Bought this last week and it works well. I thought it might be noisy and scare the fish but it's almost silent and the fish are right there with their noses against the tube trying to get at the gravel being cleaning in the tube.

Provac is STILL not sold in Australia and Fluval web site does not offer an Australian support option. There seems to be only a few internet sellers in Europe and USA that ship internationally but their freight costs are insane! I checked one from Europe - $60 freight for $120 Provac - and if I also want a packet of filter pads ($12) they charge an extra $60 freight. Before I go down that route, assuming I find an acceptable deal, can you tell me does Provac come with a smart power supply (one that handles both 110v and 240v)? We have 240v in Australia.

[EDIT: I took off the suction tube and spun the impeller a bit. It started working again right away.]
Just bought this. It was working great until I stopped halfway to clean the filter pad. When I got back and hit the power button, only the light came on. There is no suction. It’s not even making noise like it’s trying to run. It never ran dry. I don’t know why it’s not working. Fluval, any ideas? Your website doesn’t have any troubleshooting.

However, the instructions don’t mention how the water change adapter it is to be used. I found where it fit, but thought it would go under the filter cartridge. Now, the cartridge won’t fit with it in place, and the small piece is stuck! Even this short video goes very quickly and barely shows this piece.

No narration? Seriously? Sorry not worth watching. Probably would be great with narration.

How does this work against light substrate such as ADA Aqua soil?

If using a light substrate, you can still use the ProVac, just avoid submerging the unit into the substrate! Rather, just move it slightly above the substrate to pull up debris.
