the issue is that you obtain them at pretty much the same time. almost immediately after killing plantera i start fighting the pumpkin moon to get the dark harvest, spooky armor and raven staff. i was going to go for the deadly sphere staff but the raven just worked so much better. the solar eclipse feels kinda obsolete imo, unless you want the death sickle or eye of cthulhu (or broken hero's sword but an entire event for 3 drops? ehh...)

You can craft solar tablets pre-Plantera by breaking into the temple with a hoik (three platforms hammered towards the door) and farming lihzards. In doing so, you won’t need to worry about Mothrons, as they can only spawn after Plantera has been defeated.

Me and my brother loved him as if he was a real friend and when we went down to hell to start destroying some of the buildings (we both had terraspark boots so no need for a hellbridge) one of my summons killed a voodoo demon off screen and summoned the WoF. We were going to give Asher a propper goodbye, but we couldn't because we weren't thinking of fighting the WoF that session. Seeing Asher die again brought back some... memores.

Small note, tablets are NOT necessarily locked behind post-plantera progression! You can find the fragments outside the temple on certain seeds with a lucky chest spawn or just easily hoik through the door. Solar eclipse is arguably pre-mech!

Finally, hold down and walk through the door. Now you have unlimited access to the dungeon, and thus solar tablet fragments (or the rare fully completed solar tablet)

Another weapon that trivializes the game if you put in the effort is the Sandgun. In a specialized arena, with torches or rail tracks everywhere to prevent the sand from stacking you get a weapon with early hardmode DPS pre-boss. Vs BoC phase 1 it deals around 500 damage while phase 2 it hovers around 120. Similar deal with Skeletron, and vs the Wall the falling sand racks up insane damage by hitting all the Hungries and the three parts of the wall. It's super easy to obtain, infinite piercing with evil sand and the ammo can be duped with Fossil Armor. It's extremely extremely strong if you setup an arena with it in mind

This is a weapon I go for as fast as possible when I get into hardmode it's just so good for everything. Normally I do a little trick to get into the temple faster (hoik) and grab a solar tablet, but if you're luck there is one chest outside that has one so faster way to get one before even killing a mech boss and it just makes the time so much easier
Something I used to do that I think would help a lot of people when farming eclipses Pre-Plantera, is that sometimes Lizards will spawn juuuust outside the temple/close enough to the wall for you to use wall piercing weapons to kill and pick up their loot to make tablets pre-plantera.
You should cover the magic harp from the twins next! It's got great range and a very interesting gimmick with extreme cheese potential especially on plantera. It's pretty good and I think you should give it a go

To be honest I never really use the death sickle since it's just too much of an inconvenience to try to get pre golem and even after golem it just becomes the weapon that dropped during the solar eclipse I used a bit to get the broken hero sword for the terra blade (or the terra toilet if I'm feeling fancy)
Never used the weapon, as I was using mainly terrablade from this point to endgame. But I only did one melee run, so I might try it in my current melee run.

quick tip, you can hoik through the jungle temple doors to easily grab solar tablet fragments. this means you dont have to wait for the 5% chance to happen.
I remember comming up with a strategy for the plantera fight in 1.3 update, which utilized the sicle. All you had to do was to build a small 7x7 box out of any tiles. Trap the plantera inside, fly around it and use the sicle projectiles to deal damage. No seeds could harm you and the boss softlocked in place, so the fight became laughably easy. You didn't even need to build some massive open space arena to nail it... super useful for bag farming.
I think a really slept on items the ancient chisel, most people forget about it but in hard mode with the right Gear it can help u mine faster than u can fall haha
Just a recommendation, but maybe you could do a video on some more of the old ones army? There's some super unique ones that I don't think you've covered yet like the brand of the inferno.
This was actually the first weapon I used to beat Plantera. This thing was insane back in like 2015, definitely one of my favorite weapons even in 2022.
tips!!: theres a 'skip' we can do to get the solar tablet, as you might expect we gotta get a solar fragment inside the jungle dungeon and to do that we have to kill the plantera to unlock it but heres the catch, you can get inside without killing it and its not a teleport using the rod of discord; *you only need to place 3 platforms infront of the door and turn them into stairs* , aka make a hoik starter.

This has always been my favorite weapon, I'm just always sad how quickly it gets outclasses by the Terra Blade.
Since it can be obtained before Plantera (unlike the Terra Blade) and with way less effort it makes sense to be outclassed post Plantera.

FWIW, mothron doesn't spawn pre-Plantera either, so they won't bother you while trying to farm for an early sickle.
