    Best video I have seen on belt replacement for these vacuums. The details were extremely helpful--from the clip, to ensuring the self-propel mode is off, to ensuring it is in the carpet mode, to most easily and correctly getting the new drive belt on. Fantastic! Thank you!!!👍

    We have the same model (purchased 2012) and this was the first time replacing the belts. Not all that difficult but the tip about using thumbs to roll the drive belt onto the pully was most helpful. Went on just as it should and we're back in the vacuuming business. Thanks for the help. Undoubtedly we'll be back...............

    Tuned in to your video thinking I had to dismantle the vacuum to change the Belts. Great explanation on the V belt to check for wear. Very helpful. Thank you, Stay Healthy and Be Safe.

    Thank you for this tutorial. I thought the small belt was the wrong size. Forgot it puts tension on the belt when you drop the handle and start to vacuum...It was my mother's vacuum. It can suck the fiber out of carpet. 👍👍👍

    Thank you! The wide belt came off my vacuum when it sucked up a bunch of yarn. Your video made it simple to put the belt back on right.

    Thank you, I have a U3101 model hoover which I think is 1 of the 1st self propelled models, it still works great, but all anyone showed were the wind tunnels, with the 1 belt, so when you started talking about the drive belt release so it would spin freely, I remembered that thats what I had to do, this vacuum is so old that I don't have the book 4 it anymore so thank you for the reminder after I released the drive it spun freely and I got it on and put on a new brush belt as well and I'm up and running again

    Have this exact vacuum. The belt was starting to come off about every other time I used it. I wish you didn’t have to disassemble the vacuum to change it. I’ve ordered a replacement belt which I hope fixes the problem.

    I wasn't able to get that flat belt around the large pulley after many tries and sore thumbs but found it was fairly easy to do by using one thumb and the round handle end of a medium crescent wrench to push the rubber belt back and down around the pulley.

    Great video.
    I have a Hoover self propelled Hoover wind tunnel Model U6450-900 unit. My brush was no rotating so I replaced both the belts with new ones but the brush sill does not rotate. The belt connected to the brush seems slack. Is there a tension pulley. The sweeper is on carpet.
    Any suggestions please? Thanks.

    • @richardsvacuumcenter
      @richardsvacuumcenter  Год назад

      The skinny belt (v-belt)will appear slack when the vacuum is in the locked upright position. In the back position the tension pulley will apply pressure to the v belt. There is a lever on the hood that prevents the pulley from activating so be sure that lever is in “carpet” mode. If still not turning you need to check to see if your bearings are free. Also often the flat belt (last 3 digits 035) must be a fresh belt. If it’s old and dried out it may not work even though it’s “unused.”

      @@richardsvacuumcenter Thank you for your prompt response. I am using brand new belts but the beater brush is is not rotating. Where is this tension pulley. I can’t see it. Is it possible to remove the top cover and the two knobs so I can see if they are connected properly? Sorry to bother you with this 23 year old unit but as a 73 year old man I enjoy fixing things and learning new things. Thanks for your patience.

    I have a question - my roller brush is made out of wood. The belt notch appears to be worn away as the black paint is gone and you can see the wood grain in the notch where the belt goes. The vacuum works great on a hard floor. Despite being set to the highest carpet level, the brush roller will not spin well on the carpet (and it's fairly low carpet). It stops at times and the smell of burning belts is noted. The vacuum belts are new and it still slips. Is there a way to fix the worn down gap in the roller brush? The part is discontinued.

    • @rhondall8773

      @@richardsvacuumcenter I ordered them from Home Depot a long time ago. They came in Hoover logo bags. The V-belt (narrow one) has 200 on the bag and shows the part as # 38528034. The wider belt has 170 on the bag and shows the part as # 38528035

    Thank you for the video. I've replaced the large belt many times when the roller stops turning, no problem. The small V belt is relatively new and in good condition. However this time my current issue is the old and now new large belt comes off the pulley within seconds of starting the vacuum. I remove the cover and the large belt is off the pulley I've tried new fresh belts from different sources to try and resolve the issue. Its got me stumped. Everything else about the vacuum works as designed. Do you have any suggestion to prevent the large belt from coming off the pulley?

    I'm actually having an issue finding the right belt.....
    My grandma's windtunnel is an older model (bag) and needs a new belt. It's just 1, not 2 belts. I ordered one from Amazon from the belt part # on the bottom of the vaccuum, but when it came, it's too short!
    How do I get the right belt to fix her vaccuum???

    • @richardsvacuumcenter
      @richardsvacuumcenter  3 года назад +1

      if you ordered the exact part number as on the vacuum you did get the right belt and they are supposed to be smaller since they rely on stretching tension to drive the brush through carpet without stalling. One common problem with online belts is the belt could be old and dried out so the elasticity of the rubber could make it a bear to install (and will ultimately not last as long as a fresh belt). I would drop by a local vac shop and pick one up or I can ship you one if you're in the states for about $10. let me know!

    Changed both belts but beater brush to turn. Suggestions??

    • @richardsvacuumcenter
      @richardsvacuumcenter  2 года назад

      Make sure the knob on the front of machine is in “carpet” mode. Also brush will not turn when locked upright so make sure when you test it to have the handle back.

      That’s gonna be difficult for me to properly diagnose without seeing it or hearing it for myself. It may be wise to have a local vacuum shop take a look at it.
