or make at least 41,400 before you die just to break even...but most of the time you just die without ever reaching your destination. These two problems compound and create another problem: space-climbing. In order to avoid near-certain destruction, some bomber players choose to loose their bombs on their targets and climb for the rest of the match, reaching asinine altitudes that take even early jets forever to get to just to avoid the repair cost. Since the match timer was recently reduced from 45 or so minutes down to 25 minutes, the bomber often only needs to bomb a target or two (depending on their bombing capability) and climb away to survive until the match timer runs out and automatically gives the win to whoever has more victory points, which is usually whoever destroyed more bombing sites.
My father was a navigator-bombadier in B-29's (I'm 64 yo) ALL the crew were double trained. Those guns could all be slaved to a single controller. And they would track the fighter with the guns un-engaged. When he started his attack they would link the guns to the controller and fire.
Wait, what? Instantly goes from everything is just swell, two holy F, massive multiple strikes on different areas of the bomber, and instant disintegration.
I will leave my 2 cents, I am going to share my experience playing bombers, I have been playing them for a long time, and I learned 2 things: 1- always play with friends, flying in formation is crucial, if the player in the video had been accompanied by another 2 B-29s, possibly he would have survived and the second is always to manage your own turrets, you are more likely to hit something yourself than the autogunners

@@ethanmurphy4389 yeah I know the entire video is 18 sec but I wanted to point out and honestly I was getting a bit mad that the do 335 bf 109 and the fw 190s gets this thing within a few hits into the thing and yes I know the b29 faces jets but the point is still made, the bombers are made out of butter, playdough and taco shells and the players get a crew lock and lose silver lions
And I play the b29 really rarely because of this
And if you do play bombers, the Red Tails intro is EXACTLY spot on with the bombers getting shot down with a few hits, which the b17s has taken hundreds of bullets and a ram and other bombers like the lancaster is also pretty tough

Gunners in a single bomber (not a formation) should be quite worthless but the damage model is a joke...
Remember back in 2016 when bombers could have a completely backed out airframe and still make it back to land. Good times.
I've only made a safe landing with one bomber so far on one engine... if that tells you anything.

@@TheHeavieKiwie they can be good at low br (battle rating) but are overpriced and weak at high br
A while back, War Thunder nerfed the structural integrity of bombers to make it easier to shoot them down...for some reason. They also aren't played correctly because you usually have 1-4 bombers each going after a different target. If they stuck together, their combined firepower would actually pose a threat to enemy fighters/interceptors. It's also worth a mention that hardly any teammates ever bother to escort these bombers. So, because they often don't stick together and almost always lack an escort, they usually get blown away by a single Bf109 or Fw190. Regardless of their general lack of tactics and teamwork, the bomber's damage model is pretty weak compared to how it should be and their frustration is understandable.
A whole separate matter is that of their insane repair cost. I don't know if you play Realistic Battles, but the B-29A-BN has a repair cost of 41,400 SL, and that's without any modifications. That means you have to either not die, or make at least 41,400 before you die just to break even...but most of the time you just die without ever reaching your destination.
These two problems compound and create another problem: space-climbing. In order to avoid near-certain destruction, some bomber players choose to loose their bombs on their targets and climb for the rest of the match, reaching asinine altitudes that take even early jets forever to get to just to avoid the repair cost. Since the match timer was recently reduced from 45 or so minutes down to 25 minutes, the bomber often only needs to bomb a target or two (depending on their bombing capability) and climb away to survive until the match timer runs out and automatically gives the win to whoever has more victory points, which is usually whoever destroyed more bombing sites.

My father was a navigator-bombadier in B-29's (I'm 64 yo) ALL the crew were double trained. Those guns could all be slaved to a single controller. And they would track the fighter with the guns un-engaged. When he started his attack they would link the guns to the controller and fire.

I will leave my 2 cents,
I am going to share my experience playing bombers, I have been playing them for a long time, and I learned 2 things: 1- always play with friends, flying in formation is crucial, if the player in the video had been accompanied by another 2 B-29s, possibly he would have survived and the second is always to manage your own turrets, you are more likely to hit something yourself than the autogunners
you could literally breathe on the b-29 and the entire back half will fall off instantly.
