- Have you ever wondered about the importance of separating church and state? Join Pastor Randy in this thought-provoking playlist as he explores the necessity and benefits of keeping religious institutions and government separate. In these videos, we delve into historical examples where religion and government were intertwined, revealing the profound impacts on societies and individual freedoms. We also examine atheistic and secular governments, discussing their approaches to human rights and religious expression.
In "Why Separation of Church and State is Necessary and Good," discover how the fusion of religious and political power has led to oppression and the violation of human rights. In "Separation of Church and State and Atheistic Secular Governments," we explore the role of secularism in modern governance. Finally, in "What Jesus Had To Say About Separation of Church and State," learn about Jesus' teachings.
We as a nation not merely based upon Godly principles but on the premise of liberty of conscience
Religion appears to be in decline, but perhaps the separation of church and state means that the nation doesn't have to decline as well.
In many cases you are right.
So,
that was prophetically foretold by Jesus and the apostles
It was in decline in the papacy of Rome
If we look at US history which is based on British ties. The Roman Church had its own lands and money in England and was untouchable by the crown and was eventually replaced with the King as head of the Church, instead of a Pope. Then came other Protestant sects which looked at the Church of England as too tied to the Roman Church. Then came Cromwell and his puritan commonwealth, doing away with the King as head of the Church. Then came the Restoration and Puritans heading to America to practice as they wanted. Then came one colony Catholic, one Anglican, one Quaker, and others with various degrees of separation of Church and state. The English lesson was well learned by Americans: let everyone believe what they will.
Thank you for this additional information! I'm thinking of researching for myself the histories of the original 13 colonies.
There’s no ambiguity. The minutes are in the Library of Congress. They clearly show they were concerned about keeping GOVERNMENT out of the church.
Wrong ! The US Constitution does not address any separation of church and stste. The 1st Amendment clearly says that there can be no state religion. The intention was to block the catholic church which deals in state churches.

I think your definition of secular is a little bit off. You explain it as a system of morality closer to humanism. As a personal ideology, yes I'd say your definition is pretty fitting. But I think its more useful to say something that is secular is neutral or not related to religion. For example I'd say that things like math and cooking are secular, there's no question about morality. But overall, pretty good video
I love researching the definition and etymology of words. I believe you are right, here. This is what I found in the Oxford English Dictionary (oed.com):
Secular - "Belonging to the world and its affairs as distinguished from the church and religion; civil, lay, temporal. Chiefly used as a negative term, with the meaning non-ecclesiastical, non-religious, or non-sacred." Of course, used negatively by some church people.
Thanks for your participation in the discussion!😁
I think the got the definition from Oxford's English Dictionary.
In the millenial kingdom there will be no sparation of church and state. In the New Jerusalem which follows, there will be no separation of church and state.
This is true, but in this present age, the Church has not been given authority to rule over the world (been there, done that - see Roman Catholicism from 325 A.D. to about 1500 A.D,)
We are to be examples to the world of Christlike behavior and devotion, but we are not to be a coercive force in the world.
The state which shall be ruled by His church has been prophesied. It is known as the millenial kingdom.
However liberty of conscience will forever be the foundation of God's government

OF COURSE its necessary. NOT separating them would be utter insanity. The population belong to MANY "churches" and most of them to none at all except nominally.
It must be separated. If the christians think they will forever keep power they are sorely mistaken. It keeps groups like the taliban out because they could get power.
As long as there are people of good character who respect the rule of law and share the same values as those who built the framework of this government.
Keep God out of Government.
Period
God keep him.in.your home and place of worship.
It is impossible to keep God out of government officials' lives.
Thank God!
Everyone should be forced to follow every letter of the Koran. Praise be upon Him.
Your comment is the exact reason to maintain separation of Church and State.
However, I appreciate you exercising your freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
@@pastorrandy We do not have the freedom to exercise our religions. If we did there would be no more infidels.
@@pastorrandy Went over your head....
The state should have no authority in policing morality, that is on the individual, outside of the state
So the state shouldn't say that stealing is wrong?
@@earlysda that’s not morality, you’re causing harm to a person or organization
Morality is, for instance, who you choose to have sex with or whether you like dressing in booty shorts during the winter
@@braisedsalmon aaron, Your definition of "morality" is far removed from reality.
.
Please get a good English dictionary, and start reading your Holy Bible as if your soul depends on it, because it does.
@@earlysda it’s okay to have a basic understanding of how legal systems function in the modern world, perhaps you should read other books than the Bible? Might help
@@braisedsalmon braise, Since your definition of morality was shown to be in error, you attempt to change the subject.

Good for you.
Well, there may have been some good in this video, but it didn't look too promising as the creator implied strongly that God was wrong to set up a theocracy.
.
But then he got to 4:33 where he made such a ridiculous mistake, that I turned the video off.
God was NOT wrong to set up a theocracy (meaning rule by God, not rule by the "Church"). Israel was a theocracy in the beginning. God was their King (not Moses or the judges of Israel).
The people, however, were only natural people not spiritual people (with a few notable exceptions). They could not at that time be born again from above by the Holy Spirit of God.
The vast majority of the people of Israel rejected God as their King because they wanted to be like the nations surrounding them. That is why He gave them Saul.
God rejected Saul as king and found David. From David's descendants He sent Jesus the Christ who will reign forever over heaven and earth at His return.
@@pastorrandy Nice to see you basically refute your own video.

"They could not at that time be born again from above by the Holy Spirit of God."
.
That statement is false, as there has only been one way to be saved since sin entered this world.
