Your videos are bringing back happy memories when myself and 3 other ladies did this walk. We did it the other way round to you and one of our overnight stays was in Keld Lodge, which at the time was a youth hostel. We were the oldest there 😀. Thank you for sharing your videos. I’m reading your West Highland Way book at the moment, again a walk which the 4 of us did.
I'm glad it's bringing back the happy memories! When did you do this walk? And I hope you're enjoying the book! I'm currently walking the Yorkshire Coast Path in sections, it's just nice to be out.
We did the Herriot Way in 2011 and the West Highland Way in 2012. We did the WHW because one of our 4 was turning 70 in 2012 and she wanted to do it before it was too late. Our worst day was the walk to the Bridge of Orchy. It was a 20 mile day and torrential rain throughout. We were so pleased we were staying at the hotel that night. It is definitely great to be out walking again but those distances are a tad too far these days. 5 to 10 miles my limit these days. Happy walking and I look forward to reading some more of your exploits.
Just reading your book of this walk and was very surprised when I read of the people that you spoke to in Gunnerside who had retired there from Beverley. I recognised them straight away as golfing friends before they moved to Gunnerside. What a small world. 😀
