I remember this "Sandwich" trains from Germany on some IC trains with DB class 101 but there it is mostly to save single locomotive runs and due to speed limits if gap between two pantographes is less 200 meters and German cab cars can't handle pushing doubleheaders on rear end. Now they are common in NJ as well since about three months.
The best is being up close to them when they pull away from a stop. You get the full effect of the sound. I wish one of these model manufacturers would make these units in HO Scale. Overland Models did, but that was about 30 years ago.
Positive Train Control similar to German PZB or European ETCS. Safety Systems if engineer fall asleep or for other reasons trains pass red light or go too fast, they get automatic emergency stop. After the Hoboken Crash last Year they finally install PTC there now.
Positive Train Control. It’s basically computer assisted control for trains. NJT began installing it after a train crashed into Hoboken last September because the engineer fell asleep while operating.
Wow that's pretty cool that you caught GP #4101. I started that up today in the yard. It's cool seeing what I work on in action. Nice vid
Cool catch of 6050. She was down in the Coastline 2 days ago with her odd-K5LA/RS5T
RS5T???
i dont think RS5Ts would be shaped like a regular NJT horn…
I saw that double ended GP40 comet train at Millburn 2 days ago!
I recently saw a Bergen County Line train with a PL42 at one end and a GP40 at the other. I wish I could’ve gotten it on tape, but no such luck!
Nice one Fan Railer!
I'm noticing these a lot on the NJCL near Long Branch, thy seem quite popular down here lol.
Also if you ever catch 6050 leading listen to its horn, its covers are partially ripped off making it sound like a K5LA/RS3L/RS5T hybrid.
I saw them running on the Main and Bergen County Lines last weekend, also caught the rare NJT F40PH 4119 and 4120 in an equipment move.
645 comes off 1720 based on another video I saw of it on the Main/Bergen Line

Acceleration on those sets must be crazy.
yea especially the ALP-46 sets, I rode on one and they accelerate really quickly
I ❤ NJ Transit
I've been very intrigued by the double headers. Any other videos?
Loving the engine whine from the Geep when it notches up.

Very cool. As expected from somebody who inspired me to do videos on RUclips.
NJT trying to be like LIRR, HAH!!!
No they're not NJT & LIRR are really trying to be like Amtrak because of the Superliner Cars.
Whats PTC modifications?

4629 is a 46A

Positive train control technology
Cool!
